Eating Crow

January 11, 2013 by Meghan 16 Comments

I’ve got a confession to make. I might be just a teeny weenie bit sick. Not full-blown of course, but I’m actually taking over the counter meds now, which I generally try to avoid at all costs.

Time to eat some crow

The reason I’m actually admitting it is because I didn’t do a blog post last night. Instead I soaked in a scalding hot bath for forever and a day and tried to sweat out the sickness. I’m a big believer you can sweat out the bad stuff, despite having no real logic to support my theory. I have no idea if this works, but I feel I’m doing something constructive. If you agree, let me know. If not, silence is golden.

I’ve also taken to stuffing a Kleenex up my nose and leaving it there. I’ll be honest; it’s not the greatest look for me, but since my nose decided to turn into a dripping faucet, I really have no choice. This saves time, money, and my face from turning into a red and raw wasteland from excessive nose blowing.

Since I don’t want to leave you with such a sad and pathetic mental image of myself (it sounds much worse than it actually is), I’m going to share one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received. This one came to me, by way of my big brother at Christmas. He was my “Secret Santa,” so he had this shirt created just for me. Thanks Bro.

And the view from the back (always my favorite angle).

Bam! Double Bam! Move Over Emeril; I am coming to town…once I’m back on my feet, that is.

My older brother and I don’t always see eye to eye on our food choices, but he’s one of my biggest supporters and really what more could a sister want?  Other than health, but with a weekend devoted to rest and relaxing, I should be back to full speed in no time. I’m already half way there.

Since I’ll be taking it easy, I need to live vicariously through you.

Tell me what you’re getting into this weekend? Anything exciting? Any big cooking plans? Or workout dreams fulfilled? I want to hear all about it.

I definitely believe you can sweat out sickness. Unless you pass out from combo heat and sick, that wouldn’t be good! Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah! I didn’t pass out, and I’m actually starting to feel a bit better (knock on wood) so it may work after all.

Oh this post made me laugh. NOT that you’re sick, but just the humor in between the lines. I hope you feel 100% soon. I think sweating it out is true. Sweat carries toxins so SWEAT like you’re in labor to get it all out! That shirt is awesome, what a great gift.

I’m glad you get my humor. When I read your blog, I felt the exact same way.
And you agree about sweating out the sickness, so now I like you even more.

Seems like everyone is sick these days! Get some sleep and hopefully you’ll be better by the end of the weekend. This weekend I’m hiking, watching the nfl play-off games, teaching, hiking again….and hopefully laying on the couch and relaxing too!

Lots of hiking, but also lots of fun. I need to get outside and do some hiking when the weather is nicer here. Have a great time!

I won’t say I knew you were sick. But I do hope you’re feeling better soon.
Would it freak you out to know that tonight I’m trying my hand at a deep dish spinach and feta pizza on an eggnog-butternut crust? I’ve not done a deep dish pizza in aeons, so wish me luck.

Right. I’m off to work out in my basement after I comment on 3 more blogs because your last question nags at me to get my bum in gear.

Oh My Word; that sounds DIVINE. Seriously spinach, feta, eggnog and butternut. Wow, I’m blown away and now it’s my turn to bow before you, Madame Pizza Queen. Good luck; I can’t wait to read and see all about it, once you finish your workout, of course. I haven’t been to the gym all week so I’m jealous.

Being sick just SUCKS! Wish we lived near each other so we could lounge around together, watch trashy TV & eat whatever

Wouldn’t that be wonderful. Maybe eat some fruit and then a bon-bon or two or three.

Oooh pizza, that sounds good. Thanks for the good vibes; I have been doing pretty much nothing but resting all weekend, and I think it’s paying off.
