My mind is a jumbled chaotic mess these days.
I blame my tiny, almost eight month old, human and the ridiculous amounts of coffee I consume. Can caffeine make you hallucinate? Or is that lack of sleep, because I dreamt last night I was sitting at a conference room table with Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Oscar, my furry four footed friend.
Trump, in all his magnificent glory (I’m referring to his vivid complexion, of course) was hitting on me, while I blasted him with political facts and simultaneously smacked his hand away from my nether regions. Oscar on the other hand was happily and coquettishly purring beneath Hill’s handsome hands. It’s important to know Oscar doesn’t purr. For real, it’s happened once in his lifetime, and I’m pretty sure he had a cold or something stuck in his throat; probably a chipmunk head or a bird feather.
Yes, I think it’s safe to say sanity has left the building or at the very least my brain. What’s left appears to be a random hodgepodge of song lyrics. Since I’m sure you’re eager to explore the depths of my neurosis, I’ve decided to share a day in the life of motherhood, to music that is, so you can understand how my present condition came about.
Motherhood to Music

The Lumineers, “Ho Hey”
2:30 p.m. (the baby rejects her afternoon nap):

Bob Marley & The Wailers, “Three Little Birds”

Bobby Darin, “Splish Splash”
7:30 p.m. (bedtime):
“In the jungle, the mighty jungle. The lion sleeps tonight. In the jungle the quiet jungle. The lion sleeps tonight.”
The Tokens, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”
8:00 p.m. (alone at last):
“I drink alone, yeah. With nobody else. I drink alone, yeah. With nobody else. You know when I drink alone. I prefer to be by myself.”
George Thorogood & The Destroyers, “I Drink Alone”
What song lyrics would appear in your daily life?

This post is fantastic 😀 I love it! And you’re pumping them out this week! I love that, too!
Also I have stuck ‘the lion sleeps tonight’ in my head now. I don’t mind it though. I like that song 😀

It’s a good song to get stuck in the recesses of our minds. I have I wanna be sedated running over and over again. 🙂

Yeah…..it’s tough sometimes! Sometimes it’s tough more often than it’s fun with some babies! The photos are adorable, the lyrics self explanatory and those strings of long days would get into the brain of the most grounded of solid minded mum!
Adorability (I think I made that word up) and love got nuttin to do with it. I hope you’re finding time away all by yourself a few times a week. Getting out with Ave to run the errands doesn’t count, though it momentarily provides relief from feeling confined with a cranky babe or just being frustrated by the wide awake afternoons even if she is having a great time making a joke of your attempts. I hope you’re rewarding yourself with little slices of time alone. Other than the occasional hour when she does sleep. Even if it’s shopping on the weekend when Dad is home to take over, but preferably something you’d consider a treat. Like getting your feet dolled up, or shopping for some new cosmetics or a peaceful lunch by yourself! (One of my favorite things)
Meghan says
I did get lunch out yesterday without the babe and it was glorious. I need to do that more often. I’m working on it.
Also I like your new word: adorability works for me.

On top of your usual ability to put a smile in my morning (which was really needed today), you have surpassed your ability to impress me! This is brilliant! There must be a job out there for you and your overflowing head of song lyrics… hallmark cards? Memes? Something.
I wish i could think of a song lyric for my life right now. I know there is one, but my mind is a pile of jello currently just wanting to be fed coffee through a straw, so I’m going to get back to you on this one.

I’m so glad I managed to get a smile on your face. Mission accomplished.

I love this post for the writing, but the pictures take the cake. You’re the best! Okay so what song would suit my life? Till I Collapse by Eminem.
“Till the roof comes off, till the lights go out
Till my legs give out, can’t shut my mouth
Till the smoke clears out, am I high? Perhaps
I’ma rip this shit till my bone collapse.”

I currently have Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody stuck in my head, so I’m not entirely sure what that’s supposed to mean. It’s not a horrible song, though, so I’ll take it. But every time I talk to my mom, I’m tempted to bust out the “mamaaaaa, ooo oo o oooooo” line 😆

Haha this is brilliant! Although I think I will have I wanna be sedated in my head all day now… Not a bad thing at all!
It’s funny I wake up everyday with a song in my head… It’s so odd and random. I can’t for the life of me remember what it was this morning but the other day I had Nsync in my head – I literally have no idea…

My 2 year old decided 4am was an awesome start to the day today. I swear on everything holy if this nap she is taking now isn’t a long one…I can’t guarantee my sanity for the rest of the day.

It’s the absolute worst when they take a 20 minute nap, just long enough to make them cranky.

ho hey! holy crap i’m behind. we got a lovely virus last week and it literally has taken over. little lulu is doing a heck of a lot better than mama, but that’s the whole point right? i told my higher power that i would prefer lulu to feel good rather than me, and unfortunately i think my HP took me too seriously. on the real though, we are on our 2nd little cold and at least i’m well versed in baby colds now. much more proactive this time, but this time i happen to be sick as well. actually i never quite healed from her first virus exactly 1 month ago, and now it manifested into this yucky mucus monster of mayhem. lord help us all!
as far as songs and music, well i can hear out of my left ear ok but my right ear just rings. lovely sinus. so for music it feels like jingle bells are playing in my head all day. how appropriate, ho ho ho.
Meghan says
Oh no, I’m sorry you’ve been sick. That really stinks, although I’m glad to hear Lulu didn’t catch it as severely as momma. If you were here, I’d take care of you or Lulu so you can take care of you.
Hang in there momma.
Emily@JuicerHealthy says
Despite your lack of sleep, you still look very cheerful and happy Meghan. 🙂
Half of the songs are my favourites. However, waking up with zombies in your head sounds a bit scary for the day to me lol. You should try another one. Very fun post.
