I might need to look into this blogging schedule stuff.
I know I’ve knocked it in the past, which is odd given the fact I am a list lover and over-passionate planner. We won’t even get into my need to control all the things. Or at the very least, most of the things. Alright fine, all the things.
(image)
Typically, I write when inspiration hits and lately, it ain’t been hitting. Or at least not as much as I’d like. I’d hit that though. Ah yes, it’s good to see my sassy side is still going strong, and of course, I’ve redefined immature to be sassy. It has a nicer ring to it.
Since my creative muse decided to take a siesta today and yesterday, three days last week, and fifteen the week before that…hmm; it appears my math skills are faltering. I suspect my mental calculator is on the fritz again. In any event, I might need to eat a little crow and look into jotting down upcoming blog post ideas. If I sit down and force myself to type, eventually I’ll be able to cough out a few gems. I’m sure of it. Now about those future post topics. Let me see. Hmm. Crickets… Crickets… Crickets… Gulp.
Obviously, I need to put more thought into this and toy with the idea, or lack thereof, for more than a mere minute. In the meantime, since I’m short on inspiration and actual height, although never confidence, how about I confess some deep, dark, and steamy secrets instead?
- When I’m cold, I tuck my pants into my socks. It’s super sexy says me.
- I swapped out the classic buttermilk for some straight up almond milk in these Cheddar Apple Soaked Multigrain Muffins. Don’t get me wrong. I love buttermilk as much as the next cow; I was too lazy to run, or really drive, to the store to get it though. Despite the switcheroo, I managed to put down three of these muffins in less than an hour.
- Sometimes, although not too often, I forget to turn the faucet off after washing my hands. It’s a thing.
- I ran the dishwasher three times in the past three days. Water preservation is obviously not a priority of mine.
- I made Spring Rolls for the very first time this weekend, and it was a disaster on so many levels. Um hello, no one told me making Spring Rolls was hard work, labor intensive and exhausting. I legit had to take a nap when I was done. Also, frying food is not my forte.
- I’ve had the same watermelon sitting on my counter for two weeks now. I’ve also had “Cut Watermelon” on my To Do List for the same ungodly amount of time. We’re to the point where I’m certain he’s taunting me. He’s a devilish little bastard and pretty soon, I will teach him a lesson.
- I’m horrible at asking for help, and on the rare occasion when I do, I’m shocked by how well it pays off. I need to do this more.
- I started hoarding tomatoes. Again.
- I had intentions of making three separate soups this weekend. I made none. I blame the Spring Rolls. Obviously.
- I had one too many Vodka Cranberries on Saturday night, as evidenced by the recent discovery of a late night video recording of me rapping to Marky Mark’s Good Vibrations. ♫ Come on. Come on. Feel it. Feel it. Feel the vibration. ♫
I am eternally grateful there were no cell phones, much less Smart phones, when I was growing up.
This video will never see the light of day, although come to think of it, it’s now in The Cloud. Mental note: must investigate this cloud business and find out how much it really knows. Use extreme force if necessary; maybe even more singing.
Before I bid you adieu, I need to ask for help. Pretty please with a locally sourced and possible organic cherry on top.
I need your help and your input. What post topics would you like to see me tackle? More food? Less food? More actual recipes? Less actual recipes? More serious posts? More random ramblings and senseless mutterings? More farm share stuff? If you give me tangible and specific suggestions, I might share the Good Vibrations video or not, although I would be forever grateful.
Your turn. What’s your dark and steamy secret?
Abby says
Hmm…I’m pretty much an open, confusing choose-your-own-adventure (that usually ends up lost and confused) book, but I guess I would say that I can still do the splits all three ways, when it gets cold I sleep with pajama pants tucked into socks and I eat a majority of my meals out of bowls mostly because it makes it harder to actually spill things. However, I still manage because I’m a warrior.
As for possible topics, just be yourself. I’ll read whatever you got, sister 😉

I’m with you on the bowl thing. Also, a soup spoon helps keep one’s T-shirt spot-free when eating while reading sitting in an easy chair. Just sayin’, an ounce of prevention saves the expense of laundry boosters…
Meghan says
Clearly, I need to invest more in bowls.
I think we need to create pants and socks designed to be tucked and coupled together. It’ll be the new thing.

Keep on posting! Love your blog.
Would love to see more food stuff…veggies and all you do with them.. It doesn’t get old 🙂
Oh..and the spring rolls..I think you are not supposed to fry the rice wrappers… There is a thicker wrapper for the ones you fry .. I think.. Never tried because I suck at frying too..so I don’t even go there! You are brave 🙂
Meghan says
I appreciate the feedback Lana. Thank you so much, and I can do more veggies. They’re my favorite anyway. 🙂
You might be right about the rice wrappers. They did not fry well at all, and I ended up baking the majority of them and still didn’t love the texture. The Hubby did though, so I guess he’s set for the next month. Ha.

