Happy Monday. I’m afraid I don’t have much of an intro for you today, and by not much, I really mean none. You see, the Hubby and I went on a quick road trip to Buffalo and back this past weekend to see my family. I haven’t been home since Christmas so we were past due. The downside is I have no small talk for you today. I know you’re thoroughly disappointed, but I suspect you’ll manage to survive without my witty banter on a Monday morning. Although coffee on the other hand is a necessity.
Since this is a Week In Review post, we’re just going to jump right into a list (oh the joys of listing) of what I accomplished in the last week (aside from the road trip).
- I worked a normal and sane forty hours on the jobby job.
- I did a Boot Camp class, a Spinning class, and I went running twice, once with my brother, my father, and the Hubby in torrential winds, rain and even hail. I think the Tough Mudder gods were testing us, but we prevailed.
- I plowed through not one, not two, but three People magazines. I’m majorly backlogged again, and I actually made the decision a month ago not to renew my weekly subscription. Now that I’ve made this decision though, it seems like it will never end. It’s the Terminator; it keeps coming and coming and coming.
- I did a lot of cooking and I ate really damn good as a result, including Peas and Crayons very own Alfredo sauce. Now that’s winning, and by the way, I’m taking this phrase back from Charlie Sheen.
- I paid the bills because somebody’s got to do it and since I play with numbers for a profession, it might as well be me.
- I did motherly things on Mother’s Day. Yes I am childless, but my oldest cat didn’t want me to feel left out, so he projectile vomited all over the dining room rug. That was fun.
- Even more fun, I putzed around in the yard for a few hours and tended to my flora. Aren’t peonies just the prettiest?
- I wrote and published three blog posts, including a special giveaway edition. The winners will be announced on Wednesday; I know I’m a tease. I like it like that.
- And the final and most exciting accomplishment in the past week was doing a Mother’s Day Harlem Shake video with the family because that’s how we roll.
Alright, enough about me, let’s hear from you. Link up and let me know what you got. I know it’s going to be good.
What did you manage to knock off your lists last week? Anything noteworthy? Would your family do a Harlem Shake video with you? And then allow you to post it on the internet for all to see (there’s something not quite right about us).
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli says
Omg, that video!! Bahahaha! Seriously, I would have to do all sorts of Googling and whatnot to even begin to explain what the Harlem shake IS…but yeah, pretty sure my parents would never go for it! Lol
LOVE peonies! I noticed this weekend that the man-friend’s neighbor has some…so pretty!
Aww, I didn’t get vomit, but Tiger did leave me with enough fucking cat hair all over the fucking house to warrant me saying fuck more than FIVE FUCKING TIMES while I drug out the vacuum and threatened him with it! 😉
Yay for food!!! Um, why didn’t I get my invite to dinner?! PS, I want that mini muffin, but you already ated it didn’t you??
Meghan says
There was some googling involved, but my family is pretty much game for anything. If you can score some of those peonies, you should try to grab some. They are so beautiful and, once the ants crawl out, utterly enjoyable.
So I’m sensing a little stress over the feline fur. Do you need me to come and bring my vacuum? I’ve got skillz, especially when it comes to cat fur.
I ate all the muffins, the minis and the mamas. I brought them to Buffalo so I did at least share.
Fran@BCDC says
No, No, No…Meghan and Heather…the Best would be if I could get Ralph to do the Harlem Shake. And yes much Googling would be necessary to explain it to him! Glad you got to go home for a quick visit, Meghan, what fun. I love the peonies. I’m in a photography group now call Be Still and See. Your photo is the kind of think we talk about a lot. Love it! My review seems hugely long…I should probably scale it back a bit. Have a great day!!
Meghan says
Google away and then get Ralph in on the act. Tell him to hurry up and harlem shake it.
You do your review whatever way works for you Fran. I think you got a spectacular amount of work accomplished and I love that you are linking up now. 🙂
Khushboo says
Errr can I be part of your family?? That harlem shake video has me cracking up so hard- SUCH a great sense of humor and what a talented bunch…thanks for brightening up my Moan-day :)!
