Scenes from the Weekend

May 4, 2015 by Meghan 44 Comments

I’m feeling short on words today.

Not to be confused with my actual height, which is itty bitty, although I do manage to sneak my way onto most amusement park rides. Tippy toes is totally a thing. Besides, what I lack in stature, I make up for with mental prowess, also known as my ginormous ego. Yes in spite of my flaws, I happen to think I’m pretty fantastic.

I’m also honest too, which is why I’m going to be totally frank with you right now.

The Hubby being home is crimping my blogging schedule. It’s hard to write, read, and photograph when I’m affixed to his leg (I’ll let you decide which one). We also entertained some of my favorite house guests this past weekend and we are mere days away from jumping on a jet plane bound for San Diego, so we can frolic in the sun and the surf with Laura and Lucie. Busy is an understatement.

The long and short of it is blogging is taking a bit of a back seat right now, which means today’s post is coming by way of photos. You guys hear me prattle on enough, it only makes sense to let pictures do the talking. I did group them by category though: Life, Food, Fitness and Shenanigans. This is me after all.

You can take the words outta my mouth, but you can’t take the self-diagnosed OCD outta my brain. Let’s begin.

Pictures speak a thousand words..or something like that! Looks like you had a fun (and delicious weekend)- that chocolate sounds insanely delicious…butter makes everything better, even despite the fact that I would never think to pair it with chocolate. So much FOMO that you’ll be hanging out with Lucie & Laura- give them both a big hug!

Sir mix a lot approved asparagus is awesome, especially since you grew it yourself! Whenever I have a busy weekend I have zero energy to blog and somehow nothing to say, but there are usually more pictures 🙂 Two more things: I’m jealous of your brown butter chocolate and need to find some, and all your other food looks incredible as usual. The OCD has to work for us somehow I suppose 😉

I definitely did notice the asparagus, considering you had arrows pointing it out 😛 Hopefully this year you’ll get more than 1 stalk. And hopefully this year I’ll be able to grow something of my own! I don’t have a backyard for a garden, but I’ve thought about buying some potted tomato plants and seeing what they give me. The only thing is that I’m terrible with plants and my balcony isn’t exactly friendly to them either. If anything, I’ll just steal veggies from my parents 😛

I’ve gotten two stalks already and me and my houseguests each got to eat half a stalk. 🙂 🙂 There’s another one coming up so I’m hopefully there will be more to come. I’ll be living large on asparagus. 🙂

I love growing my own veggies, although there’s something nice about snagging some from the in-laws garden too though.

Your asparagus is purple! I’m in love. I haven’t started growing anything yet this year but I usually do beans, peas, spinach, and tomatoes. Nice pictures, and your bit of writing that you did do for the post had me laughing as usual. I’m glad your husband is home and have fun in San Diego!

YESSS I was hoping there would be a photo of the asparagus cooked and ready to be consumed. I am so proud of that for you. I’ve been using a lot of rosemary from my garden, but nothing else. Possibly because I haven’t really planted anything. HA. My mom planted a few things, so perhaps when those grow I will harvest them. What a lovely weekend indeed!

I vote for the third leg…the shorter of the three.

I’m so delighted and impressed by your life in color and of course I’m totally green with envy at your homegrown asparagus. This is one of my favorite vegetables! I love veggies that also act as rods and skewers. The asparagus can wear many hats and I am a hat lover.
We finally bought some potted plants for our balcony, which is just a Yorkie sunning and peepee area right now. So the colorful plants act a nice touch. And I welcome the dogs to spray with love. My goal this year is the sprout some things so I’ll just leave it at that. No pressure, I’m not exactly known for green thumbs. Yet!
The weekend was grand, the man of the house returned home on Thursday so we had date nights all weekend. And daytime dates too, wink. He also helped me with my blog, approved some writing, and one of these days you can read my crazy sauce.

Blogging has definitely taken a backseat for me since moving in with JZ! But hey, that’s life. Better to live it and enjoy it! 🙂

Kudos on growing your own asparagus!! I can only grow kale and collards without killing them – that’s because they’re easy and grow wild even when I don’t touch them all summer (seriously lol).

My last week in pictures would show me teaching a class for people with Celiac disease, driving by fields of cows on my way to work, meeting up with a friend for good conversation but crappy food at an Italian restaurant, and doing the walk for MS on Sunday! 🙂
