Get you pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Last week passed in a flurry of snot, a teething toddler and vomit, although not necessarily in that order. Everyone around me, the Hubby, my in-laws and Ave, got struck with the plague, and I got covered in a pool of puke; literally. Kids are fun.
So if you should happen to see a rapidly vanishing, yet outstretched arm in a pool of quicksand also known as regurgitated berries, that’s me. If you could be so kind as to toss me a flotation device or a bottle of wine, I’d be so appreciative.
(Thank you Juli for my new favorite coffee mug. Your timing is impeccable.)
Let’s get listing:
Last week, I survived.
I took care of the Hubby, when I wasn’t managing the wee babe.
I fed myself and a teething toddler multiple times a day. Sometimes this included Chipotle. By the way, their queso is nothing to write home about. I would not buy it again.
I soothed Ave in the middle of the night, almost every night.
As such, I napped when she napped during the day. Hashtag necessary.
I did countless loads of laundry, including all the bedding, bathroom towels and kitchen apparel. Germs are bad, and I did everything I could to avoid the plague like…well the plague.
We hung out with Ave’s bestie a lot, who is also working on some teeth too. They’re a joy to be around right now (cough, cough). They even had their first physical altercation, which thankfully was short and involved a make up kiss (their idea, not ours).
Last week wasn’t all sickness and sadness though.
One night, I helped prepare and serve a vegan meal at the Ronald McDonald house, along with Chef Vickie at Urban Sweetness and Tricia, the blogger behind PTAOM. It was awesome to be a part of this, and I can’t wait to do it again.
The highlight of my week though was kicking off a new tradition with Ave: making Christmas cookies with my family. They came to town for a quick overnight trip so we could get our sugar fix on. We are a family of sweet teeth. Considering Ave ate sprinkles off the floor with her tongue, she is no exception.
(Our Christmas cookies are a little Salvador Dali, with a touch of Picasso and a hint of Georges Seurat; obviously.)
Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. What are your holiday traditions?

I saw your cookie-making on IG yesterday! You all look like pros.
As for the sickness…that was us last week except it alllll came out the other end (sorry TMI). I did five loads of laundry and threw away two sets of pajamas and two sets of sheet of Charlie’s that were beyond salvageable.
I hope you are on the other side now. Crackers and applesauce all around.

I think we’re on the other side of it now, although we did go through three sets of PJ’s and bedding all in one night. Thankfully it was salvageable. Poor Charlie. I hope he’s on the other side of it too.

The cookies are works of art! And you are creating such wonderful memories for Ave.
The RONALD McDonald House is an incredible organization. We stayed in Denver for Three weeks while my daughter finished up her partial-hospitalization. Beautiful, loving volunteers. Thank you for bringing in a meal. It means so much to those who are there- away from their homes and families- to have a home made meal brought it.
Meghan says
Oh yes, it was fantastic to be able to give to others a bit. I would love to do this regularly and involve Ave when she gets a little older and can help.

About the sickness. I dint need to go on like usual, you know I know. You poor thing! At least this time you yourself escaped.
I lik Chipotle if we must have fast food. But, when seeing on the television that canned looking queso (I know their policies) it does look like the canned stuff.
I was a bit struck by the closer-up photo of sweet (finger-licking -good sweet!) Ave, and the amount of hair she suddenly seems to have uptop! It is finally happening! My oldest, our only daughter was a slow grower in the hair department. And remains scanty until the third grade. She had pencil thin ponytails, and forget two! The littlest of holders simply slid off. But in the third grade, it all changed and it came in heavy and thick and still is!
I loved those early cookie baking days days with my toddlers and kids. Then they grew up and created their own special traditions that we as grandparents are privileged to be a part of.
Ave’s Christmas decorated cookies truly are works of art, because they are her very first! I think it is wonderful that in the Christmas spirit your family traveled to be apart of it! So many firsts this year that she is going to be delighted and amazed with!
I have nothing that compares to that! Merry Christmas!
Meghan says
Yes, her hair is finally coming in. It’s still pretty light but she’s getting enough that you can really see it now.
I am so grateful my family came up for a quick trip to make cookies with us. I’m hoping we can continue the tradition each year.

Your family is like our family; we LOVE Christmas cookies and Christmas goodies; we’re hoping to have a Christmas baking day this week and go Christmas caroling.
I’m so sorry you all weren’t feeling well this week; it sounds like you’re still well though?
And I LOVE Chipotle, but I’ve never tried their queso; I guess per your recommendation I won’t be trying it.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
I’m so thankful for Jesus and that He came to save me from my sin; it’s such a wondrous thing to celebrate.

Yep, so far I have escaped the wrath of the plague.
I think going Christmas caroling sounds like a wonderful idea. It’s been years since I’ve seen carolers.

You survived – PROPS to you!!
Ah cookie making. Is there a more relaxing, soul filling activity at this time of year? Especially when done with friends or family? No…. I say no. So nice to have started this tradition with Ave, and I hope it continues each and every year.
Hope those cookies have been the medication you’ve all needed, and that you are all now on the mend. I guess better to get it out this week than all be sick on Christmas, eh? Have a great week, Meg!!

Ugh, plague weeks are miserable. And teething on top of that? Sending you virtual wine…or maybe Irish coffee is more appropriate at this time of day. At least there was cookie making to top of the week – hope that was the medicine everyone needed.

Look at all those coooookies!! What a fun tradition, and I love that the family was able to come to you guys! I’m always glad to hear when you’ve survived a week, not that I ever have my doubts. My week was good, in fact my entire month has been good because I have all of December off of school. It’s been quite nice, and a preview for what’s to come after MY FINAL SEMESTER. That is all. Love you.

THis post filled me with such joy. I love seeing Ave grow up and her hair!! So sweet and cute. And fair and who’s the fairest of them all?? Ok I can’t have a thought without a storybook line. Mom life right?
Making new traditions with our little family has been such fun. Everything is fun and new! I think watching Christmas movies altogether in bed then falling asleep has been my favorite so far. Releasing the burdens of rules and perfection has been the true gift this season and I’ve never enjoyed life or being a mom more. I guess each day I learn something new and something more to love. And sometimes I find that wine truly is a blessing.

Oh I love the traditon of baking and icing Christmas cookies. Back home in the UK we bake for Christmas but we don’t get together to ice cookies or decorate – but I think this american tradition is one to share!
Urgh it’s never fun when sickness is doing the rounds and it always seems to rear its ugly head at the same time. But I am glad that everyone is getting better now and I cross all my fingers and toes that it doesn’t hit you too.

Yikes. Hope your days are less puke-filled now. Playing doctor is not the most fun way to spend your week.
Those cookies look great! A wonderful new tradition.
Thanks for that queso heads-up btw!
