It’s high time to slip another Currently post into the mix. Instead of rambling on, as is my usual custom, I’m getting right to the point today. You’re welcome.
Current Book: I’m devouring Lindsay Cotter’s Nourishing Superfood Bowls cookbook. I feel healthier already, and I’ve only ogled the pictures and perused the recipes. I’m dying to try the mango tango glow bowl, the hippie grain bowl, the whipped ricotta and honey-glazed pear bowl and about seventy-two others.
Current Confession: I’ve been trying to scale back my coffee consumption. I’m limiting myself to two and a half cups a day, all before noon. It blows.
Current Drink: herbal tea. It’s boring, but effective.
Current Food: salads because I’m actively upping my nutritional game. Bring on the veggies….with a small side of bacon.
Current Blessing: we’ve had a few warmer weather days which gives me hope the end of winter is in sight.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: until then, I’m just going to keep buying myself flowers.
Current Triumphs: Ave’s bathroom remodel is finally done. Granted it was complete a month or two ago but I forgot to share it here, so I’m slipping it in now and pretending it’s not at all awkward.
Current Obsession: these peanut butter chocolate bites I’ve been working on. The whole family is a fan and with good reason. I’m hoping to share them on the blog in the near future.
Current Excitement: my fortieth birthday is next weekend!! Hello St. Patrick’s Day baby; it’ll be my first time really celebrating (translation: consuming copious amounts of adult fluids) since before being pregnant. The tiny human will be with staying with grandma and grandpa for the day, and I’ll be hitting up the parade and a hefty handful of watering holes.
(Celebrating my twenty-first birthday and still standing; sort of.)
Current Bane of Existence: the inevitable hangover that is sure to come with it. Thank god, Ave will be sleeping at the in-laws.
Current Needs: to stock up on coconut water, which I hear is a cure all for over consumption. I’ll be sure to report back.
Current Mood: highs and lows. At this second, I’m quite content because Ave is napping and I’m almost done with this blog post. Yesterday, I was a miserable wretch for no other reason than I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
Your turn. What’s Currently going on in your world? Current book? Current confession? Do you remember your 21st birthday? Have you tried coconut water for a hangover? When was the last time you woke up on the wrong side of the bed?

oh joy oh joy oh joy to the world!!! i’m so excited for your big 40 because i’ll be celebrating for you as well! it’s going to be the best day – it’s a saturday, it’s st. patty’s, it’s a mandatory party day, it’s your bday, and it’s a special bday!! how fun.
current mood is fragile and optimistic. i’m feeling my sinuses become inflamed and willing them not to get infected, and feeling very optimistic. current bane of existence: partner travel. the man of the house will be leaving us for a few days starting this saturday and i’m not looking forward to it, but luckily i have good help! even if i have to pay for it, it’s still damn amazing and in some ways better than family. i’ll leave it at that. current confession: i really don’t know what i’m doing half the time, and the other half i feel like a woman on a mission. and i dislike my MIL due to her political stance. i hate that it bothers me but it does and i just can’t stand her or how i feel about it. i guess i’ll have to meditate on forgiveness 🙂
Meghan says
Oh no! Fighting an infection and having your partner in crime gone while you do it! Ouch, the struggle is real.
I’m not sure I could accept your MIL’s politics either. Our current political climate is so divisive right now and with good reason. If you’re not for equality for all, then your against it. It’s super tough. I get it. Stay strong mama.

Your confession made me giggle, what I would give to consume even half a cup of coffee. HA. AHH a new decade is coming! I’m excited for your adventures in boozeland, live it up mama, live IT up! Those PB bites…oh drool.

I broke down and snuck in an extra cup of coffee today. I couldn’t help it; the struggle is real.

Ave’s bathroom is gorgeous! Love the tiling. Currently baking: easter-themed desserts. I get way too excited about themed baking and as soon as valentine’s day was over I moved on over to easter!! Eggs! Bunnies! Cadbury creme egg knockoffs – swoon. I need some salads like your avocado bacon salad to counteract…
Meghan says
I’ll pass you a salad in return for some of those Easter candy knockoffs. 🙂

I am super glad that you will be celebrating your fortieth with a bang! I have never lived anywhere that celebrates St Paddy’s Day but boy do they seem to go big in the States so it seems an ideal combo for your birthday.
I swear by coconut water for a hangover, it really does work – hydration and electrolytes… Everything you need to recover. Back home in scotland we have this soft drink called Irn Bru… It’s kind of an institution and scotland is one of the very few places that has a drink that outsells coca cola and Pepsi! It’s everyones go to drink for a hangover, from my mums generation right through to mine. Who knows what the flavour actually is… No one can put their finger on it, oh and it’s bright orange. Pure class!

I’m intending to celebrate on the big day AND I’m meeting up with Laura and Lucie in Atlanta for another round of celebrations in a couple of months. Maybe I should make it my birthday YEAR. Ha.
Adding coconut water to the grocery list right now.

Love the bathroom – particularly the color of the wall tiles! I have two friends who were born on St Pat’s day and one is also turning 40! Hope you have an amazing day 🙂

I love how the bathroom turned out. The tiles and wall color contrast one another beautifully, in my not so humble opinion.

THAT…. PICTURE!! Okay. Please start sharing more. You have a whole world behind you I’d like to learn more about. Or maybe I’ll just see some of it when you showcase some of your 40th birthday shenanigans. Now this, this I am excited for. Do it up mama. Do it up however you please. I’ll send you some gatorade and coconut water and an IV.
I do hope the warmer weather stays or continues on for you (and for us all). It is absolutely a lot harder to stay sane and happy – for both mother and child – with a toddler when it is crud outside. We are all such better people when we get to romp around on the grass and roll in the sand and poop in the woods.
And now I’m off to have another coffee. Because I’m not quite at your level of confession yet.

Ooh an IV is a genius idea. I wonder if I can get a health care professional to come to the house. 🙂
It’s snowing again. UGH! That’s also why I slipped in an extra cup of coffee today. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I cannot wait to hear about the birthday shenanigans. I’m sure it will be epic, as all 40th birthdays should be.
Ave’s bathroom turned out really well! I love the colors. It’s way prettier than my bathroom – HA! She’s a lucky tiny human.
Meghan says
She is a lucky tiny human and her bathroom is your bathroom when you stay here so it’s a win all around.

Until spring really is there buy all the flowers!!! I am currently spending so much money on flowers, it’s insane. I even specifically asked for gift cards for my birthday to feed my addiction 😛
Ave’s bathroom turned out so pretty! I love the tiles and the colors. It’s definitely nicer than mine!
Your birthday plans sound awesome! I have no recollection of my 21st birthday but as here the 18th is the important one it was probably not that rememberable. I have heard of and tried coconut water as a hangover cure but it made me nauseous. I always need something salty ;-P Eggs and bacon!

I think Ave’s bathroom might even be nicer than mine. I certainly like the color scheme better in hers, although we have a little more room in ours.
Something salty and greasy has always been my hangover cure. I’ll try the coconut water too, but I suspect I’ll still need that grease. 🙂

Those PB chocolate bites look AMMMAZEEEEBALLSSS…. And I love that you buy yourself flowers; that’s always fun.
Meghan says
I highly recommend buying yourself flowers.

Have so much fun celebrating your birthday! There’s a huge St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Butte – I’ve heard we should check it out, but it’s always been on the same weekend we celebrate our anniversary.
I am super jealous of Ave’s bathroom. Maybe it will motivate me to paint ours, which has been that horrid off-white apartment wall color since we moved in.
Meghan says
Yeah, I am too. I like the color scheme in her bathroom better than my own. 🙂
