Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
Since I no longer had a slew of family in town and the host of activities that go with them, I had to entertain my own child all by myself last week. Crazy, right?
As a result, the tiny dictator and I went to the local library a lot, like almost every single day. We also spent tons of time outside hanging with Oscar and strolling the grounds (i.e. the backyard, the front lawn and the neighbor’s porch).
On Friday, we got footloose and fancy free and hit up a splash pad, where Ave spent more time eating snacks than actually frolicking in the water, which came as no surprise to me. She is definitely my daughter.
Speaking of food, I did a kick ass job last week of cooking, or not cooking as the case may be. Either way, I shared seven days of dinner on Instagram, and they were all delectable and delicious.
I took Ave to her follow up eye doctor appointment, where she got the all clear and charmed the people in the waiting area by strutting herself and sharing all her favorite animal noises. In this regard, she is very much her father’s daughter. I’m talking about the charming bit, not the animal noises, unless you count a tiger in bed. Me-Yow.
I went to Target, twice to buy a spiralizer. I’m on a mission to make Koodles (Kohlrabi Noodles); stay tuned.
I did all the adulting I let slide the week prior: bills, finances, laundry and cleaning.
On a happier note, I squeezed in a run which makes my exercise average about three times a month. That being said, I haul around twenty pounds (cough, Ave, cough) on the regular. She wears me out more than any HIIT class.
I chose a stain color for our soon to be completely refinished dresser, and I harvested garlic from the garden.
We hosted my mother for the weekend so I guess I wasn’t totally alone in managing my mini-monkey. The Hubby and my in-laws were around too, so it’s possible I was being dramatic earlier. When they say it takes a village to raise a child, they mean it.
With grandma in tow, we went blueberry picking or should I say eating? Either way, we scored twelve pounds of bursting blueberry goodness.
Last although by no means least, the Hubby and I went and saw the Wonder Woman movie. He said one of the fight scenes reminded him of me when my blood sugar goes low. Hmm, I have no idea what he’s talking about.
It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.
Patricia @Sweetandstrong says
Library and the splash pad sounds like a great way to entertain Ave! And all those blueberries, what are you going to make?

So I made some pancakes with the blueberries, froze a bunch and then simply ate the rest hand to mouth. I had big plans to make stuff and before you knew it, all those blueberries were gone. Oops.

Mmm koodles. Adding oodles to the end of any veggie name makes it almost too cute to munch. What veggie (or veggies) is kohlrabi related to? It’s new to me. Can you eat it raw? Tiny humans and kitties and library dates sounds wonderful.

Kohlrabi is like a cross between an apple and cauliflower. You can definitely eat it raw so making koodles is the way to go. Koodles, ha. It does sound cute.

When you go berry picking one of the most important parts is to enjoy eating many of them too. 🙂 Fresh berries are just something that can’t be beat.

Ha ha ha awe… cute about Wonder Woman. I totally think you’re like her except for much sexier reasons. I need to take the kids berry picking! I totally forgot about that! It’s hard to find cool things to do with my kids in the summer because their dad’s family is super rich and I can’t really compete with vacations in Whistler, helicopter rides (I’m serious) and a 2 week long stay at a resort on a lake. They come here and I’m like hey guys, let’s go pick berries and visit the cats at the SPCA. Ha ha!!! But you know what? They love it. It’s all good.
Uhmm.. sorry–that was a tangent. Okay so your week sounds super decent! How come you didn’t write about the one nap thing? You’re afraid to jinx it, aren’t you? I don’t blame you. It’s a fragile thing.

Meghan says
Personally I’d prefer the berry picking and SPCA visits to fancy stuff. Kids don’t much care about that stuff truly. They’d rather have a present parent.
The one nap thing is not going well……send wine. And coffee. And more wine.

Your tiger comment made me laugh out loud in a public area. As did your blood sugar comment. You keep me looking nice and sane amongst all the Torontonians.
I said it before but it bears repeating, your cooking/veggie/salad game is so on point. You and summer do VERY well together. And Ave looks like a natural born berry picker. One of the best summer activities out there. <3

Ave and the yellow dress makes me smile.
I can’t wait to see the koodles even though that name freaks me out. Just like awesomesauce or bloobs and what not. Ask Laura, we’ve been making a list of these.

