WIAW: The Quickie Edition

February 12, 2014 by Meghan 21 Comments

I am a firm believer in the power of the Quickie.

Don’t get me wrong; long drawn out affairs can be fun too, but sometimes you’re in a rush or you’re feeling particularly lazy. Sometimes you only have five minutes to spare, yet don’t want to skip the action altogether, and sometimes it’s as simple as not wanting to mess up your hair.

On those days, the Quickie is a valuable tool in your arsenal. On those days, the Quickie is your friend; one of your very best friends in fact.

All of the excitement; none of the labor.

Maple Pecan Cereal

Nature’s Path Maple Pecan Cereal with fresh raspberries.

Foreplay can be intense and exhilarating.

Puff Pastry Baked Brie with Blueberries

Brie topped with Blueberry Sauce, a sprinkle of Rosemary Salt and wrapped in Puff Pastry.

Foreplay can also be overrated.

Baked Brie Bites with Blueberry Sauce C

Easy access is key for days when you want to get in and get out.

Veggie Pot Pie

HIIT workouts ain’t got nothing on the Quickie. In fact, it might just be the original HIIT and you gotta love a classic.

Cherry Crisp

Cherry Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream

Happy What I Ate Wednesday my friends. Make it a good one. Make it a quick one.

Are you a firm believer in the power of the Quickie? What are some of your favorite quick meals to make? What are some of your favorite quick meals to eat?

Haha. You definitely made it under the 500 word count this week, didn’t ya? 🙂 Those baked brie blueberry bites (B X 4) look incredible. Seriously, that first picture of them baked has me just wanting to reach through the screen and snatch one up.

And that pot pie turned out super thick and fabulous. Love the setup of that one… and the patterned pot holder. We have some of the strangest pot holders and oven mittens.

Short and sweet! I finally did it. Alright, maybe it wasn’t actually sweet but you know what I mean. 🙂

You have to start using some of those clever pot holders in your photos. I want to see them!

Like a rock baby. I even reset the alarm 30 minutes later so I could sleep a little more.

I didn’t post a real recipe for either. I kind of winged both of them, but if you’re really interested let me know and I’ll email you what I did.

Yes always eggs. If I’m tired, rushed or don’t feel like cooking, I go for the eggs.

Considering that your quickie made me laugh out loud at -least- 5 times, I’d have to say that I’m definitely a believer in the power of the quickie. And girl, I’ve been so lazy when it comes to cooking lately, that all my meals have been coming together in less than 10 minutes — in and out.

AB&Js, cereal, smoothies, eggs, noodles & hummus, salads, leftovers… I’m all about easy and satisfying.

The Quickie was a crafty way to get away with a photo dump for my WIAW today. Oops. Did I just admit that?

I was all about lazy, easy, just put it in my mouth food a week ago, but taking those few days off work really recharged my batteries and got me wanting to get creative in the kitchen again. Hence the Brie Bites and the Pot Pie.

Umm yum?! You’re talking about one of my favorite things AND mixing it with gorgeous pictures of food (seriously those blueberry brie bites are beautiful!). I think I’m in love (not that I wasn’t already but….)

The blueberry brie bites were my favorite part of the entire day, even ahead of the Veggie Pot Pie. Shh, don’t tell.

Well LOOK at you! Short, sweet, quick and EASY! You hussy! Going around traipsing your foodporn all over the place! Have you no decency?! You better not, if you wanna make me proud because I love EVERY single thing about this post! 😉

And I’ve been the QUEEN of quickies lately! Well…I guess they count as quickies…even though they come in short bursts, they leave me satisfied every time! Eggs are my go-to, or cereal, or cold leftover vegan pancakes covered in anything and every thing that takes their veganity. Ohhh, did you see what I did there? 😉

Considering you made them seven times, I bet you’ve got a lot of vegan pancakes laying around. Maybe you can use them to scoop up your ice cream. That’d take away their veganity.

I have no decency. I like it like that. Yeah baby, I like it like that.

Wow. A quickie of a post this certainly was- for Meg Standard. Not sure I could get accustomed to this type of quickie 😉

I think my instagram or recent WIAW posts can show my quickie go tos- Potatoes and 1/3 block of cheese. Yep. Laziness at it’s best.

I need to tell you about the most simple, yet amazing sandwich I had- Open faced Scandinavian brown bread(I’ll find the name it’s not really bread like) topped with slightly salted butter and the most amazing soft cheese with edible wax (kinda like brie, kinda not- more oomph to it!) When I ate it, I correlated to you immediately!

I’m pleased as punch good bread and cheese brings out the Meg in you, or at least makes you think fondly of me. At least I hope it’s fondly. If not, you’ve got some explaining to do.

Quickies can be a great thing sometimes. Don’t knock em until you’ve tried em.
