I so badly wanted to do a light and fluffy themed holiday post today.
Somebody had other plans for me, or perhaps the sheer amount of hours coupled with my work stress caught up with me, because I spent this entire weekend on a bed or a couch shivering out a 101 degree fever. In fact, as I sit here typing, I’m slightly delirious, and yes very much still feverish, so I guess I haven’t actually shivered it out. Rats. It started off with a simple throat tickle Saturday morning and then amassed into something else entirely. I had a brief moment of clarity on Sunday afternoon, but it was false since it didn’t last. No matter, I promised you a Holiday In Review Edition, and I plan to deliver.
Today, we’re going to recap all the lovely, joyous and sometimes cuss worthy things that go towards getting holiday ready. It doesn’t matter if you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanza, Winter Solstice, or Christmas, this is your chance to share what goes into your holiday planning and overall merriment. If it’s holiday related, this is the link up for you, and since this is likely my last post until the New Year, I’ll keep the link up open until then.
Let’s get listing:
- Cross your fingers, wrinkle your toes, blink your eyes four times and then hope for a white Christmas, if Christmas is your thing.
- Decorate the tree with as many balls as possible. This one is super important for obvious reasons.
- Make Orange Cranberry Granola for your coworkers or rather have the Hubby make Orange Cranberry Granola because you don’t have the strength or stamina. Plus infecting your entire office this time of year would be bad and might not be appreciated.
- Hang your holiday cards with care. Lament the fact you didn’t send out any of your own for the first time in ten plus years.
- Watch The Sound of Music, an old tradition starting by my mom and continued by me. Now this might be the fever talking, but I’m telling you, Julie Andrews never looked so good.
- Make scones for the neighbors, which translates to have the Hubby makes scones for the neighbors. Since he hasn’t actually done this step yet, there’s no photographic evidence to share. I find this to be unacceptable, so I’ll share the Danish Puff Pastry we gifted them last year instead.
- Last but most certainly not least, take some selfies at your Firm’s Holiday Party for the sole purpose of joining Arman’s holiday Spill It Sunday link up, where selfies run rampant.
Have a safe, happy and healthy Holiday.
Since I’ve been ingesting massive amounts of water, tea, fruits and veggies, I’m sure the healthy will catch up with me soon.
See ya on the flip side.

Interested in participating in the Week In Review: Holiday Style?
Let’s pretend I put a Santa Claus hat on this button. I really wanted to, but honestly even that seems daunting in my current state.
The Holiday In Review is a list, in its purest form, of all the holiday things: the preparation, the post holiday traditions, the merriment and the booze. Sorry, I don’t know where the last one came from. Want in? Grab the Week in Review button for your post, link back to Clean Eats, Fast Feets and get your list on.
What are you doing for the Holidays? Any traveling?

I hope you feel better soon! I’ve linked up my compilation of the blogging stats for the year–and I’m glad to have a platform to share it on! You’re even in there 🙂

I love that I made your Year In Review, and I love that you are taking some time for you and the family. You have certainly earned it. Happy Holidays my friend.

