Week in Review: The Play Date to the Umpteenth Power Edition (#145)

August 13, 2018 by Meghan 18 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Last week was plethora of play dates. Of course we got up to our usual shenanigans and I cleaned the kitchen floor about a thousand times, directly below where Ave sits for some strange reason. Hmm. The bulk of our time though was spent having hilarity and hijinks with friends. You don’t have to take my word for it though; I’ve got photographic proof, despite the tiny human denying said events occurred, usually when she’s wearing her Captain Cranky pants. See, yet another reason pants should be banned.

In an event, let’s get listing:

We had the reconnect with long lost friends play date.

(July 2016)

(“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” August 2018)

We had the vehicle themed, sharing is caring, play date. Cool friends with different toys are always a huge hit.

We had the run around like hellions in the park play date. Also of note, Ave got a “Libraries Rock” tattoo at this same event.

We had the hit up the zoo, eat junk food, and feed the giraffe play date. This guy likes romaine lettuce, long walks in the park and is quite adept at using his purple tongue.

Not to be outdone, we went to Buffalo and had the summer fun cousins in the pool play date.

(It’s damn near impossible to get three kids to smile and look at the camera at the same time.)

Last but certainly not least, we had the family dinner play date.

Now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

After a week like that, I assume that THIS week consists of resting and recuperating?

There will be some recuperating (when Ave is hanging at the in-laws) but the rest of the week is more play dates. Ahhhh, the life of a stay at home mom. 🙂

Whew! You and Ave are serious about your play dates. Looks like fun, but exhausting to this grandma! 🙂 I like the run around like hellions type of play date. This usually results in naps, or at least early bedtimes (for me – not necessarily the kids).

It is fun and exhausting and also the only way to survive as a stay at home mom in my opinion. At least when we have play dates, I’m no longer the sole source of entertainment.

Starting the tattoos young! Wild girl she is. I wonder if she’ll still agree that libraries rock when she’s 80…

Man, cool friends with different toys were the best. I used to love going to my one friend’s house for play dates when I was little. He had Power Rangers costumes, so we’d dress up and play Ninja. So cool.

Is Mama’s play date this week going to involve couch and sleep and mindless TV? I hope so.

I hope she still likes libraries at 80, although this week she has a new tattoo, a dolphin this time.

When Ave is with my in-laws, my play dates always involve couch and mindless TV with a side of getting stuff done, usually between shows. 🙂

So much fun! Never too many play dates. This is why I love Facebook memories. I get to see how much the human has grown it’s incredible to watch them grow up. Every day it’s like wow. We did that. Mic drop. Love you!!!

Time Hop is my favorite because you can see the growth so much. It’s amazing how much they change and how quickly.

Whew! That’s a lot of play dates. And that giraffe’s head is HUGE! I don’t think I’ve ever been close enough to one to realize that their heads are like the size of a child.

The giraffes are ginormous and Ave loved feeding them, although her buddy was a little more skittish and threw the lettuce at the giraffe instead. 🙂

Love the “ride or cry” shirt. lol Last night we took Squish to Folklorama – this big multicultural summer festival where there are pavilions all over the city. We went to the Caribbean pavilion and omg the roti and Jamaican patties – so much good food. There was a lot of great music and dancing and at the end they had a limbo guy who limboed (?) under a bar lower than he knees that he lit on fire (the bar not his knees). My normally very talkative toddler said about 10 words the whole night – her eyes were so wide with all the dancing and music and the crowds. We actually hardly ever do crowds so this was new for her!

It sounds like a huge success and a wonderful time for all of you. Hopefully Squish slept really well after that.

Ok a libraries rock tattoo? That has to be the best ever!
Ave has the best social life, and I’m sure as a result you are having a pretty damn good time too! And to top it all off its wonderful to see you all having a good dose of family time.
Ps giraffes are my spirit animal. It’s a tall thing…

      Giraffes are amazing.

We got the tattoo at the end of summer library party for the summer reading program which Ave was a part of. I still need to get her free frozen yogurt but some how we always end up at the ice cream shop. 🙂
