Arman: You’re My Boy Blue

June 12, 2014 by Meghan 25 Comments

I’m pretty sure we’ve established I have aging issues.

As in, I really don’t want to do it. It’s not easy watching my skin slowly lose elasticity and my eyes develop bags the size of the Grand Canyon. My advice would be to avoid it all costs, which I hear is feasible if money is no object, nor a fear of injecting yourself with foreign substances.

Today is not about me though. It’s about Arman. His birthday was Sunday and while I wish I could have celebrated with him in style, a blog post will have to suffice since he’s all the way over in Australia, ya know, the other side of the map. While geography’s not my strong suit, I do know he’s super far away, which made birthday celebrations damn near impossible. I did pour one out on the floor for him though. It might have been accidental; it happened nonetheless.

Arman once ate cheese with every meal as a tribute for my birthday, which means he gets me in ways other bloggers don’t. He’s also just so happens to be my favorite male blogger, ignoring the fact he’s the only male blogger I know. Obviously, I need to get out more.

He tells me the things I want to hear; a wonderful quality in a good friend, and he gives me sound advice when it comes to my culinary creations. For example, he’s the pineapple in my newest granola flavor: Coconut Lime Pineapple. I find him, his blog, and his style of writing open, honest and refreshing.

So in honor of him, I will be eating  (yes, again) some of his savory style pancakes. There’s enough hidden veggies in these things to fit a mac truck through. They also just so happen to be magically delicious.

Happy Birthday Arman. I’ll pour a pancake out on the floor for you. And then pick it up and eat it because hello, five second rule.

Did you wish Arman a Happy Birthday on Sunday? Chances are he will accept belated wishes so long as they come in the form of gelato. Have you ever tried savory pancakes? They’re really, really, ridiculously good (looking), I promise.

    I did!
All forms of pancakes are amazing in my opinion! Especially when having a ‘savoury pancake course’ followed by ‘dessert pancakes’ – best meal!!

Dirty kisses, I need to do that. Nice one Lucie.

We need to commiserate over a bottle of wine about our aging issues. Maybe some chocolate too.

It definitely counts. We even talked about Arman when we saw them. In fact, I say you get bonus points for that one.

I’ve never had savory pancakes… I feel like I’m missing out.

(Also, this talk of really good food is not helping my mid-morning hunger…)

You are the solo French brie in a sea of Australian brie.

You are the lurpak slightly salted butter (Danish brand) in a sea of Australian butter.

You are the feta cheese my mum and sister are eating every morning in the sea of Australian Full Fat feta which goes rancid when ‘melted’ on a pizza.

You are the pesto to my parmesan when it comes to waffles, pancakes and the upcoming scone recipe.

I’m thrilled to be the pesto to your parm. Match made in savory foodie heaven.

We did send him a birthday wish, remember? Vegemiteeeeee! 😀 It sucks that we couldn’t Skype him, though, but obviously he chose real life friends over us. Pft. Whatever. Next year we have to bully him into coming to Blend. Let’s start planning a kidnapping…