AH CUT THAT WATERMELON! Stale watermelon is GROSSSS. I have the same problem at my house sometimes, where it just sits on the counter and stares at me. I made spring rolls once, and “fried” them in a pan with coconut oil. They were good, but looked more like envelopes made by a 4 yr old child. It all goes in the same place and comes out a pile of mush anyway right?
I’m awful and am going to tell you to keep doing what you are doing because I like your posts just the way they are. Even in all their sporadic glory. Maybe because that’s how mine are too…

Confession: I’ve been known to take swigs of maple syrup straight from the bottle, which may or may not have been happening more often lately. Good thing I live alone : And don’t worry about the water conservation because I make up for your frequent washing with the fact that I can’t even remember the last time I turned my dishwasher on. It just takes me forever to fill up and I start running out of my favourite dishes, so I just wash them after I use them. Then again, I don’t do a tonne of cooking, so there aren’t a lot of dishes to wash… especially when I eat straight from the pot 😉

LOL…I was JUST thinking to myself….I’ve gotta make a social media schedule, but I don’t even know where to start, and even if I do, I know I’ll completely ignore it.
Then I read your post.
Honestly Meghan, I suggest just blogging what inspires you. You’ve got a very unique and interesting voice which makes your posts stand out. Plus you’re such a likable person. These are the qualities that make the Pioneer Woman who she is. She could blog about tampons and people would love it.
I think we tend to lose the interest in blogging when we feel like we’ve exhausted a topic. If you’re feeling less inspired about food, try something else!
We’re listening.
Meghan says
So you’re saying I should blog about tampons. Alright, I can try and work with that. 🙂
Appreciate the feedback love.

OBSESSED with that muffin pan- so gorgeous! Another thing gorgeous? That selfie of yours…lookin’ gooood! Your spring rolls (which look great) just reminded me that I have some rice paper wraps at home. Try soaking them for 30 seconds in warm water- it helps with the whole rolling process! They make sushi-rolling seem like a piece of cake!

I know. The muffin pan is AH-MAZING. Seriously, it’s so beautiful, I want to muffin all the things.

PSA: uncut watermelon can and will just explode all over the kitchen, so please cut it soon!
I love your recipe posts and your food posts and even the random ramblngs posts, so basically more posts = good! I like seeing what other people eat on a regular basis or buy at the grocery store or the farmers’ market and I am always looking for ideas on how to use all the produce and on meal planning. Other ideas: round up posts (top ten ways to use acorn squash), current list posts (e.g. current book, joy, bane, favorite eats), and kitty posts.
Meghan says
Duly noted. I will cut the watermelon first thing tomorrow.
I love seeing what other people eat too. Thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I think I need to do some more farm share food posts. Maybe I can throw a cat or two into the mix too.

The hoarding tomato thing made me laugh! I usually have a collection like that on my counter, usually because I’ve planned a bunch of recipes I’m going to tackle that call for tomatoes, and then I never actually get around to getting them done 🙁
I love all your posts and you seem to have a variety of topics. What about your neighborhood and the area you live… I love hearing about shops, cafes, restaurants in different areas of the world that are favourites.

Well I already confessed to resorting to shower squats as my sole form of workout recently… I guess I could confess to having some drunk escapades in the bathtub this weekend. Whatever my wined up self was thinking I’ll never know, but trying to take a bath while your motor skills are severely impaired leads to some strange looking bruises.
You should totally look into the whole calendar thing I use the WordPress editorial calendar and I love it because I can stick ideas on a day and then just keep moving them around until I actually write the post.
As far as topics I would love to see more on your CSA-ness and your local eating adventures in general, I think you have a lot of good info to share and I always love it when you talk foodie 😉

AH! I just finished writing a post on how i have writers block and cant think of anything to write about!! Ok, I’ll be linking to this post tomorrow. Thats too funny. Seriously its an epidemic. And that not turning off the faucet thing– I get it. Automatic bathrooms everywhere i go have messed me up when it comes to the old fashioned manual bathroom fixtures like faucets, flushers and hand dryers. Like, turn off a faucet by hand… what is this 1812?

More random ramblings and senseless mutterings. My favorites.
Cause, clearly, my brain is producing senseless arguments with myself all the time, and reading others mutterings makes me feel less bad. Does that make sense?
My dark secret is that 90% of the time when I want to put on my knickers I miss the ‘entry’ and stumble over them. (Stumble over your panties is a thing.) Do you have the image? Good. I hope it makes you laugh. Sometimes I fall.
