Remember when I said I wouldn’t turn into a mommy blogger?
Turns out I’m a big ol’ liar, liar pants on fire. Clearly I’ve been hanging out with the kid too much, which is part and parcel for the whole stay at home mom gig. Since I’ve already gone down the rabbit hole, without the benefit of psychedelics, I’m taking things a step further today and letting the tiny dictator tell you what’s currently going on in her life.
Take it away Ave.
Current Book: While I rather enjoying reading at least a dozen books daily, “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” is high up there on my priority list this week. My favorite part is when people sing it to me, so I can chime in with my wrow, wrow, wrow. Dad says I’m a rock star.
Current Obsession: cherries. In anticipation of my college years, I’m working on my double fisting skills now, although grandpa says I can drink beer with him in seventeen years.
Current Triumphs: I march to the beat of my own drum. Speaking of which, the trash can in the kitchen makes a wonderfully loud clanging sound when I pound on it. Same goes for the doors, the chairs, the floor, and the cabinets. I like making music.
Current Drink: aside from boobie milk, I’m digging mom’s beet juice smoothies.
(“I taste bold, beety flavors with earth tones and hints of zesty lemon. A pleasure on my palette.”)
Current Thankfulness: puppy dogs. Next to kitty cats, they’re my favorite and mom takes me to visit the neighbor pooches almost every day. We’re buddies.
Current Bane of Existence: getting teeth is a real son of an itch. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, also known as that boy who tried to hug me, so I strong armed him, much to mom’s chagrin. Then I burst into tears to let everyone know I meant business.
Current Needs: more Baby Einstein. The big people only let me watch it on special occasions, such as I’m crying inconsolably because my teeth hurt or when they need to file my nails. If I had my druthers though, I’d watch it all day, every day.
Current Food: I’m a huge fan of mom’s pesto, and I prefer to eat it by the spoonful.
Current Confession: I pick my nose and then stick my finger in my mouth.
Current Excitement: I have family coming into town next week, including a cousin I’ve never met. Mom told me I have to share my toys and my snacks, although I’m not too thrilled about the latter.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: tricking grandma and grandpa into giving me all the food and letting me play with my water glass at the table, which is a big no no at home.
Current Mood: happy. It’s summertime, I’ve got a roof over my head, free food, and I don’t have to work…yet, although mom says my days are numbered.
Your turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current book? Current obsession? Current confession?
Welcome to the mommy blogger rabbit hole. I’ll hang with you and we’ll be the cool moms. Ditto on the Baby Einstein obsession in our house. Wish I could get them to eat pesto. They eat boogers. Why not pesto?

Pesto is so much tastier than boogers. I figure she’s going to reject my food soon enough, so I’m throwing everything at her now.

Haha! Such is this chapter of life. Ave’s got good taste in food! I just about died when my kids actually ate meatloaf and mashed potatoes the other night and they now eat sandwich wraps with GREENS. I could do a happy dance! They’re eating real food!!! 😀

She’s not quite on the spinach train yet, although I sneak them in her smoothies and popsicles.

I can’t believe you eat pesto! Callum would probably eat a lot healthier if I was a good cook like your mom. Good job for straight-arming that boy that tried to hug you. A kid at the playground asked Callum if he wanted to play tag, which Callum had never heard of, and then proceeded to “tag” him and run away but Callum just felt like the kid had merely hit him and took off laughing. Don’t ever let kids play tag with you.

Thanks for the advice on tag. I’ll be wary and ready for when the time comes.

Between the singing and drumming, I’d say you’re headed for the rock star life, my dear. Hope Mom and Dad have a garage all ready for you. Also very glad to see you’ve got the right attitude when it comes to boys and hugging. Cooties, Ave. They are all cooties.

Are cooties like bugs? Because I like those and point them out and touch them every chance I get. 🙂

precious!! i need to make real pesto – the pesto that lulu has tried and loved was store bought and i’m boiling with guilt inside and sadness that i haven’t made the good stuff. she is loving food lately though, which is making me dance with joy. egg muffins have been a victory and also my meatballs and pancakes.
she has been loving her blocks and her favorite thing to do is putting stuff onto stuff or into stuff. omg she can spend 10-20 minutes just picking up rocks and putting them on a chair. whatever, i say hallelujah and cheers to activities!
my other current obsession, and i have many, are the stride rite shoes for toddlers. my mom made me and my brother wear them, and now lulu is walking around in them. i love them. what are your favorite shoes, miss Ave?
I happen to love store bought pesto so I think Lulu is getting it pretty good.
The pulling stuff out and putting stuff in is soooo funny. Ave has been doing it too and I just sit back and watch and wonder what they heck is going through their minds. She spent minutes moving a string on and off her leg, over and over again earlier this week and I marveled.
We have some stride rite sneakers I love, except their way too big for her. I had to buy her 3 – 6 month shoes yesterday in order to get a pair that fits. She has tiny feet like her momma I guess.

