Week in Review: (#112)

December 11, 2017 by Meghan 32 Comments

Get you pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Let’s get listing:

Ave and I kicked the week off with a road trip to Buffalo, so we’d be out of the way while her bathroom gets renovated. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m thrilled with the results so far. I’ll share the final product when it’s done. In the meantime, here’s a picture of a Buffalo sign. How thrilling.

We spent the majority of last week getting spoiled rotten by my father and step mother. They stocked the house with all of my favorites: white pizza, potato chips and dip, ice cream, and beans and green because balance.

In returned, I shared my beer.

(Thank you Wild Ohio for the generous donation to my booze fund.)

Ave also tried her first ever waffle. She’s a fan of anything that gets covered in syrup. I can relate.

We spent the majority of one day with Ave’s cousins. It was fun and absolutely exhausting to be surrounded by three children under four years old. I have no idea how parents of multiples do it. I was ready for bed at one o’clock…in the afternoon. I was ready for wine by noon.

We had breakfast out one day with my brother and mother, and then we hung out for a few hours afterward. Ave rekindled her friendship with my brother’s dog, Hagrid who is nearly four times her size now.

(This is last Christmas. I wasn’t able to get a picture this time since neither one of them would sit still longer than 2.6 seconds. Typical.)

On Friday, we drove home and got reacquainted with Oscar. We didn’t tell him about Hagrid. Some things are best left unsaid.

We spent Saturday morning having breakfast with Santa. Ave preferred bacon to the big guy; bacon is pretty impressive.

We hit up the local library on Saturday afternoon for general shenanigans and managed to catch a drop in story time, which involved arts and crafts. Ave made her own cloud, complete with glue, cotton balls, and not one, not two, but four googly eyes. It’s a masterpiece (cough, cough).

On Sunday, we ran errands. We stopped by our favorite haunt, Breadsmith, and checked out the newest grocery store in the area, Constantino’s. We also did a little online shopping and basic adulting nonsense: laundry and vacuuming. We finished our day with a play date for the kiddos and a wine date for the mothers. Hashtag winning.

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Santa’s face is hilarious…I think he’s ready for New Year’s. Also, as a parent of multiples, you are dead right: ready for bed by 1. This is why I am cultivating nap time for as long as they will let me (high school???). PS. Hagrid is the best name for a dog and that one is adorable…he reminds me of the dog from Turner and Hooch.

I want nap time never to end. It’s really more for me than it is for her. Actually she still needs the sleep and I need the rest so we both win with nap time. 🙂

Last year I fully expected her to cry on Santa’s lap and she was fine. This year, I thought she’d be OK and clearly she wasn’t. Ha. Goes to show you can never predict the tiny human’s behavior.

Oh Ave!! My heart!! That Santa picture is one for the books.

If only she could have brought Hagrid with her to keep her safe. I’ll never get over that dog. He is incredible.

To Moms I think all crafts are masterpieces. I know I have a few….less than stellar… combinations of glue and styrofoam balls that somehow made it onto the christmas tree…..

Hagrid might have terrified Santa, but then they would have realized he’s a giant, walking, drooling, love bug.

Ave’s “cloud” is hanging proudly on the Christmas tree right now. Ha!!

So many Santa’s in the wrong line of work! No wonder Ave just wasn’t in to him! He didn’t even try! Though I must say, no matter how they tried, none of my babies enjoyed Santa’s lap as 1 and 2 year olds. At three, when they knew he was bringing them gifts, different story. They couldn’t wait! We stood in line so long with our first that she got on Santa’s lap for her time at 14 months, and soaked his knee! He smiled and anyway and was very sweet, saying they both needed a change. I was horribly embarrassed.

I want the puppy Hagrid, but not the grown up, drooling, giant, toe busting, wind breaking, full sized Hagrid!

It sounds like a great week in Buffalo! I love a good spoiling too and wish I weren’t always the spoiler! It’s hard being the Mom and Grandma sometimes! But fun too!

I am decking the halls and baking all of the goodies that I cannot even enjoy, and stashing themin the freezer for Santa.

You are a Saint. In fact, almost all grandmother’s are saints. Seriously, I am forever grateful for and indebted to Ave’s grandparents.

I’ll be happy to take those goodies off your hands. 😉

Glorious Santa face!! Yes bacon is better than Santa agreed. And waffles yeah. Those are my jam. Lulu is not as obsessed with waffles as her mom but there’s still time and hope. She’s and egg queen by far. And rice. And mushrooms!

Has she tried syrup yet? I’m pretty sure it’s the only reason Ave likes pancakes and waffles. 🙂

Oh I love beans and greens. In fact, I might choose them over anything else on your favorites list…although that could just be the recent excess of restaurant meals talking. And I’m with Ave, bacon is better than Santa.

The bathroom is looking fab so far! You must be so pleased with the progress. I bet it was lovely to have that break away, we used to travel during December when we were back home (one weekend would be christmas number one with David’s parents and then another weekend would be Christmas number two with my parents) and I just loved it. So lovely to see all the festivities in another city or town outwith your own.
    I wish I could have a Santa breakfast… He knows good bacon…

Hopefully you can Skype with your family on Christmas. That’s what we do with the Hubby’s family since his brothers are all out of town.

We’re loving the bathroom so far, although I’m ready for it to be done.

I prefer bacon to old men too! And waffles. Tell Ave I have her back. 😉

Most of my playdates involve wine. No children though… unless you count Evie. Which actually may count…
