I have no introduction for you today.
I know, I know, the self-proclaimed bread and butter girl is missing both. Oh, the horror. I’m not sure you’ll ever be able to forgive me. Then again, these Currently posts are packed with meat and potatoes, so maybe you’d be willing to overlook a few witty sentences, or lack thereof. I shall remain hopeful.
In the meantime, let’s begin.
Current Book: I’m about halfway through John Irving’s A Widow for a Year. Since this is at least the third time I’ve read it, it’s clear I’m a fan.
Current Music: I can’t get enough. Rinse and repeat.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: taking a few days off work last week to show this little lady around town, which included frolicking in fields of sunflowers.
Current Guilty Pleasure: riding pigs, also known as ‘riding dirty.’ Enough said.
Current Confession: I made Brittany delete all the pictures she had of me from behind. Let’s just say my ‘non-ass ass’ proclamation is legit. As to why she had so many of photos of my derriere, I’ve got my suspicions.
Current Drink: fruit filled smoothies, with some Chocolate Peanut Butter ones thrown in for kicks.
Current Food: right now my heart belongs to carbs. Bring on all the bread.
Current Obsession: sleep. Let it be known, I can put down some zzz’s. By the way, my bed never looks this good. It must have been a special occasion.
Current Excitement: being a tourist in my own city.
Holden Arboretum Canopy Walk, a 500 foot long walkway, 65 feet above the forest floor.
Holden Arboretum Emergent Tower, which takes you above the trees to a height of 120 feet.
Current Wish List: I wish BarreTone wouldn’t kick my non-ass ass so bad. Then again, if it gives me some glutes, I’m in.
Current Bane of Existence: this fur ball is dropping dreads all over the house. She’s my own personal Rastafarian. Shabba!
Current Blessing: the Hubby has been feeding me an awful lot lately. I don’t hate it.
Current Indulgence: dining out a decent amount, including this vegan mac and cheese from Forage Public House. It tastes so good on my lips.
Current Epiphany: if you see a door in the middle of nowhere, also known as a giant hill, you should open it. You never know where it might lead.
Then again, maybe you should run in the opposite direction, fast because who puts a door in the side of a hill. Creepy…
Current Needs: I need to meditate more. If only these damn blog posts wrote themselves, I might find the time. Nah, I’d just fill it with other things.
Current Triumphs: tackling, quite possibly, the longest slide in America. Boom.
Current Thankfulness: Queso Dip, it’s like a little slice of heaven, only it comes in a bowl.
Current Fear: that I will never be able to erase the horrors of Amish Country from my mind. Animals in too tight pens and baked goods packed with partially hydrogenated oils screams lies and deceit.
Current Laughs: Oh look, it’s awkward family photos, cat style. Day made.
Current Links: in keeping with my current carb cravings, I made these last night: Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Oatmeal Cookies. I have no regrets.
Current Mood: it’s Friday. I’m on top of the world.
Your turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current book? Current obsession? Current confession? Current mood?
Your photos always blow me away! I have to say I’m curious about the non-ass ass though. Current mood is on top of the world, most likely because it’s still morning 🙂 Current obsession is NOT sleep, though I wish it was, I think I got 5 hours last night after staying up way too late. Current obsession might be the cool mornings though, I feel like I can breathe again.
Michele @ paleorunningmomma recently posted…Paleo Pecan Pumpkin Pie Bars
Eep, 5 hours of sleep does not enough sleep make. I hope you can catch up soon.
The non-ass ass thing is essentially what it sounds like. I got no junk in my trunk. I never did and as such pants look ridiculous on me from behind, unless of course they’re too tight everywhere else.

Current book – Glimpses of the Moon (one of my favorites by Edith Wharton, and yes I’m a nerd)
Current music – We Did It When We Were Young, the Gaslight Anthem (no idea why, I swear I’m happy and free right now!) and lots of Taylor Swift.
I’d love being a tourist in my own city if I lived anywhere but NYC. In NYC, I only like showing people around the non-touristy spots. I just can’t get over the crowds around the “big attractions” like the Empire State Building and refuse to go within five blocks of Times Square.

Nerd on with yo’ bad self. I like Edith Wharton. I’ve read some of her books before.

The thing about the Amish land. Ha ha ha. I went to the Amish land in Ohio and have the same thoughts. But it was really beautiful.

