I need more time.
It turns out I’m not ready to jump off my blogging staycation train yet.
It might be because I made little tangible progress, not to be confused with actual progress, on my recipe revamp project, although you will find a new category in my header section, which reads “Granola, Energy Bars, Nuts & Other Snacks.” Yes, I realize it’s a bit wordy, which should surprise no one who knows me. If you were to actually click on that lovely little mouthful though, you’d be taken to my new Recipe Index, also known as clickable thumbnail pictures. Go ahead and click it. Click it for real (and then report back…please).
The plan is to install one of these for all of my recipe categories. I just need to figure what all those recipes actually are, so I can create manageable categories for them, which is no small potatoes. Speaking of, I’m pretty sure they need their own category; I could call it Spuds for short.
In addition to my goals being lofty and the project time-consuming, there might have been another reason my intentions were thwarted last week. The Hubby has returned to Cleveland for the summer, which means we spent the better part of the past forty-eight hours frolicking in every possible place imaginable.
By the way, I am talking about actual frolicking. I know where the Hubby and I are concerned there might be some double entendre action, but it was absolutely delightful to spend the last two days completely together, without schoolwork or blogging interfering. It was also wonderful not to have pack him up and say good-bye last night. A girl could get used to this.
Oh and while I don’t have much of a recap, which is code for any recap, I did manage to sneak a few pictures. Shh, don’t tell.
Farmers marketing, day drinking (β« shots, shots, shots β«), great eats and exercise all made their way into my life last week. Side note: I know I’m Irish, but Irish Whiskey is disgusting. While I certainly lived it up last week, I didn’t save time to write an actual post. I’m a bad blogger. You should scold me now; or pat me on the back for embracing life, soft pretzels, and my man.
Yep, this means another week with no actual Week In Review to speak of, and suddenly I’m ending sentences with prepositions now too. My English teacher would be so ashamed. They say the mind is the first to go or is it the last thing? ‘Eh it’s probably too late for me anyway. π
On that note, I’ve decided to share some funnies with you; literally. These are near and dear to my heart, and once you read them, you’ll understand why.

Alright enough about me and cheese; I want to hear from you.

What do you think of my new recipe index? Do you have any interest in learning how to create clickable thumbnail pictures or a photo gallery? I’d be happy to share the info I gleaned if there’s interest. Also, any ideas for a shorter name for “Granola, Energy Bars, Nuts & Other Snacks?” I’d be most appreciative.

Love the recipe index! All those yummy looking goodies in one page? I’m all ears/ all eyes/ all mouths? I would be interested in learning how to make such a pretty and neat recipe section. I really need something to work on when I am busily avoiding to working on my thesis! The only short name that comes to my mind is GEBNOS π Not helpful I know!
btw where can I join that cheese church????

Soft pretzel love! I’ve been having a hard time squeezing in blogging lately; maybe I need to call it an official hiatus so I don’t also feel bad for not finding the time in addition to, you know, not finding the time.

It might take some of the pressure off. I find as soon as I make a mental decision not to post, any stress about it is gone. Ah relief.

Come baaack, woman! It might be being ditzy and not realising before but have you changed your profile picture up top? Either way, I must say- impressive guns! And the recipe index is looking great- I like the addition of pictures…way to lure in your readers even more ;)!

I did change it a few months back. In fact, Kiss My Broccoli told me to use that picture; it was when I was training for the Tough Mudder.
Gotta go with pictures when it comes to food. π

Yeah, thanks for the feedback. It is very much appreciated. I knew I had to include pictures with the recipes. I eat with my eyes…well really my hands and sometimes a utensil, but it starts with my eyes.

Hahahahahahahah oh my god, the church of cheese. That’s my religion right there. Also frolicking is the best. JD and I do that every time our super long Christmas (Thanksgiving- New Years) break ends and we can be together again.

Cheese and frolicking should go hand in hand.

I like the recipe index and you could tell me how you did it but it’s probably a WP thing so my lil ol’ Blogger self will just stub my toe in the dirt and say ‘ya’ll go on and talk about the newest plug in or how the latest update fucked up some other plug in and I’ll just wait . . .’
I’ve linked up the end of my Grilled Cheese Month festivities, and I further capped it off by whipping up an impromptu batch of tomato soup during a rainy thunderstorm. The look of delight on my daughter’s face when she walked home for lunch and realized the menu was so worth it.
Makes my tired heart glad.

It was a special plugin. Sorry buddy; I would totally hook you up if I could.

I clicked it! Looks great! If anyone understands how time consuming redoing your recipe page is, it’s me. Legit took me a month and it still isn’t entirely done! I’ll get there…
Glad the hubs is home. I’m quite you two will enjoy each others and your copious amounts of veggies company.

I’ve come to the conclusion it’s going to take months and months. There’s so much work to be done, but it’ll be worth it in the end. π

I like the Week in Review idea! I may try to join next week!

I think you should. It’s fun to celebrate yourself and your accomplishments. Come join the party. π

I clicked! I saw! I loved! It seriously looks great, lady… and you know I’m dying to know how you did it. I keep meaning to start on mine, but ugh… that’s going to require a blogging staycation in itself, and I don’t really feel like taking one right now. Maaaaaybe some time in the future. Unless you have some super easy way of getting it done?! Please say that you do…

The idea is super easy to implement, but the leg work to switch everything over….yeah, not as much. Totally worth it though so I’ll be sharing the info soon.

Yep, he’s on quarters so he’s home for the summer, although not done with school. His fourth quarter will be a residency here in Cleveland, which means he’ll be home so we’re thrilled.
Thanks for the feedback. It is much appreciate my friend.
Good luck with your finals. I’ll be thinking of you. π

Wow the link looks amazing- And I love how we can pre pin it already! Nice one Meg! as for a name….well seeing as spuds is taken and that’s in a category of it’s own….I would say something like Nut Delights but then it could be misleading.. Big Nuts? Nutful Snacking? Balls?
Glad you didn’t write a proper week in review post. you were living.

I love the new clickable index, it’s so pretty!!! I obviously haven’t made it to blogging in a few weeks now, so who am I to judge you especially when you had much better things to be doing π
As for the category you could just call it snacks and treats or something like that, though I think the mouthful of a title is totally fitting for you.
Meghan says
I think you may be right about that recipe index title. π
Glad you like it, thanks for the thoughts and I’m happy to see you back and blogging again.
