Greetings from Vegas; poolside.
(The Hubby got the non cropped version of this picture.)
Just kidding, I’m home now, but what better way to catch up on my shenanigans than with a Currently post.
Talk about a smooth and sultry transition; it doesn’t get much slicker than that. Quick, somebody call Rico Suave and let him know I’m available for song writing. Or maybe we should just get right to it. No foreplay; only meat (substitutes) today.
——————————————————————————————————————————————-
Current Book: The nice thing about flying without Wi-Fi is getting an opportunity to read books again, which means last week, I knocked out a classic, Their Eyes Were Watching God and now I’m three quarters of the way through A Spot of Bother, a well written, depressing, yet strangely intriguing book. I can’t put it down. I’m not sure what this says about my psyche.
Current Music: I’m all about Kayne West right now, specifically his old school jams.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: staying at The Bellagio in Las Vegas for a work conference last week. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.
Current Guilty Pleasure: an impulse purchase: Blueberry Vanilla Goat Cheese; totally worth $3.50 and a perfect example of why you should go to the grocery store hungry.
Current Drink: more booze, this time Berry Mojitos at The Chandelier Lounge & Bar and a little bubbly at Drai’s Beach Club. Go to The Chandelier, ask for CJ; he’ll hook you up or swing from the rafters, both of which I rather enjoyed.
Current Food: Have I mentioned my CSA? Or my profound love of local, farm fresh, veggies? Yeah, it’s like that.
Current Obsession: Juli and I are on a mission to make Sandwich Porn a thing this summer. You should come to the party; bring bread.
The Ultimate Italian Panini – Recipe Coming Soon.
Current Confession: even though I was living it up in Vegas last week, I mostly wanted to go home. I’m a recluse at heart; some might even say an introvert.
Current Excitement: I did get my picture taken with the minions though. I kissed the one on my right too. I’m usually anti-PDA so I have no idea what happened; an unusual urge came over me and suddenly I was planting my lips on his giant yellow head. There’s probably a sexual harassment claim on its way. C’est la vie.
Current Wish List: I wish I could spend my days photographing veggies. There’s something calming and beautiful about them, when they aren’t getting all sassy in the kitchen that is.
Current Bane of Existence: bringing my site to a sudden and screeching halt on Sunday. Oops.
Current Blessing: good friends who not only listened and calmed my non-ass ass down, but also helped me get Clean Eats, Fast Feets back up and running with a new and improved theme. I’d be lost without these loons. That’s a compliment in case it wasn’t clear.
Current Indulgence: snack platters for dinner. The. Best.
Current Epiphany: my blog is worth a little financial investment, even if I don’t make any money from it.
Current Needs: more gelato in my life, specifically Turtle Crunch Fudge from The Sweet Spot.
Current Triumphs: drinking pitchers of water daily. It’s not leaping entire buildings in a single bound, but it’s damn near close.
Current Thankfulness: for our upcoming annual family vacation which involves a little exercise in the morning, a beer in the afternoon, a glass of wine in the evening and the beach all day, every day with my nephew, who I don’t see nearly enough. I can’t wait.
Current Fear: there’s not a lot which scares me, although I can say with certainty, I’m not a fan of aging. In fact, I wrote an entire post about it here.
Current Laughs: if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you have to watch this. I was in tears. I also might have tried my own impression afterwards.
Current Links: asked and answered.
Current Mood: content. Life is good.
Your turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current book? Current obsession? Current confession? Tell me everything; it’ll be our little secret.

I have a problem to pick up one or two things to comment on so I go with my usual strategy and say it all:
– Can’t wait to go back to Vegas this year. Love the Bellagio. It’s just too darn expensive for us to stay there. I’ll just hang out and pretend I have a room upstairs 😉
– And I am gonna have a Berry Mojito
– As promised I totally exaggerate with the whole #sandwichporn thing. I had your Avocado Cheese Panini already 5 times in one week! Love it. As well as the whole #sandwichporn thing 😀
– The Ultimate Italian Panini – is that the unbelievably good looking artichoke sandwich I saw on your Instagram?
– Kissing Minions is on my list now!
– Your nephew <3 <3 <3
– Let's just pretend aging doesn't exist!

The Bellagio was really nice although crazy expensive. I spent $8 on two cups of black coffee every day!! Ridiculous.
I LOVE that you’re continuing to eat that sandwich. It’s fantastic. I need to consume it again soon.
What aging? I know nothing about aging?

A glass of champagne poolside sounds pretty amazing right now. So does a big, crunchy salad. Currently I’m awaiting some much-needed dental work scheduled for Wednesday, and in the meantime am surviving off a diet of painkillers and smoothies. Maybe this is what it’s like to be a supermodel? I can’t wait to chew food again, although it hasn’t been all bad- your Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie has made a few appearances over the last couple days.
Meghan says
I think you are living the supermodel life. Embrace it while you can.
I love that you made the PB chocolate smoothie. I had one myself yesterday.

😆 Omg that Jon Snow video killed me when you linked it to me (last week?). That first guy was crazy good, and it made me really want a box of Frosted Flakes. And the blog looks fabulous, boo. I keep meaning to do my own blog makeover, but urgh. Spoons has looked that way since the very beginning so it kind of has sentimental value. I might leave it and just mess with the double sidebars since they’re kind of driving me crazy. Currently debating 😛

Totally on board with sandwich porn! There was a time in my life 5-6 years ago when I seriously lived on sandwiches. I eat them slightly less nowadays but love them just as much. I had the most insane turkey sandwich with gouda, sprouts, apple, and bacon jam a few weeks ago (at a restaurant – I wish I could come up with such a thing of beauty!).
Your family vacation sounds like it will be a blast! Is that the one in Fort Erie? Looking forward to hopefully meeting you then! 🙂