It was absolutely gorgeous and picturesque with the rolling hills and red barns. The rest though….yeah I doubt I’ll ever go back.

Wtf is up with that door? That’s super creepy and reminds me of this abandoned amusement park booth thing I have in town that I need to share because it screams of rape and murder. Also, your words about Mac and cheese got me thinking… Can lips taste?? Time to consult the interwebs.
Chris recently posted…Happy?
And the survey says…? Can lips taste? I think they must. Hello kissing.
Yes I want to see the creepy amusement park. Things like that freak me out and yet intrigue me all at the same time. I must be twisted, albeit only slightly.

I’d like to swan dive into that queso. No surprise there.
Current Triumph: Finding new black boots for fall. I’ve ordered and sent back no fewer than 4 pairs, so this was a real victory.
Current Excitement: Heading upstate later today to visit one of my best friends for the weekend. Friend time is the best time.
My nachos yesterday were also covered in queso. Ah-Mazing!
Congrats on the boots and have a great weekend with your friend.

Hahaha that cat photo though…. and I need that vegan mac and cheese asap! It sounds magnificent!

LOL…..Is that seriously a cat themed table number? Say it ain’t so… No… actually, I like it. Say it’s so.
Thanks for the book reco! I’ll put that on my once-a-year fiction indulgence 🙂
I know. I couldn’t stop giggling over the cat themed table number. Hee, hee.

I love that picture of you two girls in the pig…thing. So cute. And what’s this about your non ass ass? I used to have what I affectionately referred to as a “sticky outy bum.” I swear, that’s what I called it. It wasn’t sticky, (umm.. not until my early twenties, anyway) but it stuck out like a big shelf. It was fabulous. And now that I’m 37, it’s flat. It deflated. My cheeks exhaled with complete and utter exhaustion. I think we both need to go find a new pair of ridiculously good looking underwear, and walk around in it for an entire weekend while dancing to Beyonce, and sloshing some flirty boozy drink around the kitchen floor while our asses take us to new places. <— I came up with all that and it's only 8am. Wow.
Suzy recently posted…Blended Family Friday: Trust
I need these ridiculously good looking underwear. They also need to give me a lift or really implants because I’m flatter than a lifeless pancake back there. Sad, but true. Most of my pants or shorts just bunch up and look weird in the backside. Le sigh. I believe sexy underwear and Beyoncé is the only way to go at this stage. It’s before 9 a.m. but I say bring on the dance moves.

Ohhh my, how I adore this post!! I like to take photos of people while they are walking, usually they turn out ok. I didn’t even notice the non ass, ass. WHOOPS! HAHA. We totally should have opened that door…
Brittany recently posted…Cleveland Eats
I know, except our pesky instincts we’re telling us to get the hell out of dodge that day and away from that door…which by the way, go back and look at the photo. There’s something red peeking out of the bushes on the right. A lurker perhaps?

That vegan mac n cheese!!!!! Oh my goodness it looks amazing! It sounds like you’re having a good September 🙂 I’ve been pretty obsessed with sleep lately too. I’m blaming it on the weather and the fact that it gets dark so early!

Yes, I think we should absolutely blame it on the weather. Who wants to get out of bed when it’s still dark and slightly chilly in the morning. Not me. Let’s get all the zzzz’s.

1. I love John Irving and have read this book two times but my favorite ever is Garp
2. I want to ride a pig, dirty or not 😉
3. I would have opened the door just becuase it could be a portkey to Hogwarts – okay in all honesty I might have opened it but I’d be scared to hell
4. One of the three songs I play on repeat is Macklemores ‘And we danced’ – This one is quite catchy as well!
5. The canopy tour looks awesome
6. I am glad you got some time off and I love that you had such a good time 🙂

1. I’ve never read Garp. I need to do that. Until I Find You was probably the most disturbing one for me.
3. There was something creepy and not quite right about that door so we fled the scene.
4. Checking it out now. I adore Macklemore.
6. Right back atcha! 🙂

1. This was most definitely a very disturbing one, although the relationship of Franny and John in The Hotel Newhampshire had been quite unsettling for me too.
4. I love the song but singing along feels VERY weird!

