I’m not here today.
You can’t hear me. You can’t see me. You probably can’t even read this right now. That’s right. I am a blogging Ninj-ress, which is the feminine version of Ninja. Obviously. I’d tell you to check Wikipedia just in case you had any doubts about my verbiage choices, but they need to update their records. I’ve already submitted a request; several actually.
Here’s the deal or the low-down, as I like to call it.
I’m taking a blogging staycation this week, which means I won’t be posting any new material or anything at all for that matter. I will however be hanging out in the blogosphere, working on my mile long Blogging To Do List, which really only is the length of my forearm. That mile business might have been an exaggeration. Then again, I am pretty flexible. You should see my Crouching Tiger, Hidden Ninj-ress.
I’ve come to the conclusion, I can’t juggle it all without sacrificing my Meghan time, and since I’m fairly selfish about that last one, my to do list remains untackled (get on it, Wikipedia). If all goes smoothly, there will be subtle changes around here and my recipes will get a facelift along with the skin around my eyes. Just kidding; I’m too young for that, although if you know of any organic fillers or locally sourced Botox, let me know.
Since I hate to leave you empty-handed, I’ll share my Saturday night Easter dinner with the Hubby. We had a spinach salad (farmers market purchase) topped with fresh raspberries, green onions, blue cheese and toasted walnuts. Our main course was a pizza on a garlic infused crust, topped with pesto (from my deep freezer), asparagus, and Coconut Gouda and Swiss cheese (more farmers market fun). Dessert was Amanda’s Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie.
Of course, I would never leave you high and dry where your weekly recaps are concerned, especially since our attendance has doubled as of late. I extend a big ol’ thank you to everyone who has participated and who continues to participate. I dig you the most.

Madison @ Eating for Balance says
I’ll miss the visible Meghan when the ninja Meghan comes into play this week, but I’m excited to see what facelifting magic you have in your hands. Especially for the recipes!
So I love that picture… The asparagus spoke wheel design on your pizza is gorgeous… the cookie skillet… is, well, a big cookie so duh, and the pebble bottom provides such a nice contrast.
Happy Monday and have a great week!
Meghan says
Thanks Madison! As you can see, I’m already procrastinating by responding to minutes old comments. Oops, guess I better get to work!

I would like you to know that I have 3 To Do lists scribbled on the back of a “To the Parents Of” envelope from the school: a To Do For Blog list, a To Do For Yard list, and a To Do For House list.
I think it’s very telling the order that I wrote those lists out.
I’d love to link the list up, but I’m not going to alter the whole blog flow thing for a non-recipe. Which post to link up, though, that is a toughie. I like the message of the single tasking in the sea salt caramel chocolate matzoh toffee, I like the gooey cheesiness of the avocado bell pepper caramelized onion and Hatch chile enchiladas, and I like the fresh Springness of the wild violet muffins with wild violet sugar.
Advise, and I’ll link.
For you, though, my lists:
To Do For Blog: update recipe indexes, submit to food porn, type/publish margarita smoothie and guacamole grilled cheese posts, type up written notes, work on May schedule.
To Do For Yard: water the newly emerging shallots, peas, and chard, add a ladder for the peas to reach the bottom of the trellis/keep Vincent out of the garden, turn the compost in the Dalek, water it, and tuck it in to finish, harvest the worm bin, clean the porch, move the houseplants outside and give them some worm castings, and finally soak the geraniums that overwintered bare root in the basement, replant them and transfer to the porch to get used to the outdoors.
To Do For House: remove the summer weight dyne (comforter) as the two weeks where it’s too warm for the winter weight dyne yet not warm enough for just the duvet have ended, mop the perimeter of the main floor, dust (ha, like that will ever happen), yeah, I’m just not feeling the rest of the in-house stuff.
I’m off today and will not get all of this done.
Meghan says
I’m off today as well. Enjoying a lovely and long four day weekend. I’m planning on packing up my laptop and having lunch out at a café which will force me to work on my blogging list, and the number 1 item is to create a spreadsheet of all my recipes, the links, and the categories I think they should be in. Once I’ve established that, I will add additional columns for each of the food porn sites I need to submit them to. Then I will overhaul all my recipes at which point, I can start submitting to the various food porn sites again. Alas, I will not accomplish all of this today, but I do intend to put a nice dent in it. I also want to rake and fertilize the yard. I am an ambitious woman, I know. Last on my list, but probably the most important will be some single tasking activities (meditation in a sun patch, an easy jog) so that is the post I think you should link up. Although the wild violet muffins would be pretty cool too, so if you’re feeling wild (play on words there), go ahead and link that one too.
Thanks for sharing your To Do lists; they made me smile big. Especially that dusting one. 😉
kirsten@FarmFreshFeasts says
Done! And for the record, I spent the morning cleaning the screen porch like it hasn’t been cleaned since we moved in. I washed all the furniture, the walls, swept the floor–then moved out the plants and my daughter and I ate lunch out in the awesomeness that is Spring. I decluttered some of the garage, building on what the spouse started yesterday and amassing a pile of terra cotta pots to donate to the Airman’s Attic on base. While I was dropping off some kitchen items last week a gal there was looking for flower pots. So most of my Outdoor List is done.
I cannot repot my geraniums because I’m nearly out of potting soil, so I’m holding off that task, but the worms will get their little world rocked this afternoon–once the kids get home to open the door as my worm casting hands don’t like to touch things.
Now I’m copying/pasting everything I need to go down the line and submit to the food porn sites, then I’ll do the recipe index and then the kids will probably be home and I’ll need to parent or something. But the porch–so pleased to have that done. Compost, too.
Have a lovely rest of day.

