Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back.
Need more details? Head here. ♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Happy New Year Peeps!
I’ve decided to switch things up today and rock a resolutions post instead, what with it being a brand new year and all. Besides, I’ve never been one to turn down a cool hip new list before so I see no reason to start now.
Bring it on:
- I promise not to say things like “clean up my diet” now that the “holiday indulgences” are over.
(source)
- Nor will I bitch slap the people who tout these ridiculous things. I will very likely roll my eyes though. Not surprising given my thoughts on detoxes, diets or any other restrictive eating plans.
- I will continue to keep a healthy distance between myself and powdered foods, unless of course confectionary sugar is involved. Suffice to say, protein powder or PB2 will not be joining my meals anytime soon.
- I will continue to love my salads, especially this Pomegranate Citrus Salad, as equally as I love my cookies.
- I will try not to hate on pumpkin. Snort. I might even tackle the half dozen squash hanging in a cool dark corner of my basement.
- I will buy new bras since my existing ones are a millimeter away from exposed Nipple Gate; only on the left side though. The right cup is holding steady.
- I will stop stroking the Hubby’s beer bottles while muttering things like my precious. This one starts when the baby comes and not a moment before.
- I will listen to my body, which means working out when I feel like it and skipping it when I don’t, even though the latter is happening more often than not lately.
- I will embrace change or more realistically not threaten to take it out back and beat it. Alright fine, it’s highly unlikely I’ll welcome change, ever.
(source)
- I will however embrace people of all walks of life, color, creed, size, age, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation.
(source)
- I will not let fear dictate my decisions or beliefs.
- I pledge to occasionally take off and wash my new grey velour sweat suit, which makes me look like a pimp.
- I also promise to keep the 50 Cent singing to a minimum while wearing same. ♫ I don’t know what you heard about me. I’m a P.I.M.P.. ♫
- I will post more Public Banana pictures because I’ve been slacking lately or really drinking them in smoothies, which doesn’t have the same effect. Suggestive eye contact while holding a ball jar of green liquid is definitely not the same.
- I promise to disconnect more. Yes I see the irony between this and my last resolution. ‘Eh, no matter.
- I will schedule more massages and not just when I have a gift card.
- I shall use laughter as a source of sustenance in addition to my beloved carbs, although never at the expense of them.
- And for the grand finale, I will continue to be me, in all my imperfect, weird and quirky glory.

Your turn. I want to hear from you. Link up, a resolution post or your typical Week in Review, and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week?
Khushboo says
AMEN to all of these…especially about staying clear of detoxes and crash diets! Messing up your metabolism is too large of a price to even consider these kinds of approaches and honestly speaking, any weight gain over the holidays is largely going to be water! A much more reasonable approach is increasing your intake of water & nutrient-dense foods and moving more. It might not be rocket science but this trifecta is effective!

Meghan says
Yep, you do more damage with these quick fix approaches that focus on restriction. It makes so much more sense to up your fruits, veggies, whole grains (assuming you can process them), drink more water and get more sleep. I’m with you.

I have definitely had to stop myself from bitch slapping a few folk with their new year new me comments… and sadly their is no WTF button on some people’s blogs….
I second your call for more public bananas, I will do the best I can to assist you in your quest for public banana domination!
And in my opinion… All hail the sweat suit 🙂

I have never been into powdered food! Love your salads though. My hubby actually has made a classic “i will get healthy” resolution this year and is currently COOKING himself eggs and chicken sausage on the stove. Feels like I’m dreaming, lol 🙂

I do not understand PB2 at all. I thought it was going to be something that resembled peanut butter, at least a little bit…but it didn’t at all. So after letting a jar sit in my pantry for…two years, I gave it to my coworker who puts it in her smoothies. At least I didn’t waste it I forgot to make my post a resolution post, but I didn’t really make any resolutions this year. I have decided to use a word or two as a way to describe how I want to live my life this year. The first word is gratitude and the second word is content.
Have a great week!

Massage gift cards are the best. I used my last one in November and I have officially booked a massage this week, without a gift card. Mission accomplished.

This is the best list of resolutions I can think of!
I pictured you making suggestive eye contact while holding a ball jar of green liquid! It cracked me up! I’ll try this with my office smoothies on the IT people who we share the kitchen with 😀 I guess if I ate a banana in front of them most of them would run screaming haha! Sounds like fun actually 😉
P.S. I still believe most change is totally overrated!

