I tend to approach things quite literally.
Five minutes to me means five actual minutes. No more, no less, so when I first starting doing these Currently posts, I struggled a smidge because I wanted to answer every question in that same manner. What drink am I downing right now? What non-guilty pleasure am I involved in at this precise second? Does blogging count? It was a conundrum to be sure, so I opted to loosen up a bit, change my perspective, and relax on my very literal approach. I’m sure there’s a life lesson in there somewhere, although I’m not ready to tackle it head on, even if my skull is thick.
Today, we’re focusing on what’s Currently happening in my little world and by that, I mean the last handful of weeks. How’s that for improvement?
Current Book: Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I’m reading this one at the Hubby’s request. I’m only a handful of pages in, which means it’s too soon for me to make a judgment call.
(source)
Current Music: I’m digging Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson. I can’t help but move my size fives and shake my little bitty hips to this. slick. beat. Oops, wrong artist.
Current Non-Guilty Pleasure: living in my pajamas all day this past Saturday. To be fair, there was a shower and a pajama swap midway through the day. Also, I never left the house, so it’s allowed.
Current Drink: wine, lots and lots of wine, which by the way is in no way related to the Great Pajama Day. My local grocery store, Nature’s Bin (think Trader Joes but better), started doing wine and food pairings on the first Friday of the month, which means grocery shopping just got a whole lot boozier.
Current Food: a recent brunch with the family included a crepe bar with a side of toppings, fillings, homemade whipped cream and mimosas. AH-MAH-ZING!
Current Favorite Show: the Hubby and I are back on Breaking Bad. We’re just started Season Three and since he’s headed back to school after a lovely seven days off, it’ll probably be another three months before we finish it. Le sigh.
Current Wish List: another week of downtime with the Hubby, although this is one fantasy which won’t be coming true no matter how many stars I wish upon. Damn school in a different state. Grumble, grumble.
Current Needs: to get back to the gym. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I didn’t work out at all last week, and my sanity misses it.
Current Indulgence: rekindling an old school video game obsession. If I suddenly stop blogging, it’s because I’ve been sucked into the Legend of Zelda. Link and I are now on a quest for the Triforce. You understand.
(source)
Current Triumphs: hanging the picture on the right, after acquiring it many months ago. It’s fun and boozy, just like me. Those might even be pajamas she’s wearing.
Current Bane of Existence: I’ve got a tickle in my throat and I don’t mean the good kind. I’m fighting off the plague, which while not great, allows me time to lounge around the house in pajamas all day, while playing massive amounts of video games.
Current Blessing: I’m here, I’m happy and relatively speaking I’m healthy. That’s always a blessing.
Current Excitement: the Hubby cleaned out a storage spot in our cold dark basement in order to make me a proper root cellar. It’s official. I am a full-blown Hippy, with a penchant for snake skin pumps.
Current Links: This link and I need your help. It’s the story of a three-year old boy named Weston, who needs to gain weight in his struggle with Cystic Fibrosis. His mother started a social media campaign and is asking us to share food pictures on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and tag them #EatWithWest #ChubbyChasingMission, and #CysticFibrosisAwareness. These pictures serve as encouragement for little West to take yet another bite. I figure as food bloggers, we totally got this, so I’d appreciate anything you can do to help.
Current Mood: slightly melancholy, after saying goodbye to the Hubby, although we’ll be reunited again in five days. I’ll probably affix myself to his leg because that’s not awkward. Cough, cough.
Your turn. Answer any of the Currently questions above? Also, I’d very much appreciate your help with spreading the word about the #EatWithWest campaign.

Legend of Zelda came up randomly yesterday for me in conversation. So strange! I can also be a bit too precise when trying to answer questions. My current mood is neutral with a slightly positive slant, being that the kids are off from school again but aren’t driving me or each other crazy yet.

Meghan says
It’s synchronicity. Legend of Zelda will be everywhere now, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The slight positive slant is what’s important here. I hope your day stayed that way. 🙂

That crepe bar makes my Paris-missin’ heart swoon. I’ve been seriously considering sweeping myself off to France later this year to relive the deliciousness of studying abroad there.
I’mma throw it back to taking Currently very literally, and say that I’m currently-as-in-right-this-second eating a bowl of steel cut oatmeal with almond butter, slivered almonds, and berries, while wearing my favorite comfy leggings. Because when you work from home, as long as you change from one set of comfy clothes to another, it’s still considered “getting dressed.”
Meghan says
I like how this work from home gig sounds. Speaking of, are you loving it yet? Or dreaming about running away to Paris for food? Need a travel buddy? I fit nicely in a suitcase.

oh my darling, i feel your melons! i mean meloncholy… Mr. Smith just left for norway yesterday, and of course it’s my bday, and i’m alone in a house with some lovely contractors to keep me entertained. life could be worse i suppose, but it’d be nice if they were mildly attractive. meh.
he happens to be considering going to grad school in another state, and if so then i will be able to relate to you even more. i freaked out at first, but i’m ok with it now. we shall see. he travels a lot for work as it is, so i’m accustomed to self entertaining my self. haha. nonsensical yabber today.
i love pajama days, and i used to like zelda… actually i used to play this game “zork” on my apple IIe computer. old school up in this hizouse! i have that same ‘chat noir’ poster, i just love french kitty cats… so french and smizy.
hope you feel better – and fight off the whatevers are trying to attack you. may the force be with you! and if not, the wine 🙂
i will look at this link and help all i can, thank you!
Meghan says
Happy Birthday! Cute contractors should have been part of your birthday wishes. I hope your doing something fun, even if it’s of the self entertainment variety.
Feeling better already. I think my day of rest, also known as Pajama Day, might have just nipped this bug in the butt.

Glad you’re feeling better! i forgot to comment that Breaking Bad was my first netflix affair.. followed by Dexter, then House of Cards, OTNB, Lilyhammer, and Drop Dead Diva. yeah i’ve had a lot of time with netflix. but Breaking Bad rocks, it’s the jamma ramma.
for my bday i celebrated with an avocado – and blended it with sprouted micro greens and slaw. it turned into green pudding and made my heart happy. of course there was wine and i even had it in BED!!! oh my stars nothing more decadent than having wine in bed. it might be gross but it was exactly what i wanted. hey i’m home alone 🙂 that’s how we do

I kind of love that you put your squashes on a blanket. Awww. You totally would <3 And we need to talk about the current lack of video games in my life. Did you know that I can't even remember the last time I played one? Not even my favourite MMORPG that recently came out with a new expansion? Not acceptable. Although you're making meant to dig through my parents' basement to see if I can find my old school Nintendo. I have the gold version of The Legend of Zelda. I used to be very proud of that fact 😆

JZ and I just finished the last episode of Breaking Bad on the weekend! I still don’t know whether I liked the show or not, but it certainly sucked me in. I had the same issue with it that I had with Wuthering Heights – I hated the main character haha.

I am the one who knocks.
Wait – get to the last season of Breaking Bad and that quote will make perfect sense.
After that show ended (I binge watched it on netflix last spring) I just threw up my hands and decided that I could never watch TV again because that was the best thing ever made for TV.
Then I found the Walking Dead.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Sorry you got the plague, but I think another day of Zelda and PJ’s just might knock it back for good, no?
