Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Sometimes I fear these week in reviews come off like a highlight reel, also known as Instagram. Since I like to share the real deal, I’m throwing in a dose of the bad, along with all the good. Also Oscar had the runs…on practically every rug in the house. It’s a good thing he’s so damn cute.
Let’s get listing:
I had a super swanky dinner out with the Hubby and friends on Monday. As a result, I spent the better part of Tuesday riding the struggle bus, although known as one too many glasses of vino the night before. Thankfully the Hubby was off that day so we got to tag team the whole parenting thing.
(I’m just a girl making good on her New Year’s Resolutions.)
I filed our taxes, all of them: federal, state and local, and it’s only March. “Boom,” she says while dusting off shoulder with a side of swagger.
And then I scrubbed rugs galore in light of Oscar’s green apple splatters. Grumble, grumble.
I had lunch with an old friend on Wednesday in downtown Cleveland. It was great to catch up. It was less great to pay the parking ticket I achieved as a result of that same meal.
(Business in the front, party in the back.)
I worked on my vegetarian lentil meatball post multiple times, only to be thwarted by the tiny human, who decided to barely nap last week. On Thursday, we had a record low of thirty minutes for the entire day, and Friday wasn’t much better. Mothers everywhere can feel my pain.
I picked up my Miata from the shop, just in time for me to pass it along to someone else in the family, since a two-seater convertible isn’t exactly baby friendly. Sigh. I’m gonna miss that car.
Speaking of my mini-minion, we did all the things last week. We hit up grandma and grandpa’s house, we vroomed all over Costco, we went to Baby and Me story time at the library, we checked out a local fish fry, and we had a play date with friends.
I dealt with not one, but two power outages. As a result I read my book by candlelight and ate girl scout cookies for dinner one night. It was romantic.
I also brush burned both of my knees last week. Sadly not for the reasons you might think. Apparently when baby crawls all over, mom gets to crawl all over as well.
Last but not least, the tiny dictator and I hit up a wedding shower on Sunday. Since it was in Toledo, we went on a little road trip.
It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.
What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small?
meredith @ cookie chrunicles says
aww she is getting so big! so super cute. power outages are the worst! we are getting a blizzard tomorrow which means I pray not to lose power.

The snow is headed our way this evening, and the winter storm warning is going through until Wednesday. We better stock up on water, canned goods and candles. :Stay safe and warm.

So you like it on your hands and knees, huh? ;D I promise that isn’t creepy at 5 AM on a Monday. But then again, humor is all that is keeping me from killing my dog, who has decided to revert to total puppy mode this morning…
Meghan says
The better question is who doesn’t like it on their hands and knees.
Also don’t kill the dog; you’ll regret tomorrow.

Ave is such a little girl now.! Which is probably why she’s decided naps are for babies and she’s above it. ; ) I’m in that boat with you too and riding out on a sea of coffee. Props to you for the taxes. We haven’t started. First step…buy Trubo tax at Costco. Step two: find every single receipt from 2016 and claim how hard our life is.

She is napping beautifully today. Quick knock on wood.
Also this is the first year in I can’t remember how long my taxes were done this early. Last year, I did them on the deadline when Ave was only a week or so old. Talk about procrastination. I use TaxAct online and I really like them. It was about $55 for Federal and State, but they remember my info from year to year so that saves time.

OH no for power outages, was it because of the weather? My husbands family outside of Buffalo just got power back on Saturday, crazy! But yay for lunches with friends, those are the best!

Yep, we had a crazy wind storm on Wednesday and lost power for about 12 hours. Thankfully it wasn’t super cold yet so we hung in there. Lunches with friends really are great. I’ve got another one set for this week. Hooray!!

Your dealing with the power outage sounds perfect to me. Maybe you should fake some more of those. Candlelight and cookie therapy could happen more often for all of us.
You had a definite up and down week. But hangovers, cobb salads, time with the hubby and some crawl-pilates all have their ups. Ava is looking more beautiful each week, geez.