Meg,
I would like to point out a few things.
In list form.
1) Despite not really feeling it for the past few days, and thinking I’d get around to it eventually, then post with a back dated post. I ACTUALLY GOT UP AND WROTE MY YEAR IN REVIEW POST, AND POSTED IT, this morning so that I could have it ready when I came to check out your blog.
2) I linked up said Year in Review post with you. I probably won’t link again since I don’t blog about me so much, so let’s all sit back in the comfy sweatsuits of choice and reflect upon this momentous occasion.
3) I wrote out a list yesterday, the final day of break for the kids and my final day of ‘modeling good behavior by staying off the computer during the day. I accomplished most of that list–including trimming the nails of a snoring Robert Barker (Vincent was outraged at the indignity, then insanely jealous of the other dogs getting a treat for their participation so he reluctantly consented to have the other paw done. He’s very passionate), removing almost all of the Christmas decorations (I’m keeping the lights up because it’s cozy) and putting them away with the kids’ help, and annotating the 2016 blog calendar with photographed-yet-unpublished 2015 recipes so I have some idea what’s available down the pike.
I’ve got a list for today, too.
I hear ya on protein powder–we get so much protein in our diets we don’t need to add any more in weird places like a smoothie.
I almost engaged with a friend on FB who was doing some sort of apple cider vinegar drink detox, but opted to wait until I see her in person and see how it went. I also sat on my hands instead of commenting to another friend who is selling powdery things which are supposed to cleanse you internally. It’s her thing, and while she won’t get my money I wish her well in her endeavors as I drink my beet smoothie from my quart size Ball jar and then get all that lovely internal cleansing . . .
Have a lovely week!

Welcome to the party. I’m thrilled you made it and even brought Robert Barker along for kicks. Pretty soon, you’ll be batting your well glossed eyelashes at him. 🙂
There are much easier and natural ways to get a cleanse. One is to let our livers do their job. Beet juice definitely helps.

Oh sigh. This needs to be hung. On your wall.. a wall.. any wall. I am so excited for your upcoming year. Change is scary, no kidding. but nothing a little (public) banana, massage, and new bra can’t “support” (baha). Thanks for starting my day with a genuine belly laugh, Meg. And for your badass inspiration.

Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
Best resolution post yet. I died a little inside when I opened my Bloglovin feed this morning and saw that almost all of the new recipes posted were either green-something-or-others or chicken. Granted I was getting a little tired of nothing but cookies and sweets from December, but I’m not on board with all the emphasis on detoxing and clean eating happening these days… I give it about a month before we’re knee deep in chocolate again. Also, your last resolution is my favourite… Promise me you’ll stick to that one, always.

I can’t handle all the new year diet resolution stuff. I cringe a little every time I see it because it’s mostly just a recipe for roller coaster dieting, not success. Eat more veggies, drink water, get your zzz’s and the rest will sort itself out. Also someone needs to keep drinking for me, since I really can’t. 🙂

Awe, that’s a great list. Saucy, sassy, and quite tender too. The pomegranate salad looks great. I recently saw Jamie Oliver sprinkle pom seeds on something and I was like WHAT? I didn’t know that’s how we’re supposed to get the seeds out! It looks so easy! That’s why I never buy them because I would always stand there picking out the damn seeds with my finger, one by one.

now this is a resolution list that i can jive with and get jiggy on. or vice versa, no matter.
amen on the powdered stuff – i think pb2 is evil. evil meaning i bought some, and it was gone within two days. i don’t trust it! the servings it claims to serve is a lie. clearly 2 spoonfuls of powder can’t be a serving. kiss my patooty pb2 bitches. i needed to dump at least a few spoonfuls to make decent sludge. :p
and protein powder gives me gas, and honestly i don’t need any more of that right now.

Seeing friends from Switzerland is missing here. 😉 and having kitchen dance parties and hip hop karaoke with her. Cause clearly, we are the real Gangstas.
I can’t really say I accomplished something last week except my workouts and having my nails done. Though I feel an ambitious attitude coming up since I landed in Sydney and I might keep it up for the three weeks. Searching for jobs, training, cleaneating and making #lovemyself lists besides having a ton of sun and fun. Wish me luck.
Did you try the Whiskey chocolate? It’s the real precious.