I confess to not even reading the blog part yet. Jumped right down here for the important business on my mind………Is that Hells Angels onesie? How fitting, your little hell on leather (pads, that is) angel!
Okay, now I can fully enjoy the lets get listing….without distraction.
Grandma Lala says
Okaaay! I am back now! Having read every exciting word, but still not over the Hell Angel onesie and leather Peds which spell check changed and I didn’t catch. My kids wore similar very soft leather shoes called Peds. I loved the protection minus the constraints of a hard shoe.
I have a crank noodler and now an ready to order the Kitchenaid attachment for me stand mixer. I’m tired of cranking because we make a lot of ‘noodles’ in summer and even in winter with sweet potatoes which are hard buggers, and extremely exhausting to crank out for my arthritic hands and fingers. You might want to check out on Amazon if you’re a prime member if you think you’ll use it and save some time. It’s dishwasher safe top rack!
I LOVED picking blueberries! In Michigan growing up, and later, when visiting my parents and sibs. And that’s where all of ours are from here in Chicagoland! So darned good off the bush tho. Our buckets never really filled and you’d think with seven kids picking they’d have plenty! But nope, just seven tummy aches. Mom and Dad had a good amount and still ended up buying some on the way out.
You silly girl, fibbing about being all on your lonesome for the w h o l e sweeping week with bebe’ Ave! And a husband backup! Let’s be honest….all of those yard walkabouts really weren’t with you at all, were they? And the library visits almost daily, w i t h n o. p h o t o s, hmmmm? See the doubt that you cast with one small small omitted
fib?
Choosing a stain/paint color is HUGE! It can hold up a process for us (him) for up to a year…. or until I give in, who says I can’t compromise! And who says compromise is a must for a long and happy marriage. Because we are very happy, 45 years worth next month!
The only part of action fantasy hero movies made in that fashion that interests me is that huge popcorn that you pictured! However, I will see it for hubs because I love him. I guess that is compromise also, except that I’d never say I really wouldn’t enjoy it and lower his excitement for it. I’m happy for you both too if you enjoyed it!
Oh what the heck! We love your antics both above and especially below the board, heheh!
Grandma Lala says
My gosh I’ve just taken up all the space! So, so, sorry! I’ll probably do it again tho. I need a girlfriend I think.
Meghan says
I’m happy to be your girlfriend. One day if you and the Hubby ever make it to Cleveland for the printing stuff, we’ll have to do coffee.
I bought a handheld spiralizer and I LOVE it. I’ve already made the koodles and now first batch of zoodles and I can’t wait to do curly fries. I finally see what everyone was raving about.
Actually I was the one with her on the walks and outdoor adventures plus the library dates. It’s my go to when we need an activity although I certainly had help. In fact, I have no idea how single parents do it. I’d melt into a pile of goo without the assistance of others.

I am local too.. What is the name of the farm that you guys went to for blueberry picking? Thanks
Meghan says
It’s Martin Blueberry Farm in Columbia Station. They have tons of blueberries which makes for easy picking. It’s $4 a pound right now. Enjoy.
Navya says
Thanks!
Heather says
I loved Wonder Woman! So good! I am very intrigued by the kohlrabi noodles too! I don’t use my spiralizer nearly enough.
Sounds like 12 pounds of blueberry heaven! That is one thing the kids and I have not done yet – gone berry picking! Not sure how we haven’t managed that yet.
Haha – Me-Yow! I’m laughing, but also crying because one of our tiny dictators is a major cock-block. Haha!

Not cooking is the best cooking for this time of year. My dinner plan for the week is entirely salads and sandwiches. I would dive face first into a hot bag of popcorn any time of year though.

The best part about eating so many salads is you have plenty of room left for popcorn. 🙂

Thank you Meghan! I’m going to take my monkey to the library. We have NEVER been, how ludicrous is that??? We did go to Barnes & Noble once upon a time but that was eons ago. We must explore our local library very soon… I’ll report back whenever it happens.
We love the splash pad, in fact that’s my excuse for not going to the library. We have been loving our local park with the splash pad and try and go once a week. Our local parks are so amazing, even the little neighborhood park is nice (before 10AM otherwise you will melt!)
The days with our little monkey are so fun, I can’t believe rambunctious and how much personality these little monkeys have!
Meghan says
And energy….they never stop moving.
We love the library because they have a kids area complete with books and all sorts of toys and activities. Plus there’s always other kids there to watch and play with.
Splash pads have been a big hit here too for all involved. 🙂 Splash pads usually equals a good nap afterwards. 🙂

I didn’t think i was so fussed about seeing Wonder Woman but it has had such amazing reviews that I might just be tempted. Then again the last film I went to see was Despicable Me 3 so a slight genre difference there!
So envious of all the blueberries! Then again winter strawberries are becoming available here now so I can get my berry fix again!
