Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.
The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Need more details? Head here.
♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫
Let’s get listing:
Thanks to my mother, who stayed with us part of last week and got up with Ave in the mornings, I got to sleep in a handful of days. I’m talking to the tune of 8 and sometimes even 9 o’clock. It was magical.
(“What do you mean mom is sleeping.”)
I published two blog posts, including this little gem, where I share my parenting pearls of wisdom. If you’re a soon to be mom, this one is for you.
I celebrated a belated Mother’s Day lunch with great company and tasty food.
I almost went to the yoga studio one day, but opted to do some couch yoga instead, which involved holding a horizontal stretch on a soft and cushy surface for several hours. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.
I did manage to pull myself off the sofa though for a mother daughter gelato date.
(Mexican Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup)
I went farmers marketing! It was my first time this year and I was more excited than a puppy dog who pees on the floor when someone new comes over. I came away with peanut butter bread, green onions, asparagus, eggs, and some sassy carrots.
(Carrot Love. A tale of two root veggies who would stop at nothing to be together.)
I snuck in several catnaps throughout the week. You’d think I was trying to catch up on all the sleep I missed in the last year. Oh wait…
I made a boatload of food, including these Buffalo Cauliflower Bites which have been on my foodie bucket list for years, along with a blue cheese dressing because one tasty morsel deserves another.
I did the usual adulting type nonsense: paid bills, reconciled bank accounts, vacuumed, washed clothes and bedding. I even showered every so often.
I also finished the great kitchen cabinet purge of 2017. Yes, I’m being dramatic mainly because this is the one I started months ago. Ave was a huge help.
I finished planting our veggies, along with my pint-sized assistant. This year we’ve got a little bit of everything: asparagus, garlic, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes (cherry, grape and the big boys), peppers (hot and bell), kale, spinach, Swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower, and a variety of herbs. Hence, the reason my Hubby calls it “The Farm.”
We had a family outing to downtown Cleveland on Saturday afternoon, which ended with margaritas, chips and salsa. Ave enjoyed dining al fresco.
(“Excuse me waiter, I’ll have another please.”)
Last but not least, the Hubby and I went on a dinner date with some close friends. It was lovely.
On that note, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

Each picture is better than the last! First I was cooing over the Ave-with-grandparents, then I was distracted by THOSE BRUSSELS SPROUTS, then the ice cream, then Ave at work … Looks like a quality week indeed, so glad it was a good one.
Meghan says
It was a great week filled with lots of highs. I’m so glad we managed to snag some good pictures of Ave and the grandparents.

Oh, I like this. A lot. Sleep. Cute Ave and grandparent meet-ups. All the delicious food. It sounds like a really good week.
Couch yoga, eh? Well, I should probably practice that one [particularly the not feeling guilty part] some time these days, too.
There’s all the reason to be dramatic about finishing that pantry purge. I’m still – bit by bit – working on mine though I got a good chunk done recently. Which I forgot to add to my week in review …
And those carrots? True vegetable love. Also, you’re growing a little gardener – she and P. would get along well there. The other night while they were staying at my parents he spotted the greenhouse from the bedroom window and insisted on taking one final trip to (over-)water the plants in his PJs.

Well now that the kitchen is done, I need to move onto the hallway pantry and the front hall closet. I figure by the time i finish the whole house, it’ll be time to start right back over again. Ha!
Ave really likes the garden because she can walk around it. Plus she adores the chives and eats them pretty much by the fistful.
Little P is fabulous.

So nice you got to do some farmers marketing, I haven’t been to any yet and absolutely love them. And omg your garden! Will you come do one for me please! That will be so nice to have all those veggies!

I love gardening. Working in the dirt and seeing those veggies grow (when they do actually grow) is my happy place. You should plant an herb garden. It’s a great starting place.

I haven’t slept til 8 in OVER FIVE YEARS. I think I need a mommy morning where I kick Jody out and lock the door and make him fend for himself. I might come out a different person. Can I tell you, the farmer’s market is my favorite place!! We go and get iced coffees and fresh off the truck donuts and I spend way too much money on goat cheese and it is glorious. We haven’t been yet this year but now you’ve got me itching to go. Also, gelato and chess? I love your mom.

You most definitely need a mommy morning. In fact, I’d say you need like two or three in a row to really feel like your batteries are getting recharged. One day is nice but it doesn’t quite do it.
I need fresh off the truck donuts.

