Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
You guys I’m stuck.
Creatively, metaphorically and some days even literally when Ave has me wedged awkwardly between her and the floor. My boobs are her playground and last week the milk was flowing like it was happy hour.
Beverages aside, I have so many blog posts rattling around in my head and yet when the baby naps, my phalanges sleep too. It’s a pity but instead of forcing the issue, I’ve stepped away from the computer and did well a shitton of other things.
Let’s get listing:
I mowed the lawn…in a diagonal pattern because I’m fancy like that.
I watched a handful of movies with the Hubby. Most were a let down, although Spotlight was amazing and incredibly disturbing at the same time, especially now that I have a child. Priests and pedophilia is not a fun topic.
Since were talking about inappropriate touching, I got rubbed down for almost an hour, by someone other than the Hubby. The less scintillating version is I cashed in on a massage, and it was a nice respite from real life.
I took care of health insurance issues, which translates to lots of phone calls and time squandered away on hold, all to come to the conclusion, my Hubby’s healthcare plan is a little lacking. Boo Hiss.
I did loads of laundry, literally, including all the kitchen stuff and bedding.
I vacuumed the first and second floor, over the course of several days and really cleaned the tiny human’s room since floor lint was becoming her second breakfast.
The babe and I spent oodles of time hanging outside, soaking up the sun, and eating weeds (her, not me). I did manage to pull a few though.
We also had her one year check up with the doctor. She got four shots, and weighed in at 18 pounds 5 ounces. She’s also 29.5 inches tall now, so basically half of my size.
We had a park play date with friends, and Ave got to try out a new ride.
We ran out usual errands to Whole Foods, Breadsmith, and the playground for a quick swing.
I went clothes shopping. After trying on over thirty things, I left with three. Man oh man, do I wish they had a jumpsuit in my size because I feel like I could rock that thing.
I also ran three times, including once with Ave in the stroller.
Last but not least, I made it a point to up my cooking game, and it was oh so tasty.
On that note, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small?
meredith (The Cookie ChRUNicles) says
you know I envy your ability to maintain the blog and raise that cute baby girl! I never ever ever could have done both back in the day.

Some days it is a struggle. It also makes keeping up with BlogLovin tough but it’s nice to have something outside the child. It helps keep my sanity.

Susie @ Suzlyfe says
I can’t imagine how you juggle it all.
Ever since the blog started to have these problems, I’ve felt the need to disconnect from it–I was sitting down to write last night, and nothing would come–like I feel the need to protect myself from doing the work only to have it fail. The situation is rather disheartening–I’m almost more sad than frustrated.
Meghan says
Technology issues, especially of the blog kind, really stink and can take the wind out of your sails rather quickly. I just remarked on your post how despite them, you seemed pretty positive. Maybe you should view it as a little disconnect time and enjoy life outside the computer for a bit. It’s amazing how those boxes suck us in, myself included. Here’s to a great week and hopefully some blog solutions for you.

I know that stuck feeling oh so well. I think I could have actually added “got finally UNstuck” into my WIR this week, as this was the first week I felt able to put some of those thoughts into action and do things with my time. Almost too many things. It’ll come back at you with a rolling vengeance… as long as you give yourself this time to kinda let those philanges rest and brain muscles lay back as they seem to want to. That being said – I second meredith – you are a super woman as is and this week still proved it. You did so much! I’m doing the sexy happy dance that you got in a massage, some shopping (looks great!!), your trip to the bread smith, lots of cooking and so much time outside! That one I am most jealous of. Its still all sorts of wonky rain and cold here.

The weather has been beautiful here lately so we’ve been lucky and soaking it all in. I figure it’ll come back when I’m ready and not a moment before. I’m not sweating it in the meantime, and I’m thrilled to hear you’re officially unstuck. Go you.

I realized two dreams. I got two meet Alice Walker and I hiked in the Sandra Mountains.
Meghan says
Those are pretty awesome dreams, and I’m so glad you had a wonderful time. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Sometimes a nice break from the computer is exactly what you need! And yay for having warm enough weather to run outside. And for new recipes =) The warmer and sunnier weather always inspires me to cook a bit more, even though it makes the house really hot. Have a great week!

The sunshine, the flowers, the birds….all of the things which mean Spring really help put a pep in my step. It’s also probably why I don’t want to hibernate on a PC either.
Happy Monday and have a great week.

Two things: I love the mural on Ave’s wall and I want that cheesy toast! I know, random, but true. I’m glad you got your diagonal mow in, sweat and stress reliever in one. I think that being a mom and a writer is maybe the two hardest jobs to combine because the mom side is SO physical it wears down the mental side when you finally do get a break.

Meghan says
That’s exactly it. When the day is finally done, I am too mentally drained to type, much less think.
The mural on Ave’s wall was there when we bought the house. We just changed the name. Crazy right?!

Grandma Lala says
There is no shame in a week (or two!) away from blogging when it begins to feel forced or like a must, rather than something that you can’t wait to get to doing!
Remember, “absence makes the heart grow fonder”, especially in your case, with humor; naughty and nice, yum recipes, and truths that all ages can identify with. And, with adorable Ave having your back, no one is going anywhere, we’ll all be here patiently waiting for your return.
I’d say you’re week was smashing! You had it to yourself, not answering to the internet world, and just did your thing! And I’ll take that white shirt ya got there, love it! Also Aves Nasty one, but looking down from the heavens, my momma might get hurt feelings. Her humor was different from mine.
Meghan says
Indeed. Sometimes we just need a break, and this must be mine right now. As a result, my week really was pretty good, and I’m thrilled I got some runs in. It felt good to stretch the legs and let go of some tension.
My mom would love a onesie that said Nasty like Grandma. Ha!