oh yeahhhhhhhh baby, that slide looks like my kind of fun. actually it all does. the field of sunflowers, the arboretum, being a tourist in your own hood. and vegan mac? yes.
what’s going on in my world? recovering from the most annoying stomach flu eve mixed with some leg/back issues. i guess when i get sick, my whole body decides to join the fun and shut down. it’s cool, i embraced the full-on sick mode for a few days. no humans or animals were harmed… that i know of.
i’ve joined a couple of book clubs and am reading ‘thing fall apart’ an older african book that apparently everyone read but me. thankfully my boss let me borrow hers, so ya. i also became a volunteer for the bel inizio organization where we help recovering addicts run their first 5k. i’m actually really mother effin excited about this. i speak their language. i get their issues. and i can help them walk or run and finish something. i’m totally there.
i’m currently obsessed with fake lashes, i just tried them for the first time and by the 4th attempt i almost got them to stick on my eyelid. once i get these babies up and running, just wait. it’s a whole new eye experience.
confession: i’m seriously sick of sweets. i know, that sounds insane coming from me but i’m ready to just get rid of it. call it overload from being sick and having nothing but smoothies and sweet milk tea, but the side effects i get, like bloating, and blahblahblah are enough to make me want to take a break. i decided i need to give up either sugar or vodka. clearly i’m going with sugar. even my boss said it’s be just absurd to stop drinking, hello. she’s so smart 😉
more importantly, i’d like my tummy issues to lessen and i know the sweets make it worse. and my itchy skin. whatever.
OH and most importantly, it’s my hubby’s bday weekend!!! we started off last night with a 10 course private tasting, it was insane!!! in good way. geez that’s a whole other comment square. 😀 xox
our turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current book? Current obsession? Current confession? Current mood?
danielle recently posted…recap of the week thus far
I saw that 10 course meal on Instagram. It looked AH-MAZING!
I say instead of cutting out anything, just scale back on the sugar intake if it makes you feel bad. I bet being sick contributed to all that and I’m glad you’re finally starting to feel better. Also stress is a huge component on our well being so if you’re stressing or feeling guilty over certain foods, it’s possible the reaction is more about the stress than the food. Make sense? At the end of the day, do what makes you feel good.
The program you joined for the bel inizio organization sounds fantastic and I’m so glad you’re doing something like this. It’s going to be so rewarding.

i think we should both take off work and go spend it on a vacation. walking, resting, eating, and all. Your husband can feed us, right?
I think this is a fantastic idea and I’ll put in a request for him to up the meals from feeding two people to feeding the three of us. He’s very cooperative. I suspect he’ll be fine with it, especially if we pay him in beer.

I don’t know how I feel about vegan mac and cheese (how can it be good without real cheese??) but I trust your tastebuds, so it msut have been good! I also assume it must have had a cashew cream sauce in it, which I hear is delicious. I keep meaning to try making a nut free sunflower seed cream sauce to see if it would work.
I never make our bed either, but I’ve been trying to do it more often lately. It makes me feel so much more put together (never mind the piles of clothes all over the floor haha).
Chelsea @ Chelsea’s Healthy Kitchen recently posted…Sun Dried Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Pasta with Feta
You are 100% correct. It was a cashew cream sauce and it was damn impressive and this is coming from the girl who adores cheese, real cheese. Could I tell it wasn’t actual cheese? Did I care? Not one bit because it was so good. 🙂
I’m with you. The bedroom is the place everything seems to explode. Clothes everywhere, unmade bed, books stacked up on night tables. Ha.

So you’re going to take me to all those fabulous touristy places in a few weeks, yes? Save maybe the Amish country because that just sounds a little creepy. And can we open the hill door if I promise not to take any pictures of your non-ass ass during the whole trip? Because that’s just one of those oddities that I wouldn’t be able to walk away from. Current confession: I think I’m going to need a second cup of coffee today. I don’t know what it’s been with me lately, but I’ve been ex.haust.ed.

At least your no bread and butter introduction came with a money shot of bread and butter 😉
Did that farm have a pig car? Or was it a go Kart? Weird, but also kinda cool.
I’m currently rereading the Harry Potter series. I always resort to it when I start to feel stressed. It’s like my security blanket.
Heather@hungryforbalance recently posted…Anxiety: Why am I faking it?
It was a whole string of pig cars and they were all attached and pulled around by a tractor. Perfect for the little ones and well, I guess Brittany and I. 🙂

Ok I really really really want to go on that slide! I love slides so much! David and I went for a walk on Saturday and found our local playground and spent a good half an hour on the slide, swings and climbing frame – I loved it and forgot how much I giggle and smile when on the swings – it was so much fun! 🙂
