Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
I made my own eclipse viewers before I managed to score a pair of fancy glasses from the next door neighbor. The difference between the two was night and day, pun totally intended.
By the way, I can’t believe the solar eclipse was only last Monday; it feels like a lifetime ago. Perhaps because the Hubby and I are still taking turns dealing with the tiny dictator in the middle of the night. She’s been waking up every other night for weeks now, wanting to party like a rock star, and it’s taking us hours to get her back to sleep. Send coffee.
Despite our sleepless ways, we’ve forged on and continued our daytime shenanigans, including multiple trips to the park, sometimes in the same day and play dates with our buddies, which included a planetarium show, watching ducks and most excitedly, throwing rocks into the dirt and eating peaches with our filthy fingers.
We also embarked on a family gelato date. Not surprisingly, my mini-minion was a huge fan.
Since we’re on the topic of tasty eats, I made Chelsea’s zucchini bread, which we destroyed in less than 24 hours and by we, I mean Ave. It was light, moist, slightly sweet and totally satisfying.
I also whipped up a batch of vegetarian three bean chili, another round of zucchini noodles (zoodles are a game changer) and eggplant Parmesan.
I squeezed in a few runs and did a half-hearted television workout, also known as lifting weights and doing squats while watching the housewives of some county.
I shared a blog recipe for baked ratatouille with melted cheese and threw out a mini mountain of twist ties. You’d have to read the post to understand.
Also, I submitted the same recipe to Food Gawker with actual success; hooray! Cue jazz hands, kitchen dance parties and a celebratory glass of wine. Alright fine, give me the whole bottle. I did mention the kid wasn’t sleeping right?
I watched a couple of movies and finished two books.
Additionally, I had a lovely and long lunch with an old work associate.
Oh and I bought my first ever pair of Birkenstocks, sending my hippie status off the charts.
The most exciting news of course is I solidified a September trip to San Diego, to see one of my blogging besties. That’s right, Ave and I are going cross-country. Now if only we can get her sleep issues under control before then. Gulp.
It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small.

Finishing two books on little sleep and with a toddler is very impressive! Not to mention everything else!!

Yay!! Congrats on Food Gawker! Congrats on booking a trip to see Laura! Congrats on the exercise and all the baking and cooking and most impressively, surviving the week of no sleep. I’m also very impressed by the homemade solar eclipse viewers. You are talented in so many ways.

Except the homemade eclipse viewers were really no bueno. They look good though, don’t they?! Ha.
Yup, minus the sleep issues it was a great week and thankfully I’ve got the Hubby around for the assist.

So much accomplished this week even with the lack of sleep. I’m obsessed with zucchini bread lately, we have the same problem though, it only lasts maybe a day in the house. Happy Monday!

Bread and zoodles are now my official favorite ways to eat zucchini.
I’m so lucky the Hubby is home to help right now, especially since we’re having all the sleep issues. I wouldn’t be able to function otherwise.

Ave has GOT to sleep. Have you tried a sound machine? That helped us for a bit. But honestly, I’ve got one who thinks sleep is mostly a suggestion and it kills me. PS that ratatouille ❤️❤️❤️

You’re telling me! Ave does not do well when she’s tired and it ultimately impacts her future sleep as well. I never did understand parents who’s kids will just fall asleep anywhere when they’re tired. Mine just spins out of control like a top and wails until we get her home to bed or on the boob. Sigh.
All that said, I did some research (of course I did because WTF) and I think she’s going through the 18 month sleep regression so we just need to survive a few more weeks without instituting bad habits (Hi, holding her hand for hours through the crib rails) and then we’ll hopefully be back to normal.

Wow I definitely hope that Ave can get some good sleep again; the last couple nights haven’t been the best sleep wise for me, but I’m thankful that they’ve given me an opportunity to realize again that it’s Jesus who sustains me and keeps me going.
Also your gelato date looks like a date that I would totally like to crash; would that be ok?

I haven’t used a recipe for the zoodles yet. I just pair them with a tomato based pasta sauce and eat away. 🙂

Can definitely agree that this past week was a long one.

Partying through the nights and still getting the best entertainment during the day? Little Miss Ave is either a bit spoiled or very very loved. We both know it’s the latter because you have a heart of gold in that tired body of yours. Fingers always crossed for your next night allowing for some more sleep!
Go you for getting accepted by Foodgawker. That’s big! Any luck regarding Scary Mommy?
Even if they didn’t turn out quite as expected, your solar eclipse glasses predict you being a fabulous creativity buddy for Ave in years to come. Lucky girl!

Seriously. When they don’t sleep it’s like your whole life is taking place under a wet wool blanket. Every single joint hurts. Blah.
Just wait – once they get up to, I don’t know, seven years old, then you are waking up to hear about the awesome dream they had about sasquatch that they couldn’t wait to tell you about.
Or something.
Watch out. I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks in 7th grade and now, and 25 years later, I’m still wearing them. Birks can be resoled, recorked and they last forever. Yaya!!

That’s one of the big reasons I bought them, I hear Birkenstocks are amazing and last forever if treated right. Fingers crossed my kid doesn’t throw them in the toilet like she did her shoes. Ha.

i wish i could gift you with sleep, and while i’m being that magical fairy i wish i could get some myself. what’s up with this nonsense? our little monkey caught a cold, and this was after we got struck by a catastrophic hurricane last week… what day is it??? anyhow, we all survived that, and then she gets a cold. this is life lately. it’s always something crazy but ya kn ow, it’s also filled with more awesomeness than i can fathom. crazy! little monkey is just so darn amazing to me, even when she’s cranky. i love the personalities that these tiny humans have. miss you and ave, big hugs from flood land.
Meghan says
I’ve been thinking about you guys caught in flood land and I’m glad to hear you’re all OK even if the cheeky monkey has a cold. Poor thing. One day we will sleep again. In the meantime, there’s baby smiles and laughs.