Grandma Lala says
Now see? Ya got Mothers Day covered right there! Call the closest screen printer, lol! Actually, my granddaughter would love that one too! And I’d be proud for her to wear it.
Btw, running was my jam! Until I wrecked my knee learning to skateboard when I was in my 50’s and had to get a replacement. It hasn’t been the same since…boo! Walking bores me and just makes me wish I could bust out and run!
Meghan says
This is exactly why I avoid skateboards. Oh man, I hope Ave doesn’t want to skateboard. Gulp.

I feel you. I have posts I wanna write, but then the fatigue takes over. Granted I’m not chasing a tiny human, but still. I loved Spotlight, def ridiculous though. People be cray. Gimmie dat foooood.

You might not have a tiny human, but you’ve got other issues going on, so I’m sure the fatigue is justified.
Also I had a dream last week we were running together.

HI Meghan! Nice work on fitting in some runs and getting a massage and new duds. That’s a lot of self-care in one week, so props to you for that!! And hope this week is a good one for you!! 🙂

Mmm your cooking does look tasty.
I usually enjoy lawnmowing…I find it weirdly relaxing. But my husband did it this weekend because I was busy with the garden and weeding, and our front yard was probably on the verge of getting reprimanded by the HOA.
Meghan says
This is why I don’t belong to a HOA. 🙂

Heather says
A massage sounds lovely. I think at least two massages a year should be covered by health insurance for mental well-being. As it is, I think most healthcare is a tad lacking.
Your cooking game is making me hungry! After two weeks of traveling, all I can think of are salads and smoothies and good food to get back on track after too much beer and greasy food. Haha!

I think monthly massages should be a thing.
I feel ya on the traveling. It’s fun, but man do I want a home cooked meal when it’s all said and done.

Jen @ Chase the Red Grape says
Is that a banana and walnut loaf? Walnuts get me every time – such a forgotten nut!
High five for a very productive week there Meg – especially the clothes shopping, I am the worst for never buying anything.
And the blog stuff will come when it comes. Taking some time off a couple of weeks ago did wonders for me. Sometimes our priorities are ourselves and our families (and much needed rest) as it should be!

Yep, I love some walnuts in my baked goods. It gives it an extra nutritional punch.
I desperately needed pants that fit so the clothes shopping was long overdue. I tried on over 30 items only to leave with three so I can relate to your shopping ways. It worked though.

I feel you on the post ideas yet no actual desire to put these ideas into practice. I feel right now it’s hard to keep up with reading blogs and commenting on the ones I want to comment on. But when I get the chance I too just desire off screen time.I haven’t even answered my comments from last week’s post.
I think you’re doing the right thing. And I fully believe that there is a time for everything in life and this time right now might just not be for blogging. I bet in a year from now we will both be pumping out the recipes like there is no tomorrow 😉 Or maybe in a year from now we will eat all the European cheese together. I’d perfer the latter tbh 🙂

That’s exactly it. I’m so behind on the blog stuff and when I do get a chance to work on it, I’m like meh. Oh well, I’m rolling with meh.

I ordered the Nasty Like Mommy onesie in the 18 month size so she’s got some time yet. Thank goodness.
Pants that are amazing.

Oh that’s just irony. Your hubby in health care, having less than favorable healthcare. Boo indeed. I hiss at ours on a daily basis.
I started a job outside of home and luckily it’s just two mikes away. Oddly enough healthcare is a big reason I got it! Like I mentioned my hubbys is hiss worthy and new job is much better. Being an adult is such fun I say! Cackle cackle pop pop
Meghan says
I thought it looked like you started a new job. I want details. Tell me everything and let me live vicariously through you. Snap, snap, fizz, fizz. 🙂
Chelsea A says
Ooh man I can totally relate to wanting to maintain the blog, but when it comes time to do it, not wanting to write a post. I’m just rolling with it though. I feel like Instagram has really become the more popular way to connect with people (although I suck at updating it as well lol).
What is it with bad movies lately? I agree that so many are letdowns! I started The Heat last week and couldn’t even get through it.
Meghan says
I think it’s the nice weather peeking in. It makes me want to do all the things….away from the computer. Oh well, I’m rolling with it too. 🙂
Angie @ Jack + Noosa says
That bread looks amazing! I am so glad you have good enough weather to take Ave to the park. Here it has been so cold. And hubby and I watched Spotlight and after it was over we just sat there not knowing what to say to each other. It was just that eye opening and disturbing at the same time.
Meghan says
Yeah, Spotlight was kind of mind blowing, especially when they talked up the massive amount of priests involved. Wow.
I’ll send some sunshine and warmth your way.
Kaylee says
Massages are glorious. I have a session booked for right after my exams finish to unwind. Cannot. Wait.
Sorry to feel you’re hearing stuck. It’s even more frustrating (or at least for me) when you feel you’re doing all the “right” things to get yourself unstuck but still the feeling remains. This too shall pass. Don’t judge yourself too harshly. I really should take my own advice.
Meghan says
I’m ok with being stuck. I’ve learned long ago it’s better to embrace it than fight it. The unstuck will happen when it’s good and ready. 🙂