Pesto, cherries, boogers… all delicacies! HAHAHA!
Evie was reading this post with me. She may kidnap Ave. Fair warning. I prefer after the whole teething thing is over though. In the mean time, tell her to keep the boys in check.

The Hubby was thrilled with her strong arming that boy. Tell Evie she can borrow Ave….for a day.

I smiled through this whole post! So cute, creative and fun. Yes your doing mommy posts but not the boring kind. You make it cool! Even a young dude, who is not a parent or wants to be any time soon because a little sister is enough, like myself enjoys them! I am kind of shocked she likes pesto? Cool mom means cool baby I guess. Rock on little human

I eat a lot of garlic so I’m guessing she picked up on that in the womb and in my milk. There’s some science to say the kids pick up on those flavors and enjoy them as a result. Then again, it could be because she watched me make it. That alone is pretty fascinating for the babes.

Girrrll I need to share that pesto with you. I’ll get my own spoon though, no offense. But your booger mouth means no sharing spoons. It’s OK though, I pick my nose too.
She’d be happy to share her pesto, mainly because we have tons of it. 🙂

Hey Ave, don’t let the parental influences bother you about the nose picking slash mouth thing. I’ve seen plenty of adults do that in neighboring cars at red lights. Yeah, it’s pretty gross if you’re a grownup, but babies get a pass. We know you explore everything by taste! Just don’t tell your mom it tastes like pesto.
Teething indeed does suck! I remember when my wisdom teeth decided to grown in at the ripe old age of 30. They didn’t make any smarter so I had the suckers yanked. Dug out! Don’t worry, your pretty little pearly whites are all keepers! I too love a beet and lemon smoothie with a sprig of mint!
Ooh, I like the idea of adding a sprig of mint. Genius!!

I still don’t consider you a mommy blogger. Even though Ave makes an appearance here and there. But considering how super cute she is and that I basically live for your Instagram stories who wouldn’t love that! But there is still so much Meg in all your posts that the label ‘mommy blogger’ seems just too tight too be fitting.
This being said tell Ave that cherry season starts early June and that we have a farm here where you can pick your own and are allowed to eat as many as you want for free while you’re there 🙂

And this comment is why I love you. Well part of the reason, the other is your witty personality coupled with a grumpy cow, a side of coffee and a healthy dose of realism.
Mmm pick your own cherries.

Ahhhhh – the mommy blogger.
You have gone to the dark side, I see. Mommy-blogger you are, hmmmmm? (*Ears twitching*)
I say voices are voices – I’m down with whatever voice you want to use. Ave’s, kermit the frog, healthy eater/runner. Labels are for dicks. Let’s cast our own net as broadly as possible, shall we?
Because we like you. And we will sprinkle you with love bombs. (Which may, at times, resemble your granola recipes, which for reals are the best I’ve ever made.)
By the by – there is this book called 10 Black Dots by Donald Crews that my daughter LOVED. She loved the pictures as a baby, small words as a preschooler and now at 7 she hauls it out to read to her dollies to teach them the words. I’m a book nerd. We can’t go wrong with all the books. Also anything by Margaret Wise Brown. Such as the Big Red Barn. Or Runaway Bunny. The adult in me drools over anything by Peter Brown. Especially the Chowder books. And as she gets older you will meet Fancy Nancy and you will be utterly captivated. I’ll shut up now.

Aw shucks, I’m so glad you dig the granola. Ave is a big fan too.
I like a big, broad net. Who needs to be confined by labels.
Fancy Nancy? Is she anything like Nancy Drew? I need to get on this.

Haha I love checking in on what’s happening in Ave’s world! She is suck a cool chick with such good taste.
Currents with me? Trying to get back to some sort of normality and routine but it just ain’t happening. If only my sleep could get back on track I think that would make a world of difference!!