Despite a few bumps in the road (or poops on the rug), it really was a good week, and I loved that I made the best of the power outages. I haven’t taken the candles down either so perhaps some future romance…

errrr me gerrrrd i can totally relate! we celebrated my birthday early in february with too much adult grape juice, and basically i haven’t had a drop since. it was so miserable for me the next day and seriously i’m just too old for a hangover. my goal is sharpen my brain like a pencil and be clear, clarity. i’m living in perpetual fogginess that sometimes gets a shot of caffeine. i need clarity, i don’t need anything to slow me down!
another coincidence is that we had a wedding reception on saturday night which was in columbus texas, an hour and a half away. so yeah we also had a rode trip! it was super cool, well stressful but much easier than it’s ever been. the stress was because it was raining and also making for a potential late night. i get to be the bad guy and command our little troop to exit at the appropriate hour. my evening shift still awaits. also we introduced Lulu to the magic of mcdonald’s french fries. she was entertained by the oily, salty, potato sticks for quite a long time but i could tell she prefers homemade potato fries, and that’s a good thing.
this is such a fun age i must say, i’m really excited 🙂 XO

Ave and I had a full on conversation today. Seriously mark this one in the books!!! We were eating lunch and she pointed (her new skill) to her water glass on the table. I brought her the glass and she was just absolutely delighted I understood what she was asking for, and I was tickled pink we had a conversation. Woot, woot. I can’t wait for the same to happen to you. Blows kiss.
Of course your french fries are better. No question!!

Ave has such a great grin. Your week sounded cool in that you got to hang out with friends and stuff but the diarrhea and power outages sound lame. I hope you didn’t step in any poop in the dark.

Wow. Sounds like there were a few hiccups last week. Cat diarrhea + hangover + minimal baby napping time + power outages + parking ticket sounds. Thank goodness for candlelight and Girl Scout cookies. And good books. Always good books.

Yep, great books are a must. The power outage actually did me a favor because I ended up getting so much reading in. Despite the hiccups, I’m declaring last week a success.

Well I feel like even though every week in review post is some sort of a highlight reel – I think you cannot prevent that completely – there is for sure no need to fear you can come off as a sugar-coater. Ever! Being so real is one of the reasons why I love you and your blog!
Poor Oscar! And poor you. Why do cats always choose to do these things on a rug? Hope he gets better soon for his and your sake!
Give Ave a kiss from me and tell her she needs to sleep and let you work on the lentil meatballs post. I need these in my life and I hope you will mention that these are the balls I want in my mouth! That snapchat cracked me up 😀

Thanks sunshine, I really do try to keep it real. I’m not a big fan of fakeness and too much rainbows and sunshine. Gimme cat poop filled reality any day of the week. Also I said the exact same thing, why did Oscar have to hit all the rugs??? Seriously. The floor would have been so much easier to clean.
I think Ave heard you because she is on her second nap today and both have been longer than an hour!! Who is this kid and what happened to my baby? I’ll take it. Also I’ve got a Gilmore Girls date with the girls tonight so today is pretty awesome.

Hallelujah for realness. Good stuff. Aww poor Oscar, I can say that only because I’m not the one who had to scrub his poo out of the rugs. I think I would feel differently if I had that job. The sweet potato party going on behind that wedge salad has my name written all over it.

Urgh I have had that happen to me before. Lovely meal out, feeling all smiley and happy and then bam! Parking ticket…. I am such a grouch after one of those because I always go out of my way to follow the parking rules!! Your lunch did look incredible though…

How long did you have the Miata? I’ve had my car for less than a year and I already can’t imagine parting with it. It’s amazing how our cars become such a part of specific times in our lives.

Superhuman powers. Yes, definitely. Those are what has to be your secret to going through a week like this and still keeping your wit and positivity. Dang, lady. A sick cat, sleep-refusing [that would never be me ;)] but still adorable baby and power outages? Especially after your car battery burning in the past week you’d expect life to go a little easier on you, no? I’m keeping my fingers crossed this week was cat-vomit-less and relaxation-filled.
