Week in Review: The Milestone Moments Edition

November 9, 2015 by Meghan 49 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

Week In Review Button Final

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back.

Need more details? Head here. ♫ You can do it, put your list into it.

Let’s get listing:

Last week brought me a bunch of highs and lows, ya know that circle of life business, so I need a little positive pick me up right now. Instead of prattling off all my comings and goings, my daily to doings, I thought I’d share a different kind of list, one which stays true to the ideals of the Week in Review.

Today, I’m sharing some milestone moments, in list form of course, because it’s how I roll.

  • This one is kind of a big deal. I’m growing a tiny human.

i_grow_humans_whats_your_superpower_t_shirts-r22c865c06cd44571939836aa225c2601_i3meq_1024(source)

  • FoodGawker accepted two out of three of my most recent recipe submissions. Considering how high their standards are, that’s almost equally as big as my first bullet point. Booyah.

Stuffed Artichoke Soup with Brown Rice and Asiago Cheese: this is hands down my favorite soup recipe, mainly because I adore all things artichoke.

Stuffed Artichoke Soup with Brown Rice and Asiago

They also accepted another crowd pleaser, my Creamy Tomato Basil Soup which I topped with Feta and Parmesan Rosemary Savory Granola. I am so ready for soup season.

  • Despite the troubles and triumphs of last week, I retained my sense of humor, which falls into the naughty minx category.

Pregnant Irony

  • My most popular recipe: this Broccoli Cheddar Quiche has officially been pinned over 40,000 times now. I’m still in shock. Quick, somebody pinch me. Not really, I bruise easily and have a mean right hook.

Broccoli Cheddar Quiche B

  • After what felt like forever and a day, I tackled some of the vegetables who had taken up permanent residence in the fridge: Easy Oven Roasted Vegetables.

Radishes, Turnips and CarrotsEasy Oven Roasted Vegetables

  • A dozen or so attempts later and I finally nailed this gem for Roasted Candied Walnuts. I can’t wait to share.

Candied Walnuts

  • This one isn’t my milestone, which won’t stop me from showcasing this serene sky either. I’m pretty sure it was a little gift or a sweet hello from above. It was also the Hubby and I’s view on our way back home from an impromptu trip to Buffalo this weekend.

Sunshine Through The Clouds

And that my friends feels like the perfect note to end things on, at least for me anyway.

Your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

    Meghan,
Congrats on everything except for the bad stuff!
If that’s not a blanket statement, I don’t want to be right.
I survived 2.1 conferences in 3 days, which is a major accomplishment for me. In addition to learning about hunger, food policy and the solid waste stream at the Montgomery County Local Food Summit . . . I learned about the wealth of options for the disabled youth of SW Ohio who are transitioning from the school setting to adulthood.
I was prepared to learn about ways to use STEM to bring industry back because we Believe In Ohio (chant it with me, now) . . . but my daughter found her chemistry teacher in the auditorium and I was excused for the rest of the day.
After 2 days of ‘is this seat taken?’, ‘may I sit here?’, name tags, sandwich buffets and iced tea carafes, and the chit chat that is associated with all that, I was grateful. It lets me recharge before tomorrow’s conference–all about executive functioning. Woot.
Why we must CONFERENCE ALL THE THINGS! in a 5 day stretch is beyond me.

Have a lovely week–you deserve it.

Holy conferences Batman. Is this because of the kids? Is this something I have to look forward to? Maybe I can bring your daughter to mine and get excused by her chemistry teacher. 🙂

Growing a human is like having a superpower – one that is able to make you nauseated at the speed of light and barely able to sleep a few hours without having to pee.

Why thank you Heather. You should know though FoodGawker rejects my pictures way more than they accept them. For real, they’re tough so anytime I get one through, I have to celebrate. 🙂

I’d cheers to you and motherhood, but then I’d have to pee again. 🙂

Congrats on the FoodGawker submissions! Not surprised since I think all your food photos are absolutely beautiful. I would say last week my biggest accomplishment was working on my own photos and remaking lots of old recipes. I have a long way to go, and looking into getting a new camera too. Hope you’re feeling (relatively) well!

Ooh, congrats on your Food Gawker submissions! I’ve been meaning to try your Stuffed Artichoke Soup for quite some time, so it’s officially on my to-make list for the cold months.

    My accomplishments this week:
    1) Went on a second and third interview with a company I interviewed with last week. Fingers double crossed that something comes of it.
    2) Finally arranged the “new” bookshelf that’s been sitting in the corner of my bedroom for…um…7 months? Better late than never!
    3) Went to the Museum of Modern Art on Saturday to see the Picasso sculpture exhibition there.

Ahh so much excitement for those interviews. Fingers, toes, eyes and everything crossed. I’m sure it went swimmingly and you knocked their socks off. They’d be fools not to take you.

Accomplishing those things which have been on the list forever always feels so good! Nicely done.

… and there I missed another Week in Review link-up. Granted, my internet permit [did I mention that one before? In short: it sucks] is very limited at the moment but I still want to join one day.
One day your little one will read this post and be very happy it ranked higher than Foodgawker even before it was born already. And you will tell it to be eternally grateful for that when it throws tantrums. Or maybe that would be me only ;). Really, though, that milestone is amazing.
Oh and about my accomplishments from the last week: leaves and lists. Lots of raking the former and wrecking my head over the latter.
