Thinking Out Loud

December 19, 2013 by Meghan 23 Comments

Today we’re going to Think Out Loud.

Thinking-Out-Loud

I know you’re wondering, “well how is that different from any other day around here?” It’s not, but I do get to join a link up party for my girl Amanda, also know as Blogging Gold, or if you want to get all technical about it Running With Spoons.  Since I like pretty much all parties, well except the ones which end in a prayer to the porcelain god (it’s been a long time since that happened; see I am growing up) or the ones that involve twelve screaming kids aged four or less wanting to eat all the sugar now (my grown up card just got revoked). I like link up parties, especially ones where I get to blather on about nothing and share my random thoughts. It’s perfect for me; plays to my strengths so to speak and it might just involve some bullet points.

I say let’s get listing (cracks knuckles, dusts off shoulder):

  • Despite my cockiness from a paragraph before, I am working much too much right now. I’m basically working my tookus off, which is unfortunate because I don’t have much of an ass to begin with. I’m putting in solid eight, ten and sometimes twelve-hour days, which is par for the course this time of year, but it feels like I have the weight of the world (or at least my work world) on my shoulders. That’s a hell of a lot of pressure.
  • An unfortunate side effect of working too hard is you end your day with mush for brains. It’s kinda like oats in a jar, but worse. I had grand plans to join the What I Ate Wednesday party yesterday and I even took pictures of all my Saturday eats, but by the time I got home from work on Tuesday night, I couldn’t write. Not a single sentence.

WIAW Collage

  • When everything is manic and nutso (more technical terms) at the office, my mind has a mantra which airs on repeat: gym, gym, go to the gym, gym, gym, go to the gym. My lunchtime workouts are my salvation. It’s one of the main reasons I’m able to keep what little sanity I have left. Scratch that, I did some fitness room twerking yesterday, so I’m pretty sure my sanity is gone. I’m also too old to twerk so that was a one and done. Kitchen dance parties, on the other hand, are my jam.

Meg Twerking

  • Speaking of kitchen dance parties, I’ve been listening to this song on repeat. I swear I’ve shared this little ditty on the blog before, but I’ve searched high and low to no avail. I try to start my day with this, along with my morning cup of coffee.

  • When I’m not twerking or shaking my groove thang (yeah, yeah), I’ve been listening to Jillian Michaels podcasts like they’re going out of style. Hell for all I know, they already are, but I find them oddly relaxing and reassuring. I might have even learned a thing or two. Gasp; there I go growing up again.
  • Last but certainly not least, I’m switching up the Week In Review link up party on Monday morning. I’m going for a Holiday Edition, where I list out all the happy things involved with getting ready for the holidays (making a list, checking it twice), including some of my favorite traditions. Balls are involved. You should come. Bring a blog post and a friend.

Week In Review Button Side Bar

That about sums about what’s happening in my little bitty mush mind right now: work, gym, and dancing balls. Good times happening in my head; good times.

What are some of the thoughts floating through your head? Personally, I think you must be exhausted because you’ve been running through my mind all day. Yep, my sanity is gone. Do you listen to any podcasts? If so, which ones?

😆 Oh you’re wonderful. I may have just spent way too long giggling at that over-the-shoulder twerking pic. So good. Also, why is my computer trying to autocorrect twerking to tweaking. Get with the times, Apple.

It’s a shame you missed WIAW this week because your eats look GOOD. That oozy gooey (what I’m assuming is) cheese sandwich is calling my name, and I just had breakfast. Way to pressure me into what I’ll be making for lunch 😛

Your autocorrect keeps changing it because twerking shouldn’t be a thing, much less one a woman of my age does.
Yep, it was definitely a grilled cheese. Easy and delicious.

Thanks for hosting the link up. I think it’s a great idea.

Your twerking skills are impressive. If you’re lucky I’ll post the video I took of myself twerking in the gym…I have no shame.

Why is it that it took me reading Amanda’s comment to scroll back up to your gym picture and realize that your face wasn’t the only thing in sight? Haha.

Good idea with the holiday edition of WIR. If I forget to come, you are free to bang down my door. I’m going to try my hardest to not forget.

And geez, you do sound busy! I’ve been pretty busy too with final exams, but nothing like the hours you’ve been pulling. Still, forgive me if I’ve missed any of your posts this week. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

It was my sneaky over the shoulder twerk which I deliberately didn’t point out.

No worries m’dear. I hope your exams are done and you are now enjoying your winter breaking. The Hubby is finally home so he’ll be a big help while I continue to work crazy hours. Sigh.

I’ve heard of that one. I’ll have to check it out. The Hubby listens to Stuff You Should Know podcasts all the time. You might like some of those.

My poor accounting twerker…I sympathise with you. I even have several emails from my mate at KMPG from the office…at 10pm lol! Hope it all settles down for you soon, or at least the advent calendar is providing some happiness.

You are NEVER too old to twerk. And that grilled cheese…damn I’m good with my blogger association post part 2.

Off topic, but is weird that I’m a guy and I’m jealous of those guns your showing in your side bar picture? I’m being dead serious here.

Your poor Accountant is right. I’m exhausted, but thankfully the Hubby is now home for the next two weeks so he’ll take care of me. Right now, he’s actually cleaning the house so I don’t need to worry about it. Now that’s an impressive man. Here’s a tip for you Arman: men who help clean get lucky more often, if you know what I mean, and I know you do.

I didn’t think my arms really looked all the beefcakey in that picture, but everyone who’s commented has said something so I guess I should just say Thank You. I appreciate it. I can only attribute it to lots of push ups and almost pull ups when I was training for the Tough Mudder.

BOO on the crazy hours! Hubby better spoil you rotten when he gets a break from school. I love that you are still hitting the gym, and rocking the selfies while there (I like to think I’m “with it” but you will not catch me twerking).

Can’t wait to see your holiday in review 🙂

Busting out a little Gloria. Very nice. And now I have that song stuck in my head. I will teach you how to dance, because even though I may be white, I got skills.

You need to get on the Podcast train. I actually listened to one about sleep which made me think of you.

Love the fitness room twerk. TWERK IT OUT, GIRL!! I went through a huge Jillian Michaels podcasts phase — I used to watch them while walking to school every day. Then I switched to a Dane Cook Pandora phase. A lot less informative, but a hell of a lot more hilarious.

Why thank you. I felt ridiculously foolish doing it, but then again I’m usually up to some type of shenanigans.

I’ll have to check out Dane Cook. Thanks for the tip.

OMG!!! YES! All to dance parties, Jillian and working too much. I know the feeling! I’m going to work really hard to not work too hard this next month. I’ve been so drained from it, I haven’t been able to focus on the things that matter. Things like kitchen dance parties and podcasts and YOU (and everyone else whose blogs I love). I miss you.

PS. I TOTALLY listen to podcasts!! Or try to. Mainly when I’m at the gym (*Can you believe I bought a gym membership?!!*). Try Spilled Milk or Let’s Get Real. Hilarious and also super awesome real food stuff.

PPS. I’m gonna start podcasting next month!!! I’d love to do one together one day!! xoxoxo!

    PPPS. Happy New Years, friend.

Oh my gosh, doing a podcast together could be crazy fun! Count me in, and I will happily check out Spilled Milk and Let’s Get Real. If it involves food, I’m in.
I hope things settle down for you soon my friend and you can get back to kitchen dance parties. That’s where it’s really at.