Oh my gosh. That picture of Ave with Grandma is officially the cutest thing ever. That or her holding the watering can. Can there be two officially cutest things ever?
Ave seems a little young to get started on the Bacardi.

She wasn’t a fan of the rum, although the tequila on the other hand…. Kidding, she only drinks water and breast milk these days. I won’t even give her juice yet. Ha. 🙂

“Ugly” produce for the win! Farmer’s markets are much more fulfilling to me than normal grocery store shopping.
And your garden!!! That’s so impressive! Have you harvested anything yet?

I’ve used some of the herbs, Ave eats the chives like they are going out of style, and had some asparagus. Nothing else yet, although it shouldn’t be long for the kale and spinach. They’re looking pretty tasty.

Nothing like getting to sleep in!! I feel like we’re getting closer and closer to that every day. The pint sized helper is pretty adorable, though, even though she does cause sleep deprivation. I love your raised garden too! One of these days I will finally get ours in order and it shall be glorious.

I can’t wait to see your raised garden and in the meantime, there’s always pots. Truthfully I prefer pots for the herbs so they don’t take over everything.

You know I hate yoga, but couch yoga is something I could get on board with! And gelato. And those buffalo cauliflower things. Oh, and let’s now forget the fornicating rainbow carrots.
How does Ave get cuter every day? The pic with the mini bottles is priceless.

She gets cuter and more vocal every day. She gibbers non-stop and even sings on occasion. She sounds sorta like the Hubby when he’s had too many to drink. 🙂

Sounds like a great week. I love how the watering can is bigger than the baby!

Confession: the watering can is empty in that picture because otherwise she wouldn’t be able to lift it. That thing gets super heavy when it’s full.

I love your garden! I enlarged the photo trying to see what is what! I just put my plants in today and am now sitting with the heating pad alternating it between neck (osteo arthritis) and lower spine for the same thing, lol! Totally worth it! That was the hardest part weeding is a pleasure, done on a daily basis it never gets crazy out of hand. I can’t wait!
I wish I had a water Girl! Now that Ave has passed the one year mark, I promise you that she’ll find all manner of creative ideas to get in your way… er, to help you out with your chores!
And lastly, Wow! You are gorgeous all girly-ed up! An inspiring sight for me try some makeup again soon! It’s really hard after ya get wrinkles just to know where to start! So then I just stopped and now I’d like to give it a try once more.
Meghan says
She already is a handful with helping, also known as making a mess, but I’m glad she gets to see this stuff. She loves the chives too and eats them by the fistful. My mother in law commented that her breath always smells like garlic. Oops.
I’ll send you some closer pictures of the garden. I loved seeing your pictures. Your husband did a great job. It came out beautiful.

My raised garden is a going to be a happy spot in my summer this year, and in many to come! Worth the 3 years in the making. Now some running water….
Letting little ones have as much participation in life as is safely possible, ie, Getting down and dirty, is the best gift ever! So much more work and frustration for mom, but letting a kid go and explore and just grow up being and discovering who they are is huge!
Kirsten says
Meghan,
You look lovely for date night!
I took my mat outside on Mother’s Day to have a little sunny Sun Salutation session. So glad I did–the dogs didn’t get on the mat with me and no bees stung me.
While I farmer’s market year round because we’ve got a year round farmer’s market, I’ll admit I’m looking forward to the opening of the down the street farmer’s market in 10 days or so. Very nice to be able to walk down the road and fetch fresh produce.
What did I accomplish? Getting a recipe formatted in proper recipe format. It’s kinda yuuge for me. One down, only 500-some to go.

Very impressive. I’d ask if you want to come format some recipes for me, but I suspect you’re busy. Plus if you were to make it back to Cleveland (perhaps another tomato canning session), I’d recommend couch yoga, sun salutations and Kombucha beer.

Sassy carrots, indeed!
Eeee the first farmers market trip of the year! i’m still riding the high of mine from a few weeks ago. You got a winning haul that’s for sure. Although – man – why need a farmers market when you’ve got your garden!?! Geez I’m beyond jealous. Of your garden and your green thumb skills. AND your handy little helper who is obviously taking after her mother in the gardening talent category.
So many cheers for loads of nap and couch time and being out with good food.
