Week in Review: #29

May 2, 2016 by Meghan 42 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

Week In Review Button Final

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

In all honesty, last week kicked me in the non-ass ass, and as much as I’d like to give you the deets on all my doings, I don’t have the mental capacity.

Of course, there were moments of lucidity where granola was made, laundry was folded, and solo trips to Nature’s Bin were had, but those things were few and far between. Instead I spent the vast majority of my time with a baby on my breast, pacing floors, or climbing stairs in an attempt to sooth an overtired infant.

Ave in Pants

(Look Ma, pants.)

Oscar and Ave

Meg Dressed and Made Up

As such, I’ll need you to carry on without me this week. I’m there in spirit though. Blows kiss.

It’s your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Any tips for soothing an overtired infant?

Fingers crossed things will get better soon.
Think of the fantastic ass you will get from climbing all the stairs ;-P

    Hang in there :-*

Hopefully I can turn my non-ass ass into a mini ass. 🙂

I literally started sweating so bad from all the stairs last night I had to shed layers of clothing. By the time the Hubby came home from the store, I was in nothing by my skivvies, my sweat and the baby.

My tips are only to carry the baby in a comfy sling and remind yourself that it really doesn’t last forever. I remember some days/nights that I literally thought would not end! And that we all go through the same thing when we have babies, it amazes me how similar people’s experiences are.

Just hope everything is going okay. Obviously this mom business is a greater commitment than any 50 hour work week. Hope you are finding some moments of solace with feet up and maybe even some sleep? Take care of mama too, not just baby <3

Ave is the cutest little bug!!! We called my baby brother ‘bug’ and ‘bubble’ when he was a newborn. Mega cuteness. Can’t wait to be able to take a floating baby class. Water babies all the way.
Last week was so rough. I started my WIR but haven’t been able to finish it. Our home is still a little challenging.. But I intend to post something.

ugh, it’s so not easy! But I swear this phase goes by quick. Congrats for putting on real clothes and makeup!! You know what worked for us? Standing by the sink with the water running. Always soothed my son, no matter what. I stood by our sinks for more minutes than I care to admit but hey, do what works.

I had two colicky kids, and when I say colicky, I don’t mean “fussed for an hour each night and spat up once in a while” I’m talking screaming and screaming and screaming and screaming for hours and hours and hours. It started at around 6pm and went until just after midnight. The worst part of it all was that I felt like they were in pain and I couldn’t help them. I’d keep nursing them, which seemed to make them quiet for 20 minutes but then I felt like it actually made it all worse after.

These are the things that helped: car rides, baby swings (crank it up HIGH!), stroller rides on bumpy sidewalks, infant slings (the ones where their tiny bodies are really smooshed up against you, almost like how they were in the womb), soothers, and if I think of anything else, I’ll let you know.

We’ve done the car rides and the stroller walks, I borrowed a swing from a friend and I ordered a sling which should arrive tomorrow. Thanks for the tips. I very much appreciate it. I’m hopeful the sling will really help; that seems to be the general consensus.

Also, you are a saint for surviving not one, but two colicky babies.

Sometimes no words are needed or few are enough to convey the business of a new mum’s life. I’ve said it before and will say it again since messaging [phone calls are too difficult to schedule with the baby’s needs still] with my sister daily gives me an idea of your life right now: you’re a rockstar. And kicking some non-ass ass. Keeping another human being alive and fed is a huge task.
Also, Ave is getting cuter by the week.