Davida @ The Healthy Maven says
You are absolutely not allowed to disappear like this. Not cool Meg.
Kidding, be as selfish as you want! Davida time is actually spent blogging (or watching trashy reality TV) so it works in my favour but this summer you better bet I’ll be taking some breaks!
Meghan says
Breaks are a girl’s best friend. Diamonds aren’t bad either.
caren says
Kudos to you for taking a little time to yourself. I’m always impressed with how consistent you are with your blog! Now if I could only get my own act together…..
Meghan says
Aw thanks love. I try to do 3 posts a week, but I take breaks every couple of months or so. It’s good for me, and occasionally I’ll miss a post here or there. Nobody seems to mind, so if I’m ever really stressing about having to write one, I just decided not to write one. Stress gone. Works like a charm every time.
Although this is a different kind of break; this is a working break so we’ll see how it goes. I locked myself in a coffee shop yesterday and made some progress. If I have to do that every day though, I’ll be very over caffeinated. Ha.
Pip {Cherries & Chisme} says
Happy staycation! Have a relaxing week!
I made the giant cookie too 😀 amazeballs.
Meghan says
Amazeballs is right! Here’s to giant cookies. 🙂
Brittany says
You dinner photo is GORGEOUS! As is that cookie skillet, I hope you had mad money loving after that. Enjoy the staycation! Please come redo my blog while you’re at it??
Meghan says
I did not partake in mad monkey loving after that dinner, but it do go down the night before and the day after. 😉
I’d love to help, but my forward movement has been minimum thus far, so I’ve got months more to go over here. Basically I’m not booking myself out until 2015. But then, I’m all yours….and the Hubby’s. 😉

You should! I’d love to say it’s been a success, but turns out my recipes were way more jacked up than I thought. It’s still been worthwhile though.

Ninja staycation? I love it! I wish I was being as blog productive as you this week, but alas I’m quieting my online presence while I write my last few papers so I can graduate (wouldn’t have made sense to do them throughout the semester, right?). Can’t wait to see what changes you’re getting up to, my to do list is more miles than I can run 🙂
Meghan says
Good luck with the papers. I know you’ll do great and they you’ll really, really, really be completely done! Celebration time.
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
My blogging to-do list only gets shorter on the days I don’t end up blogging as well. Can’t do it all or I start feeling too overwhelmed. I feel a little bad when I take too many days off, but man oh man does it feel good to knock some of those lingering blogging tasks off the old list. And at least I’ll still get my Meghan fix through e-mails… which I still need to respond to! Ack.
Amanda @ .running with spoons. recently posted…. link love 4/20 .

No worries and certainly no pressure from me. The to do list is taking much longer than I had anticipated. I’m thinking I need a new approach. Although I did install Comment Luv and I am using Recipe Card, both thanks to you!!! So thank you; I appreciate it.
Khushboo says
Blogging staycation…as in no posts this week?? That’s a bit selfish! I kid, I kid! Enjoy your time off and hopefully it leaves you full of energy & sanity! Mine was longer than a week and it definitely made a difference to my approach to blogging- it reminded me why I started a blog in the first place and took away that pressing need to always get a post up.
On a food-related note, love what you did with the asparagus tips on the pizza!

It’s leaving me frustrated and overworked. Changing my recipes is a tedious and turns out way longer than a week long task, even with the no new posts. Oh well, time to rethink my strategy.
The asparagus pizza was divine, although I owe most of that to the pesto base. Yum.

Have fun on your blogging staycation! Hope you get to enjoy some Meghan time 🙂
Let’s not talk too much about to do lists… mine is too long to admit! For example answering all those lovely comments you left on my latest posts 🙂

You have a blogging to-do list? So fancy! I write down a few ideas for posts, but that’s about it. I’m not self-hosted or into posting recipes with cool pictures and writing that makes me sound like a really big loser. Anyway, good for you for a break. We all need that from time to time. We also need pizza like that. Holy hell, that looks good 😉

Oh my friend, I can smell a blogging staycation on the horizon- It’s just overwhelming at times. I even have a post on this very topic. Maybe I should sync it with my ‘gone fishing’ sign.
Glad to hear something was eaten out of the freezer…although with CSA coming back I have no doubts it will be replaced with something else soon.
Random but I remember one of the first blogging-interactions we had was you telling me you freeze shredded zucchini and ever since then, a beautiful blendship was formed.
Arman @ thebigmansworld recently posted…Going public….with your blog
Meghan says
I remember that interaction!! I have used that frozen zucchini on several occasions now and all with great success. When it defrosts, the water just comes right out. It doesn’t get any easier.
The deep freezer is getting really low, with the exception of fruit. I need to go to town on that stuff so I can have him completely ready for CSA season. Let the restocking begin. 🙂

you’re only allowed to disappear if it means coming back with a vengeance, like more recipes, funnies, and food pics! and plus you are going to Blend, so you can’t disappear there!
