My Happy Place

June 6, 2014 by Meghan 26 Comments

Y’all know I’m halfway across the country in Utah right now, right?

At least I think it’s on the other side of the map; geography was never my strong suit. The moral of my time traveling tale is I’m skipping my typical long-winded prose and opting for the short and sweet route today, which are two words often used to describe me, followed shortly thereafter by sarcastic and smart ass. Hey, you can’t win ’em all.

We’re going to stick with my saccharine side today and delve into the places which make me really, really, ridiculously happy. Oh and you should say that last phrase in your best Zoolander voice.

We’re also going to do it in list format because those make me really, really, ridiculously happy too. Yes, more Zoolander. Go with it; it’ll be fun.

My Happy Place(s)

  • My Kitchen, which is a good thing because it’s where I spend the majority of my time, excluding the boudoir, of course (wink, wink).

Kitchen

  • My Bed: sleep is important. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

Bed

  • The Gym, especially when I’m on a Spin Bike. Saddle Up!

Spinning Class

  • My City. Cleveland rocks, and we’ve even got the venue to prove it.

Downtown Cleveland View

  • My Family’s City, also known as my second, although no less important, home.

Live Buffalo

  • Breadsmith: Sweet glorious carbs. Oh and did I mention they have free samples?

Breadsmith 2

  • A Sun Patch. I’d could β™« while away the hours, conferring with the flower hours if I only had a…β™« oh… wait… moving on.

Sunpatch, Beet Juice and Lists

  • The Farmers Market. I could happily pick produce and manhandle fruit for hours on end.

Cleveland Winter Famers Market

  • My Garden, which is growing, daily. It’s amazing how that science stuff works, and I owe you a better picture since it’s literally doubled in size since this shot was taken.

Raised Garden Bed also known as The Farm

On that note, I need to wrap things up so I can go sit in a sun patch, meditate and perhaps make Utah a new Happy Place.

What are some places that make you really, really, ridiculously happy?

My happy places are: my bed, on the playroom couch (under a pile of blankets and children), and any decent outdoor pool, so pretty much anywhere I can lay down. I have to argue with you on one point today: not so sure that you really have a saccharine side, probably more of a turbinado sugar in the raw side…. Please post an updated picture of your garden! How exciting. And is it a coincidence that your headboard look so suitable for handcuffs? (Yes, I went there.) Can’t wait to hear about your trip, enjoy!!!

I love the mental image of you under a pile of covers and children. πŸ™‚

The head board is quite conducive to shenanigans. Bonus points to you for going there.

How can you expect children to learn to read if they can’t even fit inside the building?!?

My happiest place is in my garden or mucking out chicken coops. Or rabbit hutches. Or some form of animal shelter. I can feel the stress melting away with every weed picked and bucketful of shit carted away.

    Ahhh – metaphor.

Hope your havin’ fun in Utah!

Loving the look of that kitchen- That is so bizarre in terms of it’s proportions…and I love it! I think the breadsmith would be my happy place too. In fact, I may already claim it to be one, even though I haven’t been there…yet.

I cannot wait to take you to Breadsmith. We’ll buy a loaf of everything and gorge ourselves on carbs.

I think you should come to Ohio, especially in the summer when the weather is nice and the veggies are jumping. Did I mention I live near the metroparks. Lots of cool running trails with fabulous scenery. I also know some great vegan restaurants and my local gelato place carries vegan flavors.

You forgot about the pool. Although I guess the beach is a good substitute for the pool.

Your kichen is gorgeous! And your bed looks freaking cozy! How can you get out of it in the morning?
My happy places are: London, my couch, Starbucks, a good book store and my gym cloths (if they count as a place). I am already very much looking forward to work at Starbucks on Wednesday. Ridiculous but true πŸ™‚

I adore my kitchen. We completely gutted it and redid the whole thing when we moved into the house five years ago, so it’s pretty much my favorite.

Your couch, especially the new one, is a great happy place. And the book store: yes times twelve.

Oh I am in love with your kitchen… and still oh so jealous of your garden! I also can’t imagine why your bed would be on this list of happy places (actually I can and it has more to do with mad monkey’s than with sleep).

My happy places include my bathtub, my library, and (hopefully) my new classroom space at school! I can’t wait to hear about all your Blend shenanigans, assuming you make it all back in one piece πŸ™‚

The making it back in one piece might be tough. Le sigh.

I hope you love your new classroom space too. Big and exciting changes for you!!

I read this yesterday but didn’t comment, but thought I should come back today and ramble because I was sitting on my deck tonight with tea and a book. It was the perfect temperature for one day and I stopped reading to watch a hilarious squirrel bury a nut. In other words, I was in my happy place, or at least one of them. There’s also the gym, my couch, the market, etc. but for that minute, I was at peace. Then the neighbor kid starting bouncing his effing basketball continuously for the next 15 minutes. MOMENT RUINED.

I like hearing about your happy place, sans bouncing balls. You should have asked the squirrel to bury the neighbor kid. Oops, did I say that?

So many sexual inuendos in one place! ahaha

My happy place is probably taking a walk around one of the various lakes here (as long as the allergies are behaving) or at home in Nebraska snuggling my nephew and hanging with family. Oh and Blend was a pretty happy place for me too. πŸ™‚

β™« I will wash the dishes, while you go have a beeeeeeeeeeer! β™« Ok, sorry, just had to get that last bit out of my system…luckily I had many much more memoirs of yours to read while listening so I wasn’t forced to try to figure out why the first video to pop up on Google was scenes from Lost. Whatevs.

Anyhoodles…I love all your happy places…especially your kitchen since I’ve been in there and experienced the magic that happens within! πŸ˜€ I’d say my happy places are at the park, in the yoga studio, at the farmer’s market, and in my bed! Definitely that last one as of late since I’ve been rocking out in the sleep department lately! Bam!

That’s wonderful news, I’m so glad you’re getting your sleep on. I bet it has something to do with your happiness factor at this moment as well.

Now come sing with me. You can wash the dishes and I’ll go get a beer. πŸ˜‰
