I’m afraid I have no fun tales or lofty goals to share with you today. Today was an average day, and in fact, if I’m being honest, I woke up in a funk, feeling tired and irritable. It’s never a pleasant way to start the day, but I have only myself, and the 8 cups of coffee I drank before going to bed last night, to blame. In any event, I spent the better part of the morning trying to shake off the funk. Pictures like this always help.
(If none of these made you go, “Aww,” then you are beyond help).
By the time I went spinning at lunch, and certainly after, my mood had dramatically improved. The above pictures may not have softened your heart, but a great workout will always improve your mood. Seriously, science says so, and I read it on the Internet, so it must be true.
This was one of those rare days at the office, where all was calm and quiet, and I was finally able to get some really old projects done and crossed off my list. I am a “lister” and crossing something off the list, well now there’s a good feeling. Purpose, accomplishment, and pride…oh my.
I’m sure my fellow listers out there understand, but I start every day with a list of things to do. There’s other lists too: seasonal lists, grocery lists, project lists, task based lists. Pretty much anything you can think of, I’d prefer it be in list form. And not just randomly thrown on a piece of paper (shudder to think). It needs to be in alphabetical order, order of importance, or order it appears in the store (grocery list). Yes, I am one of “those people,” who alphabetize her spices and anything else I can organize (because it makes sense). It’s not crazy people, it’s efficient. I dare you to come to my house and find a spice, any spice because it’s just that easy. So before you decide I’m completely nuts, let me be clear: while I make plenty of lists, I don’t always complete everything on them, at least not in the same day. So when I do get to check an item off the list, especially an old list, now that’s a good day.
So while today started rough, it turned out to be just fine, in part, because I got my exercise on with a 45 minute Spin Class and my Tank Top Arms workout (Me Hulk). Sorry, just saw the Avengers this past weekend.
My advice (since you asked) is when you’re having a bad day, “work it out.” Literally, go and work out. It’ll help; I promise. And for me, no coffee tonight.

This is SO true! Whenever I find myself in a funk I run down the list: exercise? veggies? sleep? It is always one of those three.

It’s amazing what eating the right food, sleep and exercise can cure.