Thanks Love. I got just enough spunk back on Christmas Eve to get me to Buffalo. I’m almost fully recovered now.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday too.
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Your holiday outfit is AMAZING! Seriously so gorgeous. Hope you feel better soon btw!
Meghan says
Thanks Love. It’s one of the only dresses I have that fits me. Good thing it works for a variety or things, and I just so happen to love it.
Viv says
Wishing you rest and rejuvenation sweetheart! Amazed that you were still able to post given your current state of body affairs. To comment since I haven’t commented in a million years: Wish we were your neighbors…the 2012 pastry looks impressive, and you just look plain HOT in your holiday get up. Good living truly regresses time. You are a testament to that. Wishing you a very Merry happy everything! See you in your healthier self soon:)
Meghan says
Thanks Viv. It was fabulous seeing you, as always. I wish I could bundle you up and keep you here in Ohio.
Arman @ thebigmansworld says
Hoping your on the mend soon- I blame the assets and liabilities….Wait, that could be taken out of context. 😉
I will indeed be linking up next week when I do my year in review post. Or half yearly rather… sorry more accounting talk.
Have a great Christmas- Hope the hubby gets crackin’ on the cookin.
PS Expect an email- sorry completely forgot about it!
Meghan says
I blame the assets and liabilities too. They can stress a sister out.
I can’t wait to have you join the link up party. Shenanigans will abound. ♫ You can do it; put you link up to it. ♫
The Hubby was a champ and got all the cooking done, until he got struck down with the same plague. Poor fella. Looks like I infected him.
Abby says
Woo-hoo! Hot Mama! And I’m not just talking about your raging fever, woman. But in all seriousness, I hope you’re feeling better and your holiday is filled with balls and other things that make your mouth and heart happy. 😉 Rest up and fa la la!
Meghan says
You’re shameless, and I love it.
Happy Holidays to you too. I send magical ball like thoughts your way.
Yamir says
Feel better, and merry xtmas to you both. Loooove the hairpieces… Too funny!!!
The Danish??!!! I just have got to make it ( i love to make tasting tests) If it is as good as it looks I see it in my future gift lists.
Meghan says
Right?! I need to rock an Elvis fro more often. I wanted to keep the wig forever.
You should make the Danish Pastry. It is heaven in your mouth. I promise.
Brittany says
GIRRRRRL, you look HOTTTT in that gold dress!!! BAM!! I hate that you’ve been sick, but I am glad to hear you are feeling better. Being sick SUCKS!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Meghan says
Bow Chicka Wow Wow.
Thanks Britt! I’m finally on the rebound and ready to kick some ass. Gently of course since I’m still in recovery mode. 🙂
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli says
Woo hooo!!! Hot mama! <- And I'm not talking of the feverish variety! 😉 Love that dress!
Like I said to your comment on my blog, I REALLY hope you're feeling better, sweets and/or at least have the rest of the week off to recuperate! That hubby is a good man taking care of all the holiday gifts for you…I know more than a dozen men who would try to talk their way out of such things!
Sound of Music!! Seriously, WHY do I not own that?!
Meghan says
Thanks Babydoll. It’s Calvin Klein.
I am finally starting to feel better (hooray) and the past couple of days at work have been very quiet and calm, which was exactly what I needed. The Hubby is a champ. For reals, I wouldn’t trade him in for anything, not even the coolest kitchen appliance imagineable.
The Sound of Music is a classic. It’s right up there with A Christmas Story. If you’re not careful, Judy Garland will shoot your eye out.
Eating 4 Balance says
We used to hang our holiday cards like that too. But since we always open our back door for our outside dog they blow off, we have to pick them up and tape them again… and they blow off… So needless to say they remained in a stack on our telephone table this year.
You’re looking quite fancy in that holiday party outfit. I love your dress! And you in it! 😀
How do your cats not knock down the ornaments? We have one bulb up this year and the rest are break-proof being cloth or wooden so if they fall we’re still good.
How nice of the hubby to make the granola and scones. How not nice that you are still not feeling well though. 🙁 Hope you get better soon!
Have you seen Carrie Underwood’s Sound of Music Live? I don’t think I’ve seen you mention it yet, which is why I ask. I thought she sounded lovely and for being live it was pretty good. Obviously not Julie Andrew’s, but since it wasn’t based on her version that’s okay.
Meghan says
I have not seen Carrie Underwood’s Sound Of Music, but you are the third person to mention it to me. Guess I need to check it out.
I am feeling much better now. Almost 100% and I hope you are on the mend too. I saw you were struck with the plague on IG and I just hope you get to enjoy the rest of your break.
I don’t know why the cats don’t eat the ornaments. The littlest one keeps trying to eat the tree and gets sick as a result, but they leave the ornaments alone. I suppose if I covered them in catnip it’d be a different story though. 😉
Fran@BCDC says
So sorry that you haven’t been feeling well. Glad you’re taking good care of yourself and that the hubby is helping out. You do look Fabulous all dressed up. I should join Spill it Sunday, but I don’t take very good selfies. Guess I need to do it in disguise as you did! Feel better, Sweetie!!
Meghan says
Thanks Fran. Yes you need to be a part of Spill It Sunday. I bet Ralph would be willing to take a lovely cell phone selfie of you.
I’m feeling much better now. I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve.
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut says
Being sick on the holidays stinks! Hope you get better soon! 🙂
If it makes you feel better…I’ve yet to send Christmas cards! I was very close this year, but I’m always too late!
Meghan says
Close but no cigar. I think people will forgive our Christmas cardless ways, or at least I hope so.
Thanks for linking up and have a great New Year’s Eve!
Sarah Pie says
I know you’re over your plague now, but I just have to say it’s crazy how it seems to spread even through the blogger world!
I hope all your plans paid off for a fantastic holiday for you and hubby! It sounds like he did his part to pitch in and help while you were down for the count 😉
Meghan says
The plague has spread. It’s amazing how fast and across how many states as well. I hope you are feeling better now too.
The Hubby rocks. He was a total trooper and made all my holiday gifts for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better spouse.
