Week in Review: # 18

February 15, 2016 by Meghan 48 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

Week In Review Button Final

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back.

Need more details? Head here. ♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

  • I worked 40 plus hours on the job which pays my bills, including a couple late nights, which is why my new Sweet and Savory Trail Mix Granola didn’t get posted last week. Good things come to those who wait though or so I’ve been told. Patience has never been my strong suit.

Sweet, salty, crispy, crunchy, chewy, this Trail Mix Granola will make your taste buds dance and your mouth sing.

  • I submitted my application to Recipe Redux, after being on their waitlist for months. First Recipe Redux, then world domination. It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.
  • I did some volunteer work with the Cleveland Food Bank, and I loved every minute of it.

Cleveland Food Bank Mobile Pantry

  • I put on my own socks and shoes every single day, and while this may not seem like much, it’s rapidly becoming a big deal for me. The struggle is real.
  • I had lunch out with my coworkers on Thursday. Grilled cheese and salad for the win.

Grilled Cheese and Chopped Salad from Lago

  • I watched Bridge of Spies. It took me two viewings to finish the movie, but I blame the pregnancy energy suck for that more than anything. I adore Tom Hanks.
  • I hit up the West Side Market where I spent $20 plus dollars on just fruit, not to mention the pasta, the peanut butter, the cheese or the olives. The Unborn Child’s obsession with expensive out of season berries continues. Just wait until she gets the real thing.

West Side Market Produce

  • I went out to dinner with the Hubby’s family on Saturday night. I ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri and felt all kinds of fancy. It’s the little things in life.
  • I made Juli’s Vegetarian Mozzarella Gnocchi with Marina Sauce, at which point I died and went to heaven. I’m considering asking her to move into the guest bedroom once we’re done with the renovations. Surely, her husband won’t mind.

Vegetarian Mozzarella Gnocchi with Marinara Sauce

  • Speaking of home renovations, the Hubby and I spent several hours on Sunday ripping up more carpet. I guess you could say I got wood for Valentine’s Day.

Hardwood Floors - Pulling Up Carpet

  • We also did some window shopping online and in stores, scoping out furniture and paint colors for the soon to be new guest bedroom. Decisions, decisions.
  • Last but certainly not least, I spent an hour Sunday morning, curled up in bed, reading my book. I wish more days started like this.

Your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

You have nice floors under there! This weekend was fairly productive with taxes done, a date night, activating my new phone and hooking up a wifi router that’s been sitting in the package for a month. Little things – I agree!

Dude, those things are amazing. You were hella productive and I hope you had a fantastic date night.

The floors are gorgeous, although there’s one water damaged part which will need some TLC (i.e sanding). I’ll never understand how people cover up beautiful hard wood, especially with a tacky looking carpet.

I am so happy you like the recipe! And you made it look fabulous!
Consider myself moved in already! If I can bring my husband. I can’t say he is small and you wouldn’t notice him much but he is a nice guy and if you give him access to any device where he can watch sports or read about it he’ll not even notice where he is 😉

I love the granola shot. Seriously I find it so hard to get decent pictures when liquids are involved. Also I hope you will work less this week and get to post the recipe because I am out of granola and need some variety.

I could die for those berries right now. I eat next to no fruit (besides bananas) because everything here is ao unappealing. 3 month to wait for the berries to come back. Only about 2 for asparagus though 😀

You will not be surprised to know, I have two bundles of asparagus in my fridge right now. Being pregnant and wanting fresh produce is getting to be very expensive. 🙂

We’ll make room for Stefan especially if he makes chocolate molten mug cakes. Him and the Hubby can watch sports to their hearts content. In fact, the Hubby will probably love having someone to talk sports with all the time because I don’t listen at all. Granted, you may have to put up with a crying baby from time to time….

Granola should be up Wednesday, especially since I’m off work this week. Hallelujah!

You totally got wood for VD. And next will come the waxing and staining, right? SO MANY DOUBLE ENTENDRES. I fell asleep promptly during Bridge of Spies when we watched it with my parents in Mexico, but I still want to actually see it. I will blame… sun and tequila for that one.

Omg $20 on fruit! I wonder how many bananas I could get for that? I almost spent $33 on peanut butter, but stopped myself because I already have four jars and I don’t need a $33 tub right now. Soon though, very soon 😉 Three things I accomplished, I read two books, did my laundry and made homemade butterfingers. I wish I hadn’t eaten them all already 🙁

Yeah $33 on nut butter is a bit crazy.

Also with regard to the fruit, it might help to know I got bananas (3 bunches), 2 pints of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, 4 kiwis, 4 pears, 4 lemons, a mango, and maybe a few others. I’m eating an obscene amount of fruit right now. It’s getting quite costly, although I’m getting a pretty big bang for my buck at the market. 🙂

I was super surprised to see that you have gorgeous hardwood floors under your carpet. Why would someone do that??! When my parents ripped up their carpets, the only thing under there was those… err… I have no idea what they’re called. But it was basically just huge boards of ugly wood. And I’m jealous of your berries. I’d KILL for something other than bananas, apples, oranges, and pears right now. I’ve been buying frozen berries, but they’re just not the same 🙁

It’s an old home so I knew we’d have hardwood underneath. I just didn’t realize they’d be in such great shape.

I’m down to my last bag of frozen blueberries from the summer. I’ve been hoarding those babies because they are sooooo flippin’ good. The fortune I spend on fresh produce right now doesn’t come close to those beauties.

I seriously cannot relate to people who cover up nice hardwood with carpet. Get a rug, you fool. Honestly.

That aside, that granola shot is fantastic & so is the bowl it’s in.

In terms of grown up accomplishments this week? I fed myself, bathed myself & am still breathing, so we’re going to put that all down as a WIN. But my social plans took the front seat this week. Adulting can wait.

Right, I can’t understand why someone would cover up those gorgeous hardwood floors either.

I got that bowl at Target a few years ago for a couple bucks. Totally worth it.

Feeding and bathing oneself is an accomplishment all on it’s own. I’d call the week a win too.

I’m wiped out from all the festivities last week, might take a day or so to properly recover. We had Chinese New Year celebrations and feasts, my birthday celebrations, which happened thrice, and many other fun things but I’m officially pooped. I got a sewing machine and have enrolled in classes so I don’t sew my fingers together. And the damn cough is still lingering around. I’m looking for time to rest, it’s hidden somewhere.

Money-saving solution to being addicted to out-of-season berries: buy them frozen and thaw them under cold, running water. The texture’s a little different, but they’re good enough in my book!

Great tip. I’m a fan of frozen fruit too, but I can usually get a shitton of fresh at the West Side Market for a decent price, even better than frozen. Granted, they don’t exactly taste as good as in season berries, but they get the job done. 🙂

I am loving that putting your shoes and socks on yourself is on your achievement list because it SO is! Haha.

It looks like you got lucky with ripping up that carpet. Jesse and I decided ripping up carpet was such an easy task last year that we ripped up the carpet in our ENTIRE church building. Needless to say, it wasn’t an easy task because our church always leaks when it rains, meaning the carpet was soggy underneath and Jesse and I spent an entire WEEK pulling out nails, scraping off soggy wet gross underlay and swearing that we would NEVER rip up carpet ever again, haha!

Also, I’m not opposed to your world domination if that means granola for everyone.
