Today marks my one year anniversary of Currently posts, which pretty much makes me a bazillion years old in blog time. Yeah, they’re like dog years, but accelerated. I’m still debating whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. How about I noodle it over, while you read what’s Currently going down.
One warning: there are lots of pictures of me in this post. I must be getting selfish in my old age. Carry on.
Current Book: Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, which is the exact same book I was reading last month. I’m feeling rather sheepish about this fact, and the truth of the matter is it takes a long time to finish a 900 plus page book when you average 6.9 sentences per night. What can I say? I’m a sleeper. I lay down and I’m out.
Current Music: If you read yesterday’s post on Seven Simple Dinner Ideas for the Work Week, you know Madonna made an appearance, along with a priest and a confessional. It gets weird up in here.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: I overhauled my makeup and ended with a brand new look from a local company, Lusso Cosmetics. Their products are made on-site, and are cruelty and fragrance free. The owner also told me I had tight pores, so he’s my new bestie; he just doesn’t know it yet.
Current Drink: coffee in the mornings, cocktails in the evenings, and water all day, every day. There might have been a boozy root beer float in there too.
Current Food: a little bit of this and a lot of that. Basically, if it’s on my Instagram account, it’s because I’m eating it.
Current Favorite Show: anything which allows me not to think. These days when I turn on the television, I’m looking for a mindless distraction.
(source)
Current Wish List: this haircut. I’ve been wanting to do this for forever or maybe just the last couple years. It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.
(source)
Current Indulgence: Sunday morning breakfasts with food, fruit and flowers. Sweet bliss in powdered sugar form. By the way, my baby brother totally flipped over the top piece of French toast because the other side was a bit too toasty. #trickeryanddeception.
Current Needs: to wash my face nightly, especially since I’m now rocking foundation. The thing is unless I’m getting in the shower to rinse off, I don’t like washing my face. It’s time-consuming, messy and adds at least another five minutes to my bedtime routine, which of course cuts into my book reading. How do women do this every night?
Current Triumphs: progress, except I missed a spot, like the entire middle of my nose.
Current Bane of Existence: ongoing construction outside my office at work. It’s been hardcore drilling six hours a day for the past week, and I don’t mean the good kind. It’s making me cuckoo for cocoa puffs.
Current Blessing: seeing my family and long-lost friends last weekend in Buffalo. Despite the weather outside, we still made a family run happen because that’s how we roll.
Current Excitement: Guess who’s going to the farmers market today? OhmygoshohmygoshIamsquealingnowwhiletwitchyspasticallylikeanexcitedpuppy.
Current Links: BlogLovin because there is blog reading to be had. I’m easily a week behind, which is par for the course with me.
Current Mood: over the top excited. In just a few days, I’m going to celebrate my birthday by dancing with the leprechauns in a pool of green beer, or maybe that’s the beer talking. ‘Eh, no matter. It’s gonna be fun. The whole city comes out to celebrate.
Your turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current Book? Current Mood? Would you be willing to rock a buzz cut? Are you always behind on blog reading too? Who wants to drink green beer with me and make poor food choices next Tuesday?

I was thinking the other day, “I should do a Currently post. When was the last time THAT happened?” But then I had a blog-related crisis of conscious whereby, since I read blogs every eight weeks or so (if I’m lucky) I didn’t even know if it was still a “thing.” Glad I checked with you. Now give me eight weeks to actually make it happen.
P.S. One day you and I will go to the Farmer’s Market together and you will help me actually make pretty looking IG photos.
P.P.S. I will also teach you an interpretative dance to Like a Prayer I made up (or stole from some much cooler older girls) in middle school.

I would love to go farmers marketing with you and I would happily teach you everything I know about Instagram Pictures and how to shotgun a beer. Liquid courage for our interpretive dance. 🙂

My husband was born in Belfast and his parents are as Irish as they get so we pretty much all started drinking at the beginning of March. They actually just gifted and delivered us a “beer fridge” yesterday and I went into the garage to check it out and it’s a full-size fridge. I’m like, aren’t beer fridges supposed to be small? And they’re like, no.

SQUEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeEEEE! happy early day of birth! i will certainly celebrate with you, ab-soooo-toootely-tu
i can’t stay awake when i start reading at night either. it’s like reading has turned into NyQuil for me or something… i open my book, start reading, and them DOOMF, i’m out. i wasn’t always this way, really.
also, i can’t wash my face at nigth either!!!! as i have grown older, i have started to rebel on certain beauty regimes. when i was a young filly, i used to spend hours getting all dolled up and then doing all sorts of face cleansing action morning and night. WTF who has time for that??? i actually stopped washing my face completely for 2 years – i’m not kidding. i did this actually recently and didn’t wash my face till this year. AND i only wash it in the shower, so far i have been using Burt’s bee stuff and notice nothing at all but like the smell. oh i forgot to mention that my skin actually got better when i stopped washing my face. i know. your mind is effin blown right now. it’s okay. estee lauder has a sniper out for me i’m guessing. i’m destroying the beauty industry, save yourself!!!
Meghan says
I love the musical quality of your contents. I actually try to write the same way, although there’s a lesser jam band Dr. Seuss vibe than you rock. Have you ever considered starting a blog? Also, are you on Instagram?
I’m like you. I give my face a good wash in the shower and that’s usually it. All this other nonsense…ain’t nobody got time for that.
Estee lauder is yuck! I used them for years and I’m glad to be done with them. Now that have snipers out for both of us.

Current mood: slightly grumpy and overly tired. Anticipating my own birthday in a couple of days.
Happy early birthday!

I like funny and entertaining. I’ll have to check this book out, although I’m sorry you’re slightly grumpy and overtired. I usually find the two are related. Hoping you got some good rest last night and feel better too.

I have a confession: I don’t go to Whole Foods. I have though before and my favorite part was the in store kitchen area. I got to pull up a bar stool, have a glass of wine and order lunch. That was nice.

No joke, I would love to rock a buzz cut too and have thought about it foreverrrr. I have actually been trying to get the courage to take the leap for a pixie cut first though. I just hate hair and it’s a total hassle. I say you buzz your locks, you already look good with really short hair. BOOYA FARMERS MARKET! All the cheese and veggies! Ummm you look hot in the photo with your makeup, tight pores for the win.

Ooh, happy almost birthday!! I think you should celebrate with that cropped haircut. I have cut my hair super short before, right before going to Korea and getting my ID photo taken, and have been told multiple times by different people that I look like a Russian spy in the picture. Needless to say I’m in no rush to cut it off again, but you, my friend, could definitely pull it off (cuz you already do).
Currently I am working from bed/catching up on blogs. My book is due back to the library in less than a week and I have yet to crack it open…perhaps today is the (rainy) day to start that.
Meghan says
I think a Russian spy sounds like a great cover. Hmmm, I need to ponder this more. Enjoy the rainy day reading.

Haha I’m the same way with reading at night – usually my eyes start drooping after only a page! My current book is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest – it’s good so far, but I feel like I’m not that hooked into it.

DEFINITELY go for the buzz cut- you will rock it! Unfortunately I don’t think I’m cool enough to pull it off ;)! I used to be just the same about washing my face at night – never happened. After going for a facial a few months ago and seeing the amount of dirt that comes out of our face every day, I was converted almost instantly. Even on nights where I have had a bit too much to drink, I can’t go to bed without washing my face!
HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY, Meg….hope it starts with a public banana and ends with multiple mugs of public beer :)!

The way I figure it, we will ALWAYS be behind on our blog reading because life is bloody freckin busy and there are SO many incredibly talented, amazing and delicious people to keep up with. We’re really lucky that way. But we make our rounds every chance we get and that’s all anyone can ask. So don’t worry about it – much love.
Also, I HATE washing my face. To the point that I will go out of my way to meet up with friends all on the same day so I don’t have to do it more than I absolutely have to.
Lastly, cheese at the farmer’s market is the best part.

I tried to read Pillars of the Earth and could not. Not my style I determined. I also tend to fall asleep while reading, like you.