Meghan says
Yes but only if you do the Harlem Shake with us. We’ll take in anyone if they have a good sense of humor.
Eating 4 Balance says
I’m not even sure I would want any of my family members to do a Harlem Shake video with me. That would be just plain creepy. Seriously, I’m not even sure I could watch it myself with getting creeped out and they’re MY family. 🙂 Yours is pretty great however– what are you holding as you’re dancing? Is that one of your backlogged People magazines? haha.
Beautiful picture of the pink peony. You did a great job of capturing the water droplets. So pretty.
Meghan says
Good eye!! It is, in fact, my backlogged People. I brought a bushel of magazines with me this weekend in hopes of working through them.
I love the peonies and I was able to get out there Saturday morning just as the rain was going away and the sun was coming out. Good timing.
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Holy crap I am DYING at that harlem shake video. Hahahahah.
Meghan says
I know; it cracks me up everytime I watch it. I’m so glad we did one; it was such fun.

when I lived in toronto, I’d go to buffalo all the time to shop! North Tanawanda and Cheektawaga…. I’ll never forget those names…..
Meghan says
I’m so jelaous you lived in Toronto. It’s a great city.
The Buffalo names are really tongue twisters, and I bet you hit up the outlet malls right near Niagara Falls.
Thanks for linking up love! You make me smile.
Stacey Belasic says
You and your family are GREAT! I just LOVED that video!!!!!!!!!!
Meghan says
Thanks Stacey. We had a blast doing it.
kirsten@FarmFreshFeasts says
My weekly Map My Walk stats–and I wasn’t even trying! The spouse was off for the better part of the week, so when it wasn’t raining we were walking the dog. And of course the family 5K on Saturday:
15 workouts
13 routes
33.6 miles
9.4 hours
3.2 Triscuits
Meghan says
I don’t know; it might be 5.2 triscuits. I think your cutting yourself short a triscuit or two. Congrats on the family 5k. I love that you all do it together.
Alyssa @ Road to RD says
I’m loving the food you made! It all looks so delicious!
Meghan says
Thanks Alyssa. I certainly like eating it.
Allie says
Ahh, nothing says, “I love you mom,” like projectile vomit. Although, I have to say that any time I feel like projectile vomiting IS when I most want my mom around to take care of me. This is also why I have no interest in mother-hood.
Diggin’ the video. My family would never go for it, but my boss did. Luckily, I was out of the office the day he put on a wetsuit and made everyone make a Harlem shake video…
Meghan says
I’m with you on the motherhood thing. The cats are enough work for me.
I can’t believe your boss did a Harlem Shake video. Now that is awesome. I think I’m going to suggest it here at work. Ha!
Jessie says
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! I’ve had a pretty rough morning, but seriously after watching this video I think it’s safe to say I’m all smiles… and I may or may not of some sore abs from laughing so hard. Thank you!
Meghan says
I’m glad you enjoyed it; lord knows we had a blast doing it. We’re a crazy bunch that’s for sure.
Sammy says
Hahaha that’s amazing that your whole family was up for a goofy harlem shake video!! Also, cats are just delightful aren’t they?!
Meghan says
Delightful is one way to put it. I definitely utter some choice words while cleaning up after them.
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because says
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Love whoever is flopping around under the sheet. That video looks like it was a lot of fun 🙂
I think that working full-time definitely counts as a major accomplishment, though I do envy those funemployed bloggers 😛
Meghan says
I know. The ghost might be my favor character. That’s actually my niece under there, and it was her and her friends idea to do the video. It was such a good time.
Working full time definitely counts because that’s where all my time goes. The same goes for being in school, and who are these fun unemployed bloggers. How do we get that gig?
Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily says
I love peonies! We have some in the backyard, my favorite flower by far 🙂
Meghan says
Aren’t they just beautiful. I usually cut some and bring them into the house (once I get the ants to vacate them, that is).
