Week in Review: #100

September 18, 2017 by Meghan 40 Comments

Get your pads and pens ready because it’s time for the Week In Review.

The Week In Review is a list, in its purest form, not of the things you still need to do, but of all the things you have done in the last seven days. It’s an achievement list, an ode to yourself, a celebration of sorts, and a virtual pat on the back or smack on the ass. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Need more details? Head here.

♫ You can do it, put your list into it. ♫

Holy shit you guys! Can you believe the 100th Week in Review post is here?!

We need to celebrate. I feel like we should get wild and go nuts. Swing from the rafters, bust out the bubbly, and have one epic dance party. Wait, wait, wait, I know, I know. Let’s go STREAKING!!

Or maybe I should just put a cork in it and get listing:

Last week, I…did some stuff. I’m sure of it. I’m quite certain I did laundry; after all I have clean underwear. I probably ran a vacuum and wiped down the counters, the table and the baby’s high chair like a thousand times, not that it’s made a difference. When Ave’s done with it, I’d like to set fire to it and watch it burn. Maybe I’ll invite Adele; I hear she’s a pyromaniac.

Aside from our usual monotony, I hung with the kid and the Hubby all week before he headed back to work on Saturday. The three of us ran all sorts of errands, we hit up the library for story time and random playing, we went to the park and we ate dinner at Panera one night.

I was a little perturbed by how much Ave loved the yogurt in a tube thing. It gave me the willies. Has yogurt always come in a squeezie pouch?

I had a date night with the Hubby which involved a flight of margaritas, a slightly tipsy me and all the guacamole and queso dip I could consume. There was also a side of the most amazing brussels sprouts I’ve ever eaten.

I also swam laps on two separate occasions last week for a total of one and a quarter miles. We hit up the local gym playroom several times in an attempt to get Ave comfortable. Thus far, she is not having it. The second the Hubby or I leave the room, she loses it.

Something she does love though: family gelato night.

On Saturday morning, Ave and I went to the farmers market and scoped out the produce. I bought a bag of carrots even though we have more food at home than we can manage. Seriously, somebody needs to restrain me.

(These are bitter melon. I find them fascinating.)

I wrote a free hand blog post on our upcoming trip to San Diego, and I took care of some other minor technical details, such as updating my recipe index, swapping out my profile picture and boosting a Facebook post. Fingers crossed this boosting business works.

I got my hair cut, and I had a lovely lunch out with some girlfriends.

We had a playground play date on Saturday night with one of Ave’s besties, and on Sunday, we went to local church picnic with my in-laws, complete with live music and ice cream. Ave had a blast.

It’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Link up and get yo’ list on.

What are three things you accomplished in the last week? Big or small. What is the yogurt in a tube business? Have you ever tried bitter melon?

Hi Meghan, I have to share that I took my husband to the organic, vegan café, Root, on Saturday. Then we went shopping at the hippie Lion and Blue. He was a good sport. I have to admit both places are a throwback to college days. Pat

I’m with Ave, I much prefer prefer family gilato night than hanging out with a bunch of strange mutts that I don’t know whose biggest aim is to snatch the first toy out of my hands that I try and pick up when I go solo.

Oh those yogurt tubes! And apple sauce, and you name it it comes comes in a tube now a days. What gives me the willies is seeing kids who barely fit in a stroller or shopping buggy much too old who should be walking, with one of them stuffed in their mouth like a pacifier. Common! Give em a little bag of chopped fruit or veg and let them walk! At 3 my kids would have been embarrassed to ride like a “baby”.

Oo….this opinion does nor reflect that of this website and is mine alone. And I’m just a grumpy old lady living probably in the wrong decade who got up on the wrong side of the bed today about to share her home for three weeks for internship month for young two college fellas.

I’ve been packing Ave’s snacks this morning and I’ve got the usual pretzels, cheddar bunnies and I’m gonna make some green beans too because she loves them and they’re fairly portable.

You’ll love this: yesterday at the library, Ave became very territorial and forceful telling all the other kids who tried to play with anything, No. My hubby had to pull her out of there. Oh boy, do we have our hands full. Ha!!

Oh and the brussel sprouts were fried with coconut vinegar and spicy peanuts. Not sure what the spices were, but they were out of this world.

Glad you were able to enjoy one last week with your hubby home.
And 100 weeks in review?!! That’s crazy stinking awesome. As is gelato and farmer’s market mornings. Did you end up buying the bitter melon? It’s actually used a lot in Filipino dishes (called ampalaya there if you want to look up recipes) so I am one of few who has probably had it (and actually liked it!)
    Happy Monday!

Sometimes the yogurts in a tube are my saving grace when we’re in a hurry in the morning and I don’t want to risk major messes. Haha!

Also, the melons are crazy! I’m always amazed at so many strange fruits there are that I am unfamiliar with.

I think most of the novelty is the tube too. I’ve given Ave yogurt before and she’s OK with it, but she destroyed the tube one. Maybe I’ll pick a few up for emergencies, such as saving mommy’s sanity.

HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY!! Holy guac!! It’s been so cool to see your “baby” grow and thrive and continually get more and more awesome (in my humble opinion). Your first baby, that is.

Speaking of guac… um, that bowl of green is heaven.

Love the new pic. I noticed immediately 🙂

Yogurt was never meant to be in tubes. That shit’s weird.

Have you ever actually had a bitter melon? I have not, but they definitely intrigue me.

Any week with gelato/ice cream happening twice is a successful week to me.

And that’s it for my sporadic commenting! Thinking of you as you take off this week…

I bought some yogurts in tubes once because they were on super sale. Then I put them in the freezer to make yogurt popsicles, because that’s the only way I thought they were edible.

Bitter gourds look like some sort of weird sea creature. I’m not sure I could eat one because of that.

Bitter melon always teases me then reminds me that just because it looks pretty doesn’t mean it tastes pretty. It’s very popular in Asian dishes I grew up with and I just didn’t quite get to the point of loving it. It’s an acquired taste for sure. But every time I go to our favorite vegan buffet I will get a serving of sautéed bitter melon. It’s like I’m Homer Simpson around a donut, can’t help it. Too bad it tastes like the opposite of a donut. Poop
